Also I know Resident Evil 4 came out on the GameCube initially but its ps2 port is iconic...not even on the list.

@@timmytimmymit5607 Ni No Kuni 2 was their last in-house game they co developed with other studio to make snack world for the switch back in 2020, but has since then down sized substantially to finalize any remaining work.
I'm sure they'll officially be shut down in 2023

I remember wanting a ps2 so badly, but we just didn't have that kind of money. And then my grandfather randomly surprised me with one that came with Sly 2 and Ratchet and Clank. One of the best memories I've had. And SOTC in the top 3 is perfect. I'm still waiting for SOTC2.
I used to have a slim PS2 as a child,i have the best memmories with it,it's as fun as playing the Arcade games in a mall,my cousin had it too, i remember how exciting it was to discover the shooting games and stuff...Lara Croft 2 dual pistols and the sounds...So much beefy

It's only PS2 exclusive games. Nothing ported for dreamcast, xbox and gamecube but yea Jak and daxter should have been there.
PS2 had so many iconic titles and still has the best intro sound!
GameCube's was also really good

I was so surprised to see War of the Monsters on this list. I felt like I was the only kid playing this in my school back in the day. Such a gem!
I think you should replace Snake Eater with Subsistence. It's the rerelease that allows you to shoot over-the-shoulder. That wasn't in the original.
It also has the first 2 8bit Metal Gear games plus you can watch cutscenes when you unlock them in theater mode.

Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts II hold a special place in my heart because of just how much fun I had playing them. PS2 had the best games.

This was definitely another great list of some of THE BEST PS2 games we grew up with playing/experiencing, but I can't help but see that a PS2 game as iconic Devil May Cry 3 was left out of this list.
Im so sad it didnt make the list but Im even more sad I had to scroll this far to see if anyone else noticed 😭

Guitar Hero 2 saved my sanity during the last semester of my senior year of art school when I was working almost non-stop on my illustration thesis. It was a great way to take a short break, change what my eyes were looking at and the mode my brain was in, and play just two or three songs before getting back to work. And it's STILL fun.

Yeah, I liked and played the original Ratchet and Clank trilogy and Deadlocked so much as a kid. It was probably a pinnacle of my childhood gaming. I never got the chance to play any of the Jak & Daxter games or the Sly Copper games, but I wish that I had because those two game series were as good as the Ratchet and Clank series, all three were synonymous and the pinnacle of the Playstation 2 and, I guess, Playstation in general. The reason why I know this is because I have been around video games for most of my life and I believe that's a good thing.

It's a PCSX2 Summer up in here!!! I missed so many games back then being obsessed with Socom, EverQuest Online Adventures, Resident Evil Outbreak and just playing online for the consoles latter half. Playing catchup.
Honestly, what's crazy is that there are so many good PS2 games that a list of 20 of the best is just not enough to really scratch the surface.

Metal Gear Solid 2, GTA III and Vice City, Resident Evil 4, ICO, Devil May Cry 1 and 3, Burnout 3, Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest 8, Jax and Dexter and plenty of other great games. Hands down the best console of all time.

Kya & The Dark Lineage incredible music, storyline, art, characters. Truly a PS2 classic. Downside it ended on a Cliffhanger.
Sly Copper I remember staying up all night trying to find every last page of The Thevious Racconous.
I'm so happy that Sly 2 Band of Thieves is on this list.

@@MisterMolby I agree, my only criticisms of the game is that the golf mini game was a bit harsh on certain maps, and the last chapter was unconnected to the story and thus unnecessary and didn't even expand on Max and Monica's possible relationship.
I wish I had a PS2 growing up, because a lot of cool games came out when it was around

Best PS2 games for me were The Suffering games. I pray they get a ground up remake, because they were just that damn good. With updated visuals and controls, they could be the best games ever.

Siren 1 and 2 and Fatal Frame 2 are often overlooked PS2 horror games that are amazing.
Also Project Zero 3, Haunting Ground, Clock Tower 3, Cold Fear
The three Xenosaga games were very memorable to me too, although half the time we were watching the games instead of playing since there were so much cutscenes and focus on storytelling. All Xenosaga games were very polished and a good follow-up for those of us back then who played and finished Xenogears on the original Playstation. I love the Square Enix games too, such as Final Fantasy X and X-2, Kingdom Hearts II, and these games define that 2000's era for me.
The first Xenosaga was good but I really did not like the 2nd one at all. I cant even remember why lol. But the 1st game was a cool follow up to Xenogears (my fav rpg of all time)
Dark Cloud 2 would be such an amazing game to get a remake/remaster
I swear Psi Ops is sooooo criminally underrated it’s a shame. That game is practically flawless with so much replay value! Definitely wish this game got more love.

Crash Tag Team Racing is my all time favorite PS2 game.
Dark Cloud 1 & 2 were 2 of the Greatest Dungeon Crawlers for PS2.
Ape Escape 3 will forever be my favorite memory from the PS2

One of my favourite games of all time, the gameplay combined with that killer soundtrack makes the game so fun (i have the soundtrack on CD too, imported from Japan, my favourite game soundtrack of all time followed VERY closely by Nier Automata)
Definitely. I think the better game on PS2 was We Love Katamari because it had a lot more music, cousins, etc. but kept all the original tracks.

Jak 2, Max Payne, onimusha 2, splinter cell chaos theory, midnight club 2 , need for speed underground 1 or 2, prince of Persia warrior within, medal of honor frontline, Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets, grand theft auto vice city, imagine if any of these games were available on ps2

Katamari Damacy made my college roommate and I accidentally stay up ALL NIGHT the day that we bought it. We had the blinds closed in our apartment so we couldn't see outside, and we didn't realize what time it was until my alarm clock started going off in my room because I hadn't turned it off from the morning class it had been set for the previous day. Once we both recognized the alarm for what it was we just looked at each other and simultaneously said, "Oh my _GOD."_
Thank God it was a Saturday so we didn't have to slog to class.😂

Okami is one of the best games and sadly completely overlooked. I think I never have played a Zeldaesque title that even beats out most of those games. Filled with personality and content.
Anyone ever play the Shadow Hearts JRPGs? Those are criminally underrated and the second game, Covenant, deserves some recognition. Honestly one of the greatest JRPGs out there

I love the PS2 console, one of the best consoles of all time, I just recently got one from my cousin so I can play PS2 games that I enjoy and love, unfortunately, none of my favorites have appeared on this list, not even crash bandicoot games which that's disappointing; however, I could try out some games on this list that I haven't played before, but these three are the most recognizable for me to try out, hopefully I will play them in the future.
Dark cloud 2 is one of my favorite games of all times.. the gameplay was amazing and it had so much extra content... man I love that game.. why was there never a part 3. I'm totally about to download the rom for this game.

FFX is one of my top favorite Ps2 games and I am glad that it is really high on this list. I actually own almost all versions of FFX minus the xbox version.
If it wasn’t for the PlayStation 2 I wouldn’t have been the kind of gamer I am today.

How is Devil May Cry 3, Jak 3, Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 3, Onimusha 3 & Rogue Galaxy not on this list? Criminal. I'd also make a special mention for Capcom vs SNK 2. One of the best fighting games of all time. I also loved Crash Tag-Team Racing

I still own my OG copy of Dark Cloud 2. One of my favorite games of all time and I only bought it back in 2003 because I thought the ad "looked cool" lol.
I once played Guitar Hero 2 at a gaming center to try my hand at Free Bird. Even though I was playing on easy, the solo was anything but and I almost failed because of that. I only got about 10% of the solo while the rest was pretty well off.

God of War has to be the BEST SERIES in PlayStation history. Just working my way through Ragnorok now. Half way through the main story and doing all the side quests too

No Mortal Kombat, Sar Wars, Blood Omen, Lego, Onimusha, or Resident Evil titles? I am glad Dark Cloud getting some recognition though. Another cool game that many don't give recognition to is Summoner 2.
Tekken 5 this one was especially one of my favorites because it was the last Tekken Game on The PS2.
I played that one too. It was one of the best fighting games. Tekken 5 was also celebrating the 10th anniversary at that time they had arcade ports of the first 3 tekken titles. That was my favorite bonus.

Now this takes me back. I used to play with my PS2 all the time growing up as a kid. Until I made the mistake of getting the xbox 360, I missed out in a lot of great games in the PS3.
xbox 360 is great in exclusifs too, lost odyssey, fable 1,2,3,gears of war 1,2,3; halo franchise,they also have a lot of remasters from ps2 era that are on this list like gta san adreas, mgs3,silent hill 2 and others not in this list like mgs 2, silent hill 3, dmc 1,2,3, hitman collection, beyond good and evil,etc, the ps3 has great exclusifs too like god of war 3,uncharted 1,2,3, the last of u, and more remasters like prince of persia trilogie and shadow of the collossus, etc, the two of them are both great consoles in my opinion not like the xbox one that requires wifi to play, that is the worst decision i have seen in consoles

Im so happy sly 2 was reconized. Im surprised destroy all humans isnt here. Maybe not everyone plays it but the voice acting is amazing. The guy who does Pox's voice is the same voice of Moxie from helluva boss!

I was so happy to see Dark Cloud 2 on this list!! I have to say though it's criminal to not put Jak II or a Jak game in general on here xD My number 1 is Jak II followed by Dark Cloud 2 in 2nd, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando for 3rd, and a tie between Crash Bandicoot and Spyro: A Hero's Tail for 4th!!
The fact that Shadow of Memories is not in this list is criminal. Simply one of the best time travel games ever made and better than 90% of this list.
