    I see this lens being used on Sony with an adapter. And in this video it is being used without an adapter. Which would be amazing. I have a Canon R6 Mark II and would love to use this lens without an adapter. So you would have to go to Sony if you don't need an adapter. Or buy an RF 85mm f/1.2. But then the question remains as to which of the two has better bokeh and rendering. Until I have all the certainty I need, I will hold my RF 50mm f/1.8 as a point and shoot Canon R6 Mark II.

    Just got this lens for Nikon. Can't wait to use it for Weddings. No need for it to be used all day. Great tool just for the park photos then back to 2.8 24-70 for reception...

    I just got this lens and I really like it, sharp images but I do have trouble with the auto focus with objects coming towards me like my daughter riding her bike. As she's coming towards me you can the camera tracking the eye nicely but as I press the shutter you can see the image on the screen pause for a second and then it takes the picture which comes out blurry. But for still photography it is awesome!

    • @StewartMediaDigital
      @StewartMediaDigital  3 года назад +2

      Totally agree. It’s autofocus is really good for most situations but for action and sports it’s not the best

    Great review. I absolutely love my 105mm f1.4. It has almost completely replaced my 85 1.4 for portraits. I also like the large size of it. I’ve noticed with its size I have a more steady shot which comes in hand when using slow shutter speeds in low light situations, keeping me from abusing the ISO. I also own the 135mm but it’s more of a specialty lens for me due to its working distance, but it too is another great lens.

      That’s a really good point about the benefits of the weight for stability. I shoot mostly long events so I tend to think of extra weight as a negative, but you’re totally right

    • @visionz_n_media
      @visionz_n_media 3 года назад +1

      @@StewartMediaDigital Wow I agree shooting long events with that much weight would clearly be an issue. I've yet to test out my setup over 1.5-2hrs

    Hi, thanks for the review. It seems the tube or adapter you have on the lens makes it look strange. Is that the Sony Dedicated one? Spoils the lens, as other mounts are shorter.

    Yes I'm a year late to this video, but I've wanted this lens from the day I heard of it, and seeing what northboarders got out of it. I'm a car photographer and will be using it for stills so I don't care about weight or AF speed, but I'm so hyped for when mine gets here later this week. I've seen images this has put out of cars and it will make some of my shots that much better

  • @TreParker2016
    @TreParker2016 3 года назад +3

    Disagree with you on weight yes it's heavy, but well worth it; l usually mitigate weight with a monopod. It is a lens I feel I cannot leave behind. I always make room for it in my bag.

    • @StewartMediaDigital
      @StewartMediaDigital  3 года назад +2

      I’m glad it works for you and the way you shoot. The image quality is hard to beat. I know for me and a lot of other people weight is a major consideration, especially on long 8-12 hour shoots.

    Compared to the 135 GM, which one you would choose?

    • @StewartMediaDigital
      @StewartMediaDigital  3 года назад +2

      That’s a really tough call. Both produce amazing and unique images. I would probably say the 135 GM just because it’s a bit smaller and easier to use. I could see myself leaving the sigma 105 at home just because it’s so big and heavy.

    • @ralphtime
      @ralphtime 2 года назад +1

      Definitely the 105. I have both. The image that you get from the 105 is just so bad ass that i am really thinking about selling my 135.

  • @박덕배-i6r
    @박덕배-i6r 3 года назад +1

    Sigma glasses on Sony E have autofocus in trouble that will cause your image more unclear. so, you will use it for ONLY still image shots like buildings, mountains, vehicles being parked, but NOT moving subjects (like animals, kids, waves..). Very limited projects only.

    • @StewartMediaDigital
      @StewartMediaDigital  3 года назад

      It depends partially on the camera body. With my a7iii and a7riii the autofocus is nearly just as good as native lenses

  • @Craziestbanana

    I'm sorry but I think you're just use to light weight cameras and lenses because my d800e is already heavy so adding more isn't going to annoy me, like most photographers

    • @StewartMediaDigital
      @StewartMediaDigital  3 года назад

      It really all comes down to preference and what/how you shoot. For long weddings and events I always carry two bodies with two lens and at least one flash. Over 8-12 hours on your feet you start to really feel those extra pounds. But yeah for a couple hours with only one camera it’s really not too bad for most people. Also I should mention the Nikon version is smaller and lighter than the Sony version.
