    NJ staff have hated Holtz for years.
    Makes no sense.

    Holtz took way too long to develop and when he did make the team he didn’t show that sniper, major goal scoring ability.
    He didn’t play defense or skate well so we may have sold low but we need bottom six players that are tough and can help us right now so I understand this move.

      That because they gave him 8 mins a night on the 4th line lol. He's gonna be a 40 goal scorer and we just fked up.

      @@Regurgitator85 From what I understand, they gave him 8 mins a night because he was defensive liability.
      Why does everyone seem to believe he was a great all-around talent and Lindy Ruff just arbitrarily didn't like him personally?

      @bted 26 дней назад +1

      Holtz definitely has some scoring potential. But I agree he was a problem in other areas.
      I agree NJ needs toughness and grit in the bottom 6, so I understand it too.

    I dont mind Cotter but the trade package is too big.. i dont see why Fitz would give up these 2 guys for him.

  • @bted
    @bted 26 дней назад +1

    It does seem like a lot to give up for a bottom six guy. And it doesn't look great because Holtz was a high draft pick.
    However, Holtz was slow and he was a problem away from the puck, as I understand it.
    Scoring was not the problem in NJ this past year. It was defense, size, toughness, and goaltending.
    If Cotter's scouting report is accurate, he'll be a good fit.

      Schmid/daws/poulter in albany, schmid and daws need new deals, poulter had the best seasom and still under contract so one of schmid/daws had to go. Holtz hasnt panned out, i thought the issue was his management but of he got rejected in trades like is being said and also didnt even make team sweden, maybe the problem is with him. Regardless, holtz was gonna be a 3rd liner this season in nj, so getting a guy that actually plays a 3rd line game and a pick seems reasonable

    Fitzgerald is a terrible GM. Should have been fired at the end of the season. Now he is in panic mode because he knows he'll be fired if he has another bad year. Just flinging poo at the wall hoping it sticks. Not going to end well.
