You don't need any tutorial, all settings are written in this video's description. Those not mentioned are at default. Just use the same settings and you'll be fine (ofcourse game speed vastly depends on your PC, even if you copy my exact settings)
@TheFred128 This is as real as it gets, the textures are rendered from their actual source to whichever resolution we choose. We don't grab the textures on native resolution and stretch them, we actually render them at our chosen res.
@MousseEnBiday You can play the game with the post processing effects if you play it in software mode of GSdx but that would require a beast of a CPU to emulate at full speed...
No all plugins used are included in the PCSX2 packages. Using a newer revision from pcsx2.net (click SVN on the top menu) will probably be even better. As I said previously, speed mainly depends on your PC, so I guess it's not up to par.
Yes as said in the description these work only if you set GSdx to a software renderer. But then you get a big speed hit and lose all the upscaling eye candy...
The post processing effect is not emulated properly in the GSdx plugin when using a hardware renderer. The only way to get the proper effect is by using a software renderer of the plugin. Depends on your controller, maybe you need to adjust the axis sensitivity (especially for xbox360 controllers)
@olidude7 Because the GPU isn't doing any emulation. It just renders what the graphics plugin tells it to. It's the console's CPU that's being emulated.
I have this really weird glitch and I'm wondering if you could help me... at the beginning of the game, after swimming through the River of the Heavens, Ammy has this weird light blue rectangular box under her. I've tried everything to fix it... and it does not disappear in further scenes. Any ideas?
Not sure if dolphin emulates the paper effects properly, it's the only thing not working with PCSX2 on hardware mode. Other than that, it looks amazing upscaled on PCSX2
@allisonandbailee Yes, this is a PS2 emulator. The download links for the program are in the video description. You can buy the game at any store that sells ps2 games.
Press F9 to see which effects have been removed from hardware mode. If you're the same guy from the forum, keep asking there, something is definitively wrong since with that system you should be getting about 150 FPS :P
You should probably post in our support forum, youtube comments isn't the best place to debug something...also always include your plugins used and all your settings to get better help
So there is absolutely no way to enable postprocessing and paper effect in direct3d mode? Because software mode shows how the game actually looks on the PS2 but lags horribly. I'm yet to try other graphics plugins but I'm afraid I'll have to stick to the standard driver.
Srsly, I can't get the game to work! It runs at like 5-20 fps and everything goes in slowmotion :( Also, when I'm trying to aply the 'GSDx (SSE4/SSE3)' it says that the selected GS failed to load :( So I can only play with the 'SSE2' one.
is this video useing the 0.9.9 (which i cant fine or it isnt out) or 0.9.8 because i tried it with 0.9.8 and the graphics were all mest upp when using the brush and also how do you compare using he emulator to other games like what games should i be able to run so i would be able to run this(for example battlefield 3 at max settings should mean i would be able to run this)
Can someone explain to me why the rice paper filter doesn't work for this game? Like when you use the celestial brush, there should be a filter which doesn't show up. Also, is it a limitation of the plugin I'm using or controller I'm using that's causing me to only be able to move in 8 directions? It makes painting and controlling Ammy really awkward.
@PCSX2team ok the game runs smoothly at 60 fps but when i look up into the sky or down into the clouds on the beginning level it drops down to 20-30 fps is there something specefic im doing wrong in the settings?
@TheFred128 Right, then try running PCSX2 with filtering disabled and AA disabled. So then according to you, it would not help getting nice graphics if you set internal res to let's say 2400x2400...or maybe you don't know what you're talking about.
when i do brush techniques i can't draw circles ... and i need your help... How can you draw circles? ... i'm really sad because i finally got okami iso for pcsx2 and it works (works slowly but...) i will wait for your response.
Please.. Please please tell me how you got it to work.. I have been working at this for nearly 3 hours and I cant get it to work. I have the emulator. I have downloaded the game a few times now. But I cant get it to actually read the rom.. Please can someone help me?
Will I be able to play it in HD if I buy the PS2 disk and use that to play it on the emulator or do I have to download a special ROM? In other words, are the HD graphics a product of the emulator or is it something else? Thanks
@andrmar94 No because the requirements change vastly from game to game. You can check out the "Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer" thread in our General Discussion for Windows forum at forums.pcsx2.net for a rough idea.
@dendonflo OK as I thought, that game version has not been included in the special fix list (we currently have the US,JAP and FR regions of the game). Sorry to tell you but you will not get support for downloaded games in our forum, it's our policy so we won't get into any legal trouble. Your CRC will be included in a future SVN though.
Setting resolution to native will only reduce the GPU load. Almost everyone having speed issues are bottlenecked by their CPU not their GPU, so that would probably not help :P
I tried playing this game on my ps2 using FreeMcBoot to run this game from my USB Stick and USBUtil to convert the ISO. But the game froze when it was loading, why did that happen?
WOW - I just started to play this game on ps2 - must admit the emulator does great job to run it so smoothly , both - picture and sound - wise ! One day I will play it on the wall over emulato, for now ps2 must be enough... Thanks for it !
I have an Gateway NV5922h laptop. Its has an i3-370M processor, 8 GB RAM, an ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 1GB (dedicated) graphics card. Will PCSX2 run well on my laptop or will it be slow as molasses?
I guess post-processing isn't working right with hardware mode yet. Do you think it ever will? I really want to stream this game (Yes, I own it, I ripped the ISO from my own disc >_>) but would rather not stream it with inferior/inaccurate graphics.
@AlfredX1990 You can't really compare the GC/Wii with the PS2. PS2's structure is totally alien compared to the PC, it uses a full software renderer (GS) for graphics and has the EE, the IOP, VU0 and VU1 parallel processors running, which you have to keep in sync. It's pretty complex, for more info you can read this thread (has some external useful links too): forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Why-is-PCSX2-slow
my graphics is bugged, grey artifacts everywhere i'm using pcx2 1.1.0. (HD5850 phenom x4 4gb ram) how can i fix it? [my pc is not low spec for ps2 emulator]
I'm searching for a solution from mounth now, when I play Okami on pcsx2, most of textures are grey/black, it make the game unplayable, if someone already had the same problem and solved it, please tell me how you did that. PS: If my english's bad, sorry, I'm French so I will try to explain it better.
It should perform nicely on most games. It won't get full speed on the demanding ones but you will certainly by able to play full speed a variety of games ;)
+EdwardTennant Gaming really? took the firs week of playing it xD every boss battle has 1 every area has one and some bush and person in an area has 1 sometimes 2 and 1 time access dungeon have also last one is at the final boss it was wierd being immune to damage at the boss fight i felt op :D
@PCSX2team Hum... All I found in the console when running the game and who could be it are: ELF does not have a path. And GSdx: CrcHacksExclusions: Bios Found: Europe v01.60(04/10/2001) Console BIOS rom1 module not found, skipping... BIOS rom2 module not found, skipping... BIOS erom module not found, skipping... But there's nothing else who have CRC, GSdx or ELF inside :\ And, in the sources, EFL is activated, even if i don't know if it will change anything.
Oh full speed is not a matter of perception with PS2 games, 60 FPS for NTSC and 50 FPS for PAL is full speed. Meaning if you get 30 FPS on a NTSC game, everything will work at half actual speed (sound, video etc). Demanding games are the Gran Turismo series, Metal Gear Solid series, Shadow of the Colossus and various others
Yeah it's one of the advantages of using an emulator, you can specify in which resolution the game's textures will be rendered at. Which means you are just using the original game and the rest is done by PCSX2 ;)
I like the way you danced around not knowing what I was talking about earlier, but ok ;) We are not concerned about the users. You are responsible for pirating the games or not. We care about keeping the project running and that means being on the safe side. Thus we try to be as legal as possible and not promote piracy. You are free to pirate all you want, but we will not help you with it. If that is so hard for you to understand, I don't think I'll care responding further...
When I play the game, all of the buttons don't work so I can't even start a new game! However when I play Shadow of the Collosus everything works fine. (Using a PS3 controller w/ motioninjoy). Please answer!!!
The most astounding thing about this game to me is that its a PS2 game, and yet it STILL holds up
You don't need any tutorial, all settings are written in this video's description. Those not mentioned are at default. Just use the same settings and you'll be fine (ofcourse game speed vastly depends on your PC, even if you copy my exact settings)
@TheFred128 This is as real as it gets, the textures are rendered from their actual source to whichever resolution we choose. We don't grab the textures on native resolution and stretch them, we actually render them at our chosen res.
best game I've ever played to this day
Alex Pryce is this the HD one
Me to
@Pestinha92 Just assign something to the left analog stick when configuring your pad plugin.
@eccothedolphindotf With the built in video recorder of GSdx. You can use it by pressing F12 to start recording and F12 again twice to stop
@OmegaMetroid93 Indeed as said in the comments, some post processing effects have been removed

Depends on your controller, maybe you need to adjust the axis sensitivity (especially for xbox360 controllers)
Who knows, almost all post processing effects in games are not yet emulated properly
@okami49 Using an ISO image made from the PS2 disc. Not a keyboard, a wired xbox360 controller.
espera que, entonces es normal que no me aparezca el pergamino al dibujar? xD
@andrmar94 I can't tell without knowing all your settings or what kind of PC you have...
Yes, you can see the resolution used in the description. 0.9.9 has about 700 code revisions after 0.9.8 :P
@olidude7 Because the GPU isn't doing any emulation.
It just renders what the graphics plugin tells it to.
It's the console's CPU that's being emulated.
I didn't say better textures, I said you can set the resolution the textures will be rendered at. That can be changed in the GSdx configuration
I have this really weird glitch and I'm wondering if you could help me... at the beginning of the game, after swimming through the River of the Heavens, Ammy has this weird light blue rectangular box under her. I've tried everything to fix it... and it does not disappear in further scenes. Any ideas?
I have a question:
With what Program did you record it ?
Not sure if dolphin emulates the paper effects properly, it's the only thing not working with PCSX2 on hardware mode. Other than that, it looks amazing upscaled on PCSX2
Nice gameplay. Are you using the okami ps2 disc? and also are you using the keyboard for the controls?
@allisonandbailee Yes, this is a PS2 emulator. The download links for the program are in the video description. You can buy the game at any store that sells ps2 games.
@olidude7 Emulation isn't very GPU intensive.
It's mostly dependent on your CPU.
Press F9 to see which effects have been removed from hardware mode. If you're the same guy from the forum, keep asking there, something is definitively wrong since with that system you should be getting about 150 FPS :P
really love your emulator I've been playing it for months :D and it works perfectly fine
You should probably post in our support forum, youtube comments isn't the best place to debug something...also always include your plugins used and all your settings to get better help

@PCSX2team: Oh. I didn't read it enough.
Is there any way to get them back? Or can't the emulator handle them yet?
Hey how could you snatch Nami's robe in Old Kamiki village, I can't walk slowly to do that
Wait a second, it doesn't show the Paper filter , and the canvas effect doesn't appear when you use the brush, what the hell?
Tried moving up and down in the load screen? :P
That's Dante's pet
Wtf
Srsly, I can't get the game to work!
It runs at like 5-20 fps and everything goes in slowmotion :(
Also, when I'm trying to aply the 'GSDx (SSE4/SSE3)' it says that the selected GS failed to load :( So I can only play with the 'SSE2' one.

What kind of processor? A 2.5 Celeron will run like crap, a 2.5 i5 will run it fine. Also what graphics card.
@Traumashake The BIOS has nothing to do with games and is not in games. You have to extract it from your Playstation 2 console.
wait, better textures? Where's the option for that in PCSX2?
@TheFred128 Right, then try running PCSX2 with filtering disabled and AA disabled. So then according to you, it would not help getting nice graphics if you set internal res to let's say 2400x2400...or maybe you don't know what you're talking about.
HA! owned! nice. do you guys still use upscaling in this version to increase the in game resolution? also what makes 0.9.9 better than 9.8?
when i do brush techniques i can't draw circles ... and i need your help...
Please can someone help me?
freakypelt it will release on PC on december this year.. :)
Have you made a comparison between this and the Wii version running in Dolphin? I'd be interested to see or hear a comparison.
What do you consider to be full speed? I can live with 24-30 FPS. And which games as an example be considered demanding?
its weird whenever i use the celestial brush too much black parts cover the screen
Is it possible to not remove the post processing effects?
Will I be able to play it in HD if I buy the PS2 disk and use that to play it on the emulator or do I have to download a special ROM? In other words, are the HD graphics a product of the emulator or is it something else? Thanks
I just started playing this on wiiU... Can't hardly see what's going on with the old graphics.. This is so nice
Did you have any idea what kind of fury you would summon in the comments section when you wrote that?
@andrmar94 No because the requirements change vastly from game to game. You can check out the "Will PCSX2 run fast on my computer" thread in our General Discussion for Windows forum at forums.pcsx2.net for a rough idea.

have they gotton rid of the paper effect when you use your brush?!
This looks sooo amazing! I really really hope they release Okami on PS3!
I could never get the still images on the save screen or in the cutscenes to show up. :V
Did anyone else get this?
@PCSX2team so there is no "official" system requirement that i can see?
pcsx2 Doesn't support Champions return to arms? cuz when i try to play it the screen is half black
Hey I have your emulator and Okami and i was wondering how i can set up the emulator to run the game in HD and look like this

Did you use joystick, or keyboard?
Would you like it to be a framedrop? :P Your graphics card can apparently handle the higher resolutions just fine
How did you download Okami? :( i really want to download this game but i don't know how. Can you tell me how did you download it? Please?

It's in the description
A 1080p remastering of OKami is coming to PS3. IT even has all the effects from the PS2 version
please i have tried to play it every thing works but there is the map stuck on my screen no matter what i do
OH Btw, since you're in the PCSX2 team, how to remove that god awful ghosting in GoW 2?
It has 3 saves, one at the beginning, one for new game + and one at the end before you get in the arc of yamato
@AlfredX1990 You can't really compare the GC/Wii with the PS2. hey i need help! i have bought the Disc and im gonna turn it into a ISO file but i dont know how to do it. plz help me : ))
God, this looks good. I'm gonna have to upgrade and play all my PS2 favorites again! :)
why sometimes my game becomes slows?(like, when i turn left,it doesnt slow, but when i turn right it become slow)
and my pc its not bad
Try using skipdraw to 1,2 or 3. Also put CRC Hacks to full ( post process will not work).
is this version superior to the wii one played on dolphin?
This game is so beautiful!
But is it just me or do some effects not work quite right?
It's a shame that this canvas-like effect doesn't work while using hardware rendering :/
This game is really really good
@OSWReview No idea :P You're welcome
Thank you
Yeah it probably is ;) What games? You should be getting full speed in almost everything with that build

actually r u using ps2 dualshock controller?
It works properly in software mode, but then you lose all scaling/higher resolution (and needs much more processing power)

How do you get it to run so smooth? When I run it Cutscenes with 3d rendered images and Brush mode lag to high hell
What's your pc specs? Might be your pc can't handle it, or maybe the emulator needs to be configured.
