I love flaxseed gel. I did a vey simple recipe by boiling the flax seed and adding EVOO and coconut oil. The next time I mix up mine I will add marshmallow root and slippery elm to use as a leave in gel. On a side note, really off topic here... Marshmallow root makes amazing tea especially if you have a sore throat, tonsilitis, bronchitis, or a cold. It works great because it gets rid of inflamation.
Alternatively, you can use infused water when you boil the flaxseeds. You do this by boiling the herbs in water first, strain, and then use that herb-infused water to boil the flaxseeds. That’s what I do with my camomile flaxseed gel.
Do not boil the herbs. Oy. 1. Place them in water. 2. Allow the water to get WARM. 3. Remove the pot from heat 4. Cover and let sit for 20. 5. Strain and transfer the water to the flax seed pot.
I actually made some of the flaxseed gel with additional henna, aloe powder, and fenugreek. It did not end up having a very good hold on my hair texture but BOY it is soo moisturizing and makes my hair feel super soft. I started adding it to my routine in replacement of my store bought leave in conditioner. Game changer.
I soaked Flaxseeds and Seamoss overnight and it turned into the most Amazing Gel. Strained and added Preservative and some essential oils for use when I wash my hair. Will mix it with my Conditioner, leave on for 30 mins and then Rinse off. Then Oil and Chebe butter for Sealant. Best Routine Ever Thanks for all of your wonderful videos and information 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Im not sure if you have many young men watch your channel but I certainly do! Thank so very much for this video! It has been very helpful! I have been wanting to make my own flaxseed gel. I was thinking about adding marshmallow root, slippery elm, aloe juice, agave and some carrier oils (avocado, jojoba) and some essential Jazmine and lemongrass oils. I never would have thought to use hibiscus and amla but that sounds wonderful to add! And using henna infused water i think is so clever and genius! I really appreciate your channel and all the knowledge you provide! P.S. I just received the all things o' natural leave in conditioner in lemongrass fragrance! I cannot wait and today is wash day!! Thank you for all of your help!💜💙❤

I have a love/hate relationship with flaxseed DIY gel. It REALLY curls my hair, but sometimes it leaves it VERY dry. I've taken to mixing it with marshmallow root and some of my ayurvedic growth oil. MUCH BETTER!
I was thinking of adding marshmallow root to my gel too because I don't want crunchy curls & mostly just want something with lots of slip to help detangle & keep my hair detangled. Right now I don't have marshmallow root or slippery elm, so am thinking of using fenugreek seeds as a substitute since I have that on hand.
ShaunieBNaturalista Actually I use a some oil /shea butter (small amount) after flaxseed gel to avoid dryness. I avoid putting too much gel as well and it works for me for a few years I’ll say. You need to twist them as well
Deffo gonna try this! I’ve been doing cassia, shikikai (I know I’ve spelt that wrong lol) & Amla on my hair every Sunday - my hair has grown about 2-3 inches in 3 months - and I’ve been chopping off my heat damage! My fringe was about just below my eyes and it’s now below my mouth. Cannot thank you enough for all your videos and your knowledge. You are a angel ❤️✌🏼
I’ve been incorporating fenugreek into my gel. Since the seeds produce a gelatinous substance, as well. Going to try this soon along with my fenugreek!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I never thought of putting henna in my flaxseed gel. I used Nupur henna, also added aloe vera, and my essentials oils. My hair loves it. It feels so nourished & hydrated. It smells fantastic. Thanks again.😘
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. I have made flaxseed gel in the past as I do NOT like how commercial gels flake and dry my curls. Next time I make the gel, I shall be sure to make these additions. Blessings.

Stop limiting your hair’s ability. 4c hair does not mean short hair for life. There are a ton of long 4c hair girls right here on RUclips. Be patient, love your hair and treat it well. The more natural the products the better.
Hey, I didn't see you strain it. That's the hard part for me especially if you let it set for a minute with those other herbs. Thanks for the video I was about to make flaxseed gel today!
My husband discovered the secret to straining it ( he also whips shea butter!): Cook flaxseeds (we also add hibiscus tea bags) to desired thickness. Don't let it cool. Once the thickness is to your liking, put a strainer over your storage container, pour in, and let it cool in whatever container you want to store it in. Works everytime!
Hi Curly Proverbz! This is an excellent spin on the flaxseed gel I have made flaxseed gel before and I will definitely be making it again with this super herbs! Thanks again! Xoxo Liz💞
I have the Nupur Henna as opposed to all of the individual herbs right now. Also I have hibiscus powder. So should I just make a tea out of that before putting it on the stove and adding in the flax seeds? I am loving all the different ways to infuse ayurveda into so much of my hair routine. You are the best ever! The only one I actually pay attention to my notifications for, real talk lol. Hope all is well.
This is great. It would have been great if you showed how you got the gel from the pot to the jar. I've tried making home made gel but getting it from the pot to a jar was a HUGE mess

I've always done flaxseed and add in some essential oils. The combination is wonderful and moisturizing. I have hibiscus,so at some point I'll try this.
Hi!!!! Great video, thank you for sharing. Would this work using amla powder and hibiscus powder? You look amazing and so glad to see your back on camera and taking time to interact with us! ☺️💕
You could probably make an infusion with hibiscus first and then add it to the flaxseed after you've strained the powder. Similar to how she said to do if you add henna

Hi CurlyProverbs Where xan I find the Amla and Hibiscus herbs? I want to make sure I make this recipe exactly the way you do. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.
Hi Gorg...love you to the moon and back for what you do for us ❤ !!! Wondering if you could do a video for new mothers and those that are currently preggo. Just a healthy regime for during and post pregnancy. Thanks so much!!
Love flax gel! Do you find this one leaves any white cast or flakes on the scalp? I used to use just flax and water and it made my scalp look flaky, so I stopped using it. Also, any advice about gray coverage with Henna? It always makes mine a brassy dark orange...not a fan of that. Thanks for all your great videos!!!! 💕
RebeLSmith I've been using henna & indigo in a 2step process (a paste of 1part henna to 2parts indigo for the 1st step, then the 2nd step is just plain indigo & water paste applied directly after rinsing out the 1st step) to dye my hair from 70% grey to jet black for about a yr & a half now. At 1st I felt like it was a long strenuous process but loved the results so I kept doing it & 4months into my new routine I needed less henna indigo treatments since the color started to last longer! 😍 now with a few random touch ups here & there NO ONE believes I had ever been grey

I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, but I only had ground flax (didn’t work so well). I finally got whole seeds and I’m making it today. 💗
You could use ground flax seeds to make this gel. ;-)
I was waiting for this video! Thanks :)
Sonya really?! That's awesome X
Yes, thanks for posting this! Is your DIY detanglers video pretty up-to-date, or will you be creating another sometime soon?
Curly Proverbz How long does it grow long natural hair when I start deep condition and also what homemade protein treatment that is good and vegan without henna coloring my hair .
🙌🏽💛New gel recipe, nice. How do you like flax seed gel in comparison to slippery elm & Aloe Vera powder? Does flax seed set soft or firm?
Love this one too can I add indigo as well? Thank you
I love Hibiscus! 💜 Thank you 👍
Thank you for all your in-depth information and inspiration. I have been looking for a flax seed gel recipe for my daughter and I will be using this one. I'll let you know how it works out.
I always used to make flaxseed gel but never thought of how to include ayuverdic herbs! Could I use henna instead of amla? Thanks for sharing
Hi CurlyProverbs
Where xan I find the Amla and Hibiscus herbs? I want to make sure I make this recipe exactly the way you do. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos.

Thank you so much . I will try this tonight
Hi Gorg...love you to the moon and back for what you do for us ❤ !!! Wondering if you could do a video for new mothers and those that are currently preggo. Just a healthy regime for during and post pregnancy. Thanks so much!!
Can we get some fenugreek recipes??
keyia look on her channel she has so many recipe
Google "henna + indigo two step process for grey hair," worth looking into 👌 good luck 💕
And it came out such a pretty color
Omg I have a huge back or organic hibiscus tea! So excited!
Thank you so much!
This is everything! I love flaxseed gel. I can't wait to try your receipe!
Love this video. Will the hibiscus in the gel stain gray hair ?
Thanks for this video! It's a nice option to some of the other flaxseed gel recipes here on RUclips. Also, can you work on looking into the camera lens when you're filming? It just makes your videos more endearing. 😊
Trumpesss hey love glad youike it and sure just really conscious as footage from two or three vids was unusable as it all went out of focus on my now old camera so I be checking constantly 🤦♂️
Trumpesss Wow! I'm new to this comment/chat room etiquette and flow on RUclips but I am used to being on TV and doing videos in the industry like real videos and Broadcasting. YTUBE is very different and take some getting used to. I'm just taking notes on what to do and not do with my channel these comments sections never cease to amaze me LOL😊 you're comment caught my eye that's the reason I replied. It was funny
Curly Proverbz I understand and still love, love your videos. Adding your tips and tricks has been a game-changer for my hair. 😍
Sunshine's karma Yes... Think of looking into the lens just like giving people eye contact. If you’re talking to someone in person you look directly at them and not to the side. Good luck with your channel. 😃
Thanks for another great tip, and how often do you use this?
Deffo gonna try with henna infusion. Thank yooooooou!
i like this ! so i can carry the seeds through the airport nicely rather than the huge tub of gel. and its healthierr
Great video! Can't wait to make it! I tend to steer away from henna cuz I don't want the color but amla iz bae
didn't know u could add all this to the flaxgel i will be trying this tonight.....
Where can we purchase the Amla and hibiscus you used in the video? I have made flaxseed gel before. Happy to try it again with the additionally ingredients. Not using eco style anymore.
Januarymay1127 Amazon my love. Why no more.ecostyler? X
Two reasons I find it to dry my hair more these days and word on the street the ingredients may be harmful. I have been searching for a gel with more natural ingredients any way. Trying out soultanicals called laid...fenugreek is used so that is a plus. Verdict is still out reminds me of aloe gel a bit.
