Ya know, I never really appreciated the "welcome back" of every video until just now. I came back from the kitchen and right as I sat down, the ads ended and you tell me, 'Welcome back." Thank you for being such a gentleman.
I just want to point out: three of the four players that are tied for the league lead in goals wear Johnny Gaudreau’s number 13 (Hischier, Caufield, Reinhart) ❤️
Honestly I want one of them to win the Rocket and Im a Matthews fan (and Leafs fan duh) IF columbus cant have a Cinderella run for Johnny (Calgary *gives side eyes*) I would love for one of them to win it esp if its Caufield since hes said that he played hockey because of Johnny.
You nailed it with Kleven and JBD. The third pairing finally has been solid for the Sens which has not been the case for years. Both of them play hard and are strong on pucks, but what’s surprised me is that their transition games have also been much better this season. Happy for Klev for his rookie season, even happy for Bernard-Docker that he finally has settled in the NHL
Been glad to see Reichel doing better this year so far. He seemed to kill it in the AHL, but cannot get it together in the NHL last year and a lot of people were calling him a bust and ready to give up on him. Hopefully he keeps it up this year. The kid has some talent and I've been glad to see the progress. Smith and Reichel have done some work the past few games. I'll be keeping my eye on Reichel and I hope to see him continue to produce.
25:34 There's a perfect sponsorship if Mancini was playing for the Sharks. There's a chain of mattress stores called Mancini's Sleepworld in the SF Bay Area/Northern California. I haven't seen him play, but if he has big hits it would be even better.
Ya Khusnutdinov is playing well, he's buried on the roster but he's doing his job, he's always in the play, always finding and attacking the puck. His time will come (likely with an injury above him), Wild have 3 or 4 guys who could be a perennial 2nd line center in the league, honestly I'd like to see him get some time on the wing as well
Kleven looked shaky during the preseason and I thought Sebrango might've made the team over him but Kleven has settled in and been good defensively and his puck moving has been good. He has a really heavy shot and has been getting chances so I'm sure he will get that 1st goal soon
Maybe getting L'Hereux and Del Gaizo confused. Del Gaizo is our younger defenseman who has played a few games up this season and has looked pretty good. L'Hereux is playing mostly 4th line grinder minutes in the hole left by Sherwood leaving
Kasper is doing everything right, looks like he's been in the NHL for a few years. If the Wings as a whole were playing better, he'd be showing up on the scoreboard a little more. He's been on fire once he found his groove in the AHL.
Mackie has been really good so far. Definitely some things to improve on defensively and on the forecheck, but it really felt like he should have been at 5 or 6 goals so far this season.
He also has literally been good defensively so far. He had the one bad giveaway in the first period of his first game back but other than that he's been really solid defensively
Shane Wright is gonna be good. When he’s on a line with Bjorkstrand and Eeli Tolvanen they have an xGF% of 67.07 and 7 high danger chances to one allowed per natural stat trick.
I think his "problem" is that he's playing too much of a team game. He's put himself into a grinder roll. He needs to focus on scoring a bit more. I'm not particularly worried yet. Though I would like to see them do something to get him going. maybe double shift him onto the wing for some extra ice time.
Khusnutdinov hasn't been getting many points but he does a lot of things well. He is fast and makes some good moves with the puck. He is pretty good at getting deflections, just hasn't paid off yet. He is decent at faceoffs. But the best thing so far has been his defensive game imo. He forces a ton of turnovers.
I am VERY excited about Geekie. The points aren't there yet, but you can see the flashes almost every time he's on the ice. Also, Moser has been a massive upgrade from Sergachev. The Bolts needed better defense and Moser has been stellar. Great plus minus, and I've see him jump up on the play and get involved in the offense.
Jets fan here. I'll start with a disclaimer: I'm very much a positive fan, an optimist. I've liked what upside Stanley represents and seen some really special puck movement from him, and being able to find unique lanes because of the long stick. Over the years he has committed mistakes and can lose pucks in close, as well as lose his balance in fights. I've never really faulted him for that because of exactly what THG said: bigger D-men can take a while to develop, and pair that with the slow Jets development strategy, he just hasn't been given the opportunity. So here we are in early 2024, and just coming off a Sunday afternoon game where Stanley looked damn near what his ceiling can be: puck mover, body banger, and a team enforcer. We need that enforcer role badly as we've lost that spot over the years between Buff and Dillon.
@@savjakob7838He’s at or near the top of the team in lots of the advanced analytics (not that I’m the biggest advanced analytics guy) and just watching him play he’s passing the eye test for me. The points will come. E: not to mention that all of his 3* points have come in the last 5 games up in the top 6. The points are already coming.
Funny thing is Luke Hughes defense has picked up. And Pesce is great as a pairing with him. His offense hasn't caught on yet this year but I'm not concerned. His skill helps him steal and make great stick plays on D. If you've been watching him close there's lots to like. Especially compared to before he and Pesce returned.
lol Yeah he literally just had the one really giveaway in the first period of his first game back. Other than that his defense has been pretty standout
Hendrix Lapierre isn't popping up much on the scoresheet, but he has been playing extremely well. Really quick to the puck, his forecheck has been outstanding, no one is out working him. Really the entirety of the bottom six has been excellent thus far.
Weird thing about Wyatt Johnston’s numbers right now is that he avoided the Sophomore jinx last year. I think it’s mainly the fact that they have him playing on the third line still…
I knew that Victor Mancini was going to be your Rangers' pick. I get your point (Islanders are a Veteran/Older Team - LOL), so, anyone decently young really qualifies.
surprised you didnt talk about Dorofeyev for VGK. About the same age as Holtz but has 7 Goals in 12 games. Like 10 points total. I think Vegas might have themselves a star with Pavel Dorofeyev
L'Heureux is a forward? Usually your video's are so spot on? Why not McMichael from Wash. Struggled so long, but now killing it. I do love your shows; I am an expat from Vancouver in Australia
Very surprised he didn't go for Mcmichelle for washington. really seems like a break through season so far. Maybe just a hot start but looks good so far.
If Zegras put as much work into his defensive game as he put into learning how to do Michigan goals he could be a solid player. His defense was never very good but where has his offense gone the last 2 seasons?
Mancini is a good story for the Rangers, but personally I'm interested in following Braden Schneider. He might not fit the exact definition of young player (23 years old, entering his 4th year with the Rangers). But he's off to a good start: GP11, G 2, A 3, PTS 5, +/- is +8
Mancini being a RHD when they already have fox Schneider and Trouba leads me to think they send him down at some point rather than have him sit in the press box all season.
Idea for a silly video: have the video start like usual and be about a controversial/serious topic, only for the camera to spin around and point at the cats by the window. Keep it like that for the rest of the video, with Shannon's ramblings in the background only as a muffled, faint sound😂
I'm pretty sure Kasper had a slow start in the AHL last year and really heated up down the stretch & into the playoffs. Hopefully that trend continues this year.
15 minutes ice time for a player with less than 10 games . So Kasper is just fine Some player never go above 15 minutes threshold in their NHL career He is playing Too 6 minutes already
"When everybody is healthy for Montreal" Yeah. I laugh at that idea considering that St-Louis, 5th longest active tenure in the NHL, never had a full lineup.
I don't know how far back you go but I see you have Zegras. If you don't consider Chytil or Kakko young anymore, I think Cuylle is the better Ranger to highlight. He has a permanent spot on the roster and he's a very good player. Played on the Rangers' most consistent line. Mancini is in and out of the lineup.
