    Thank you for the compatible pattern info. That is very useful to me, I am short and plus sized and sometimes it makes it hard to do a sew along. Please continue that in the future. Thank you!

    My favorite method for patch pockets is to finish the tops and then baste, right sides together, along all other edges. Turn this piece right sides out and give it a very hard press and steam. When you remove the basting you have 2 matching even pockets.

    Love the jeans. My husband installed a metal closet rod in my laundry room. That works really well to hand clothes to dry. I hand the delicates and permanent press loads.

    The jeans look really great on you! I love the color. Wishing that you could do a sew along on Anna Allen’s Philippa pants....(sigh). My husband installed a clothesline in both upstairs bathrooms for me to hang to dry clothing. It attaches to the wall over the shower/tub combination. When you want to use it, just pull it out and it hooks onto the opposite wall. It’s clever and I use both of them all of the time. Amazon of course.

    Pants look good, they are such a fab piece. I think the pattern has those front pockets hidden with the opening in the waistband, l like your option too. I forgot about your twill tape top tip on my last pair ! Happy Easter !

      Yes. The pockets are supposed to be hidden in the waistband. I totally didn’t mention that in this one 🙄. I’ve caught it in tomorrow’s video, though!

I was wondering if you had thought about doing a picture of what you are waring each day with a Chat about how the patterns are when you ware them. like a lookbook of what you ware each day of the week. it would be interesting to see how you put your outfits together. just a suggestion. I have the pattern and the denim and I don't really like a button fly, so I'll wait your video for the zipper!! I think a linen pair would be gorgeous, and I never hear about the twill tape on the waistband, but I'm really interested because I love linen pants for summer and the waist grows so much during the day. As always great content! Also, for a free version, the Wide Leg Pants from Peppermint magazine are quite similar too.

    Your jeans look so professional, like you bought them. So if you have a shorter torso in comparison to waist to floor, is that short waisted?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад +1

      Yes. I have a high, short waist. I’m only 5’2”, but I have an almost 30” inseam which is too long for petite pants in stores (and too short for the regular 🙄). My upper body, however, is super short. I only about 1” between my rib cage and hip bone 😂.

  • @lilybogaards5089
    @lilybogaards5089 3 года назад

    Love what you’re wearing, the print, the colours. Interesting to see those pants. Like the green denim. Have to resist buying this pattern. With my curving hips I need the side seam to get enough shaping. Could add an extra dart at the side but that kind of ... what’s the word; negates? the main feature of the pattern, doesn’t it. Glad you mentioned those alternatives. 💕
    P.s. Yay for linen season coming back! 😉

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад

      This pattern is interesting as I’ve seen quite a few curvier through the hip people (large waist to hip ratio) make them and they look great. I thought about making my daughter a pair to see how they fit her. She has an 11” difference between waist and hip so it could be an interesting comparison!

    always puzzled by the description "sits at/below/above the natural waist"--would that be the top or bottom of the waistband? Thanks!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад

      I think it should be the top of the waistband. The middle of the waistband sits at my natural waist on these, but I probably need to just shorten the rise by 1/2” to fix that.

  • @lindathompson5420
    @lindathompson5420 3 года назад +1

    The pants look great on you! I am only 5'1" so I worry that full pants would make me look shorter. Any hints to elongate my body?

    • @marathonfortruth4768
      @marathonfortruth4768 3 года назад +1

      Perhaps wear head-to-toe the same fabric or color. Creates a longer line.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад +1

      I think the fullness of the pants can be more of an issue with body shape than height. If you do a wider leg and take it to the ground, it will make your legs look really long. If you add a higher rise (waistband hitting at your natural waist) it will make your legs look even longer!

    they look great! I always need a flat butt adjustment...is that possible with this design? Or was the scooping you did just that? (They look wonderful by the way!)

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад

      Thank you! The scoop in the back crotch curve is to give me more room for my butt. It grows out instead of wide and I need the extra length around it. It helps with the wedgie problem 😂.

    The pants turned out great. I have a question - when you order fabric from Minerva? How many meters for 1 yard of fabric? I am sorry I don't know the meteric system.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад

      A yard is 36” and a meter is about 39” of fabric. I usually just order them as if they are the same.

    Well done !!
    So I have been watching you for a while love all your ideas and planning videos,sew the look
    Tutorial videos are very helpful
    Great tips and tricks
    Just a great inspiration and ideas
    And helping out with skills
    Thank you
    I have one suggestion for you
    And I know you have been doing this for a while but I really wish when you do a video showing your makes you are standing up
    hubby is a good photographer but
    Just you are always sitting down and we are looking down at you and can't fully see the garments
    Only little snips of a waistband or a glance at a pocket or something
    I really wish that you would stand up and be back a little
    you can step closer to show a close up of the pocket or something
    But we never get a better look at the full garments as you talk
    Also we never see what you are wearing totally only your shoulders
    It would nice to see the outfits you have made in everyday wear mixed and matched in your wardrobe
    To see how your modules work
    I am not criticizing you to be mean or difficult definitely no offense to be taken but some of the other videos people are standing on the showing of makes and it is so awesome to get a better look
    I really wish you would try it
    Looking forward to more and definitely love your videos
    They haven't helped me so much
    Take care
    Can't wait to see the next make

      Thank you so much and I always welcome ways to improve the channel! I do have the video twirls of me in the pieces I’m talking about (it usually pops up by my head), but I can definitely show more of what I’m actually wearing when I do film. Is that what you are asking for? I definitely want the channel to be as good as possible and any feedback is so helpful!

    Great job Whitney. They look very nice on you. Is there enough room for your thighs and tummy to expand when sitting? I like pants to be comfortable in both positions. I keep holding back on these types of patterns due to this concern. ❤️🌵🇺🇸

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 года назад +2

      I would say that because it’s non stretch denim that they aren’t as comfortable as a denim with some Lycra when sitting. However, after I’ve been in them all day, they’ve molded to my body nicely and feel great. I wore them in the car for an 8 hour drive and they felt just fine!
