Canes looking at signing Necas to a variety of contract lengths. He will remain part of the core with Aho, Necas, Jarvis, Svechnikov, and Slavin. They have a ton of prospects. They have full control over Necas after his next contract too. They have a ton of young prospects too. Boom Nitchken will arrive next year.

If he resigns for two or more seasons he'll become UFA eligible at the contracts end at which point the Canes will no longer have control over him. The sooner he's out of Raleigh the better for Marty IMO as he's got to be fed up with RBA's meat grinder & woefully outdated man to man defensive scheme. Moreover the teams hyper-critical, misguided, & over entitled fan-base are a nightmare to deal with. For all intents & purposes the Triangle areas "Canes Country" fan forum on SB Nation seems to serve as the nations de facto "White Trash" capitol of the south.

@FlyHenryFly Necas is not a fan of the way the teams been managed & all the blatant favoritism for the Finnish clique (i.e. Aho, Teravainen, Rotteniemi, Raanta, Pulijarvi, Fast etc) along with their side kicks Svech & Jarvis.
I can guarantee that Necas will no longer be with the Canes once he's UFA eligible after the 2025-26 season. Believing whatever home baked rah, rah nonsense that NHL players distill for public consumption is beyond naive. Necas didn't even attend Aho's wedding a couple weeks back & he's not close with any of his Canes teammates outside of Svech. And Necas absolutely abhors being slotted with Kotkaniemi who's among the most ineffective Center's in the NHL.

I mean that doesn't put anything to bed. Clearly they aren't trading him now. Right now he's got arbitration to go through. He initiated it so the team can force it to 2 years. Which they probably will. Which will increase his trade value. So clearly since he entered arbitration that was going to be the case. I'm sure talks are ongoing but they aren't going to actually finalize until they know what his cap hit actually is. I still think it's more likely he gets traded before the season begins then not. But regardless. If that happens or doesn't he'll still get move. Carolina doesn't want him, and he doesn't want to be in Carolina.

@ScottStenlundNecas had a lot of interest due to his potential and skill. Also Tulsky said he would trade him if he had any offer that was just too good to deny but he had made it clear that unless it was something amazing the Canes were going to keep him.

Once we gave up the rights to Guentzel it was kinda clear we were keeping Necas. The market just kinda isn’t there Ehlers for Necas just never made sense. We need to figure out the KK situation and probably give Necas first line time with Jarvis and Aho. Would like to sign Sprong if he’s still available to bolster that middle nine

Once Marty Necas is UFA eligible in a couple seasons I'm sure he'll move on from the Hurricanes. Dude has watched Kotkaniemi, Svech, Aho, Slavin, & soon Jarvis procure eight year contract extensions while he's gotten the shaft. They kept the kid in the AHL an extra season despite his being the #2 rated prospect in the entire league, then they strapped him to an entry level contract for an additional year, before eventually awarding him a two year bridge deal at $3M a season. His bridge deal was mice nuts compared to the $45m in compensation that KK received. Beyond that they've paired him with 4th liners & bottom sixers like Martinook, Drury, Noesen, Bunting, & KK (who's arguably the worst Center in the NHL) which has hindered his productivity. Additionally, he's had to endure Rod Brind'Amour's "two way system" & out-dated man to man defensive scheme in which he's less than an ideal fit while being unfairly relegated to the their 2nd PP unit.
The Canes front office seems to blatantly foster a culture involving a lot of petty (and rampant) favoritism for twilighting vets & faded grinders like Staal, Martinook, Pacorietty, Stastny, Stepan, Burns, Orlov, & Andersen.
Through-out his tenure in Raleigh, Marty has also been the focal point of a lot of abusive behavior from both the local media & the Canes overly entitled fan-base. 😂 IMO, he's a supremely gifted Winger who has been the least of the teams issues in terms of the franchise's ongoing postseason disappointment(s) & inability to get over the hump.
