American 5 Heavy Emergency Landing @ LAX 9-20-14

- Just a normal day of spotting at LAX until we saw a bunch of emergency vehicles getting into position as if there was an aircraft with an emergency coming in...we turn on our scanners and sure enough there was an American Airlines 763 declaring an emergency.
American Airlines Flight 5 from DFW was en-route to HNL when they apparently had a mechanical issue (according to AA officials) and declared an emergency and diverted to LAX....She landed with no issue except for the fact that I noticed the Flight Crew didn't use their brakes and left their thrust reversers on for an extended amount of time which is not normal operating procedure. AAL5 taxied to the gate and the aircraft was taken out of service so she did not leave the rest of the day. If anyone knows what happened feel free to leave a comment below.

Great and luck catch, looked like a hydraulic issue
Very interesting catch mate!! :)
I was on this flight, lucky to be in Business Class, midway through the meal we were told of engine trouble and would be making an emergency landing at LAX. Do to the fact we were fueled for Honolulu we were told that the remaining trip, about 1.5 hours would be very bumpy. They had air brakes on plus engines at high speed to burn off fuel, we were to heavy to land. After a very long landing and after firemen boarded plane, we were told the flight was canceled, We then had to leave the plane and get in lines to make connections with other flights to Honolulu. We arrived 8 hours late in Honolulu.
Oh wow, how cool! Thanks for sharing and im glad everything was ok!
Great catch, big thanks for sharing!!!
Poor 767 hope she get airborne again soon tho
