You reset the system by pressing A-B-C-D and start together, no matter what you're doing. Much more convenient than a reset button!
@ironmike southern it was convenient 5 years ago
no
Well...
beat me to it by 7 years
Watching in 2019: Games like Samurai Shodown isn't known for being fast-paced nor combo heavy. It's mainly a footsy/heavy damage game. It's a thinking man's game where you need some strategy to help you win.
Crossed Swords always made me think about the Phantasy Star game battles, imagining both of those mixed together would be damn amazing 0___0
AlphaOmegaSin sup alpha lol
Really? It reminds me of the times you’re using one of those big urinals and you cross pee streams with the guy next to you. That’s crossing swords (in the UK anyway).
Another fantastic episode!
Amen, Johnny.
I loved Viewpoint as a kid. I would always play it when I went to the dentist office, which had a Neo Geo MVS in their waiting room.
Viewpoint is Amazing. I have the AES and CD
What a great dentist
Mine only had dreadful anticipation and stale Donald duck magazines.
I stayed up 'til midnight just to watch Game Sack.
Game Sack is better than 98% of all television programming.
PhilipsCDi Only 98%???? I disagree.
It's better than 98.1% of all television programming.
As of now there is nothing on tv or movies that is better than game sack.
a few shows still running like always sunny, south park... clarkson's grand tour... jojo's bizarre adventure and captain tsubasa.... game sack is up there though.
If Game Sack was on TV, I would totally watch it
99!
Excellent episode! The Neo CDZ didn't have a double speed cd drive, it had larger amount of cache, which cut down the loading times. Also, Samurai Shodown had weak, medium & strong attacks on the first 2 games.
2:11 That Neo Geo CD Shrine is fucking epic.
Another awesome video as usual guys! I don't own the NeoGeoCD, but this video games me want to own one!
Hey metal Jesus!
I have been trying to emulate neo geo cd games on retropie and I still can't figure out how to get it to work. Any info will help.
Hidden Gems!
I love you Metal Jesus, you rock. I am your biggest fan from Thailand.
MetalJesusRocks, I'm such a fan of game sack and you. i love both of your videos. i love retro gaming.
brilliant show , you can really see how much care and effort is taken with every episode . thanks guys i really look forward to these
This is now my favourite RUclips channel. Thanks guys I love what you do :)
You know a lot of channels on RUclips use the term "show" very loosely, but you guys actually put the time and effort and have a great show. Still waiting on that Genesis episode though Joe. JK not really
The Last Blade and Samurai Showdown are my favorite Neo Geo games.
Samurai showdown is so good it gives me shivers!!
This ep made me go out and buy a Neo-Geo cd, got it for a cheap price and it came with a game. I love the consoles of the 90's and especially love 2d sprites so this was a must have...Saturn and Neo-Geo cd 4 lyfe!!!
Love the stop-motion effects. You guys are awesome! Please keep bringing us these interesting looks into past consoles!
Awesome list. One of the small details I loved in Kabuki Clash was when you did a same character fight, the loser would turn into a Tanooki or Kitsune. Both japanese animals known to transform into humans in folklore. Just a neat touch. :)
Just got back from the thrift store. Didn't find The Last Blade for $5 :(
You guys are awesome. I really look forward to these reviews each week. So much effort and passion is incorporated into each episode. Great job!
I stumbled across this video literally one year after it was posted. Great job guys i really do enjoy all of your videos and love for video gaming and its history. Be encouraged that your work is very much appreciated!
With a reset button, the Neo Geo CD would have been 10 as much as the cartridge model. Reset buttons are worth more than gold and are used as currency in over 50 countries.
A,B,C,D + start & select. This how to get a soft reset ffs...
@@ultor7654 That's not a reset button though.
This is the one show on RUclips I never miss. Great job guys!
Love going back and watching old Game Sack episodes! You guys are great!
Lol, Dave's double-triple-quadruple takes at the end had me rolling. You guys rock
I always look forward to new episodes of game sack.
The neo geo CD is an interesting console, it's too bad its been mostly forgotten about.
cant stop. watching. this channel. too much. awesome.
One of the best gaming channels on RUclips...they should have way more subscribers.
It's so awesome to be watching this episode and I see a fighting game I remember playing at a friend's house but could never remember the name of the game or even the system it was on, but now I know, it's samurai showdown on the neo Geo, it's crazy to think I had a friend who could afford the system. Thanks for the video
Man when my phone alerts me of a new Game Sack video, I get so excited. This is my favorite channel, by far.
My friend has a CDZ and he's thinking of selling it. Works perfectly still and I desperately want it. He's asking 500 for it and I just don't have that right now >.>
Hope you get it. Don't let him see this video as he might change his mind and remember all of the fun times he had with it.
David White
Great idea but knowing him, he's probably watched it already. I got him hooked a few months back. Just hoping he lowers the price.
Ahh the Neo Geo CD. Great memories. Thanks for this guys. Great ep.
You guys still impress me with you're high quality production RUclips videos. I didn't know there was a Neo Geo CD console. Keep up the good work.
I love the time these guys put into their videos, it's what separates them from a lot of the other reviewers.
Best produced show on RUclips....hands down.
Agreed!
Great episode, fellas. I've always been interested in the Neo Geo CD as a cheaper alternative to expensive AES carts so it was nice to see such a comprehensive rundown of the library.
hey Joe, good to see you here. you should make an episode about some of the NeoGeo games sometimes. i love your channel and i am a subscriber to it.
Thanks for the kind words! I'd love to do a Neo Geo video, but I don't have a Neo Geo! I only do videos on games I physically own, since my show's all about great games you can get for cheap. Maybe someday!
My Neo CD died a long time ago but I still have my KoF and Samurai Shodown collection. Great video!
oh my god i love you guys. Top Hunter is an arcade game i absolutely loved in a roller rink as a kid and i've been looking for it for SO LONG
Fantastic presentation guys. Really, really well done. 10/10
Do you know what would be f*cking awesome?? If they relauched this console nowadays. So many incredible games and and I've never seen a Neo Geo in my life.
I've seen a few Neo Geo MVS cabinets here and there but none of em had KOF
What's interesting to note is even though IronClad was a Neo-Geo CD exclusive, they did have plans to release it on the Neo-Geo MVS. We can confirm this by the existence of the Wii Virtual Console's release. The game was a straight ROM release and not the cd version. Meaning, you could actually take the rom directly from the WII Virtual console and play it on your Neo-Geo MVS or AES by converting another cart to IronClad. It was quite a surprise in the Neo-Geo Community when it happened.
Hell Yeah!
I was in you Episode index watching old episodes waiting for this one!
Thanks guys!
Twinkle Star Sprites is one of my all time favorite games ! Just a total blast to play it, in every sense of the word hahahahahaha
Space shooters are cool, and Twinkle Star Sprites looks cute, and I'd try playing that. But I'm just not a fighting game fan. Neo Geo Graphics were like combining SNES with Sega Genesis, and then injecting it with mild steroids. Some of those games were surprisingly polished. I bet 32X could match that quality, though. What's your take on that, cool cat?
Marcus I. 32X doesn't get close to NeoGeo, it runs out of steam at quarter way through :P
I never had the privelage of playing a home NEO GEO console... Well except for the NEO GEO Pocket color. Yeah, 32X was Sega's biggest, but coolest mistake. The timestream would be very different if it weren't for that ugly black mushroom of an addon! :) Yet I have fond memories of Knuckles Chaotix, and a near perfect Space Harrier and After Burner arcade port.
Always awesome! Way to go Joe & Dave!
I really, really love all classic consoles episodes! especially the Neo Geo ones! Keep the excellent work!
I think this was your best video, guys! Congratulations for this awesome episode! Game Sack
As I stated on their Facebook page a couple weeks ago, this is the only RUclips subscription I anticipate new videos on. For some reason I can't find my comment on their page anymore though....
Huh, so the Neo Geo does have games besides fighters and the Metal Slug series...
I kid, great episode as always.
So of all the comedy skits at the end of all the episodes... this one so far is definately my favourite!!!!!
It's a good day when a new Gamesack episode appears in my subscription queue
Game Sack console episodes are the best episodes.
Awesome episode! I absolutely love my NGCD, and I'd love to have a complete library for it eventually, I'm at about 75 games right now. Sadly, the CDZ has eluded me to this day.
Can you recommend me some games? :D (No sports hahaha)
Well, I really like Mutation Nation which is an awesome beet 'em up, and there are a couple of Sonic Wings games too, those are some great shoot 'em ups.
KidShoryuken Thx
Did you reach your goal of a complete ngcd collection? I'm at about 40 myself so I still got a ways to go.
I'm glad you featured Twinkle Star Sprites. It's one if my favorites. Shock Troopers 2 also holds up today. Although most of these games only hold my attention for less than an hour. Great video!
that rallying game gets serious brownie points for having an actual toyota celica, mitsubishi lancer evo and a subaru impreza wrx. all classic and killer rally cars.
One of the best episodes guys
Really loved to see all those neo geo obscure fighting games
Cheers from brazil!
Damn I didn't know there was a crossed sword 2
haha benzaie t'es partout!
Pao Tai Tai what language speaks you?
French
HEHE ! Old friend !
Very high quality video guys, thanks for the episode!
Hell yeah! A new episode! Instant loved it. Thank you guys!
Karnov is supposed to be a Russian of Mongolian ancestry, hence his "Chinese" appearance in Karnov's Revenge.
What is the best retro game channel on RUclips and why is it Game Sack?
I love these videos. Nothing better than watching them on my days off while eating breakfast.
I get super happy when I see a gamesack video on my subscriptions!
with the retro game bubble spiraling out of control, I surmise a NGCDZ will cost about 32 thousand dollars by 2018
Just about. I imagine by 2020 they'll either be 50k, or resellers will come to realize that they've driven the actual players to emulation and the values will come down again.
I stick to buying just the Games for my collection. I have a AES, which does'nt work an it is just for showing purposes. Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD can be emulated perfectly today. So if more people would think this way (collection the physical media mostly for the artwork) the prices would drop immedatly. As long as people are willing to pay those prices, as long they will stay this way.
Nope, i bought one right now in ebay for around 200€, this is 2018
2018
Found a bunch for R$1000 with games which is about U$350
NOPE..ITS 2019 AND GOT ONE FOR 250 QUID.
That was probably the funniest ending gag you guys have done on the show
Man I love the info and the games you review, but my absolutely favorite part of Game Sack is the final skit, and this one was hilarious, that slap was epic XD
Great episode guys, i like when they are longer like this.
I would love to see you guys tear into super old systems... Atari, Odyssey 2, ColecoVision... I know thats not your bag (or Sack) but I would love to hear Joe have to say ".003 mega power!" before a KC Munchkin review..
Thanks for doing an entire episode on the Neo CD.. I feel it's definitely an overlooked system because of all the hardcore Neo Geo elitists that only believe the AES / MVS is real. Even though I also own a MVS cabinet, I still would never give up my Neo CD..
I've always wanted to try the Neo Geo CD. Though I disagree with all the Neo Geo X hate. I have one and love mine.
***** final burn alpha is better! than that piece of crap hahaha
*****
Yeah, i can't get it, how it's possible to make such crappy emulation today when i played games at full speed without any glitches or hiccups on 333MHz K6-2 10 years ago, and TV out, especially composite, sucks balls, which is insult on Neo-Geo name - real systems have excellent video quality, with RGB and 21" Sony BVM monitor it looks awesome and even simple composite output with 21" 2003 Samsung CRT TV it looks great (i'm a bit lazy to make DIN to SCART cable for that TV). If you want a pocket Neo-Geo, just use PSP or one of those android consoles with open source emulators, and Neo-Geo X place is the trash can.
Awesome. I love these Neo Geo episodes. Keep up the great work guys!
After watching this episode I went to ebay and searched Turf Masters and sure enough there is a copy on there for £11,000 ($19,000) LMAO good & luck with that one.
You were able to point out the loading times on Last Blade in quite an amusing way.
The skit at the end was priceless as well. Hope to see more, as with the X68000 comp as well!
Top quality stuff guys! loving these system reviews :) so much good content!
I must say that I really enjoy your videos, and all the effort put into each one.
Note: I watch them all the way through. Right now at 25:56-
Wonderful job as usual guys :).
Cool episode!:D Am I the only one that Twinkle Star Sprites's mechanic and gameplay reminds of Touhou 3 Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream for the PC-98?
Another great episode. Nice work guys.
Last Blade on Neo Geo CD loading time gives me Sonic 06 flashbacks.
I love this show.
Great episode guys keep ti up.
Joe, Dave, you guys make me feel good.
Great show guys! You should do a "sketch-only" special; you guys are hilarious!
Ótimo episódio, como sempre!
When it comes to quality SNK never failed, not a single mediocre or shitty game on the SNK Arcade library. And that's why i always love their games.
+Rodrigo wolf Absolutely, those 2D background retro is beautiful. If they make a JRPG with same artstyle, its will blow
+bunnyfreakz wat game?
But it's all arcadestyle games. I wish they would have used the hardware for some other genres in those days. A RPG or Action Adventure for the AES oder CD would have been awesome. On the big cartridges you had about 80 MB (640 Mbit) of space. If they went with smaller sprites there would have been plenty of space putting Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 to shame in 1994/1995, which had t o deal wtih 4 MB of Space on the SNES-cartridge.
I enjoy every episode from you guys, but endings always make me laugh. :D
Another awesome review!! You guys do a great job.
I wonder if the ratio between the time I spend waiting for my NG:CD to load is comparable to the difference in money I would make working for that same amount of time, and spending the money on an MVS version of the same game instead. Perhaps, but I'm too impatient to do the calculations ;P
Why don't these dudes have more subscribers??
DAVE IS WEARING A GOLDEN AXE SHIRT, THE UNIVERSE IS IMPLODING IN ON ITSELF!!
I didn't know the Neo Geo CD was developed as a cost-effective alternative to the original Neo Geo system. I always just figured it was a response to the ill-conceived CD system boom of the early 90s, but I guess a cost-reduced version makes more sense for the Neo Geo.
It's official. I want you guys as my neighbors. :]
Are you a good cook? If so then I would consider it. :)
Oh god. I make great foods. We also have bbq outings with our friends. You guys would probably hate me with our social gatherings at times.
awesome episode, i love my japanese gear and so the cdz looks like a must own for me!
Might wanna heavily look into the cost of neogeo stuff before you make the plung.
yeah i know its expensive and i had most of the games on my mame cab anyway but still I'm a nut for japanese hardware and games
***** Plus you have a show to put on. :D Just keep those N64 reviews coming too because I love them.
Love you guys' epilogues.
Cool, lots of info on a system I knew very little about aside from the Neo Geo connection and the loading times (and I'm not surprised to learn that they're exaggerated).
Broadcast quality show here!
you two look like you enjoy crossing swords
they never even meanta dew it
This was a great episode! I loved all the games featured.
Amazing episode ! You guys are the best ! Keep doing the amazing work!
I almost bought the 1x cd read version back in 1995 here in Brazil, but I ended buying the Sega Saturn and didn't regret, as the Sega console also had lots of SNKs classics. And the loading times on the 1x cd rom version are really really annoying...
Contemplating buying one of these because of just how ridiculous AES collecting has become. I was contemplating buying an AES and a converter but that's easily $600 right there wheras I have seen bundles on eBay that come with two controllers and a few games for $250. What would you guys reccomend?
Dave was so funny. Sad he left
I bought the Neo Geo CD in 1995 and I had so much fun with that. Back then I still had the nerves to get through the hardest fighting games ever.
Hell yeah, Twinkle Star Sprites! I happened upon that game at Arcade UFO once and immediately fell in love. How that game didn't get ported around as much as Puzzle Bobble I'll never know.
