The portrait by Gareth literally took my breath away at the moment of its revelation. Congratulations for a portrait that jolts the inner being of the viewer!
I love Graham Norton and his quick wit and animated personality. Gareth went beyond what we see on tv. Anyone who knows someone that is so animated and quick witted knows that after the "Bursts" of energy these wonderful people go down and have a tender, contemplative side,. This is what Gareth painted. Gifted Genius painting a Gifted Genius. Amazing!
The final commission is simply gorgeous - introspective and moving. Gareth's personal collection shown earlier in the episode was also wonderfully sensitive and understated. What is curious to me is that his drawings throughout the competition were very different tonally and stylistically. This portrait of Graham was utterly unexpected based on what we saw of his charcoal drawings. During the season, I had the impression the judges chose to advance Gareth in part due to his choice of medium (in addition to his skill, of course). I wish they had been at the unveiling to share their thoughts.
It seemed very odd they were absent. I wonder if their egos were floating on the idea that they were introducing (the first?) graphite artist to that gallery.
Tears sprang into my eyes when the cloth was dropped. I could not believe how beautiful it was. He had painted a masterpiece. I knew that he was a great painter and had a wonderful subject. I am grateful just to see this documentary.
I can't stop looking at the painting... You can see the contemplative Graham. But you can still really see his cheerful personality quite blatantly even in those beautiful muted colors... Genius Gareth!
This portrait blew me away. I am so glad he decided to do it in paint. His drawings are no less impressive. But, for me, Graham needed to be painted. He is a larger than life personality and this artist understood that and did justice to the man painting him as himself and not the "entertainer" everyone knows and loves. Bravo.
Tremendous job of capturing Graham’s likeness and soul … and to discover that these two very talented men are actually related, as well! This has been a heartwarming documentary.
I love how much footage they added of the sittings they had together and listening to them talk because they had such a nice connection and it was beautiful watching him work
A beautiful portrait and two such authentic, likeable people - AND they're related. I have so enjoyed watching this show. I can't wait to visit Ireland.
My favorite episode. Rich background, tender moments, surprises along the way (third cousins for crying out loud!), and a magnificent outcome. I gasped!
Absolutely loved the portrait and the whole episode with his journey towards the actual composition and painting was hugely satisfying and entertaining. Thank you so much for posting it.
Incredible artist Gareth captured Graham so beautifully. There’s a slight smile in his eyes though his overall expression is on the serious side. Inspiring and worth of its new home. Bravo!
Wow! How amazing that Gareth's Dad And Graham's Mom were 2nd cousins which makes Gareth and Graham 3rd cousins!!! The portrait is beautiful! You are indeed a Very Talented Man Gareth!!!
An absolutely gorgeous painting of Graham Norton. And such a lovely 44 minutes getting to know a different side of Graham than what we see on the telly. what an amazing artist!
The final painting shows the real Graham at rest in his homeland. And then on top of that, Graham and the painter are related; as verified by his lovely mother. What a wonderful coincidence.
This is my favorite episode and season by far. Gareth is amazing, likable and humble and I love Graham Norton. It was so enjoyable watching them together. Gorgeous painting. 💐 👏
One of your BEST portrait commissions!! Gareth's incredible talent captured the 'soul' of this man. The only problem I saw was that light wicker chair....made him looked somewhat squashed.?!
The guy did an absolutely stellar job. All of his choices are right on. It depicts the Graham Norton who we imagine on those 10-month sabbaticals. No cameras, no finely tailored suits, just the Irish gentleman who's paid his dues and gives himself time to rejuvenate. What's not to love about this painting.
Oh my !!! I am really blown away with Graham Norton’s portrait !!! It’s such a beautiful portrait!!! Fantastic work of art. Gareth Reid’s creation really belongs with works of the masters.
Extraordinary! What an amazing job... Gareth really captured him... in a totally different style than he won the competition .... I was nervous before the unveiling when i realized he didn't do it in charcoal..But no need to fear . Gareth did himself and Grahm and Ireland proud!
I often have issues on who is chosen to win based on how it "looks". This was a great episode, a family reunion and oil painting after all the charcoal.
My gosh! the painting is way better than I was expecting lol... and even if I love everything he has done up to before the commission. This man has a the capability to capture + transmit the beauty of a moment in his paintings.
The absolute best ending possible for this series…a breathtaking, memorable capture of Graham Norton’s persona and soul. Thank you ALL DOCUMENTARY for your diligent postings which so helped us who seek inspiration during Covid Times. All we can hope for now is further, future postings of this series in other seasons? We in California are starved for quality shows which illuminate and delight!
A very lovely and powerful portrait! I'm so pleased! I'm kind of glad the judges weren't there to say any number of silly things about it. Graham's mother's seal of approval was worth more than all the nitter natter the judges would have said. I think this is the most successful commission I've seen from portrait and landscape combined. So often they fall flat and are disappointing, but this one is a triumph!
This was really encouraging for me! As someone learning to draw and paint on my own, I'm having difficulty letting go and just being loose with things as I start out and go along, but seeing him move that composition around on a canvas for so important a painting *really* convinced me as nothing else had up to this point that I need to let go so I can find my style. It would have been pretty keen to have seen a drawing go into the gallery, but the painting is just great! The likeness is incredible.
What I love about this documentary is........ The " we could be related" aspect. My mother's family are all from Ireland, Cavan to be precise. It's amazing that you two dynamic men are so closely genetically related! Delightful journey!
Honestly, when they first unveiled the final painting, I swear that I thought it was a photograph. Lovely painting of a lovely person. For some reason, I don’t think this will be the end of their brief time walking the road of life together. No, I think there might a lunch or two in the future, or at least a few teas.
Fantastic! But how come none of the judges were present for the reveal? I would have liked to have known their response. After all, they were the ones who chose him.... As for the portrait itself, it's outstanding. If there's anything about it I'm not too crazy for it's the chair he's sitting in. But everything else is executed in the most exquisite way. Love it!
From the other side of the pond (my mother was part Irish--born in London in 1939) I have to say I really enjoyed watching this. It makes me want to visit Ireland!
I'm floored that he went the whole way winning and winning using only graphite. Then switching to oil paint and killing it. Master artist.
I though they said he used charcoal at one point, but even so!
Exactly what I came here to say. He took a real risk working in graphite/charcoal. When I saw his other oil paintings in his home I was blown away.
also he won because they’re related 😂😂
@no if he threw up a stick person I would believe that. But his art is breathtaking. I think the right person won.
To put in a museum like that he knew better. He wants his work to survive for decades and he oil does that MUCH better
Wow! The final portrait is breathtaking. He certainly deserved to win.
I agree.
Wow is right! VERY WORTHY!
I agree...bravo!!!!
Yes I don’t think I can add to your comment , it captured Graham Norton not the man we know to be Graham Norton on TV . Outstanding.
The portrait by Gareth literally took my breath away at the moment of its revelation. Congratulations for a portrait that jolts the inner being of the viewer!
Me too (2)

Yes, so odd for them not to be there!

This is a particularly beautiful episode.

Hockney did the ink and pencil ages ago
Not only is this man talented but a humble, likeable, man as well. His portrait of Graham moves me.
What a SPLENDID painting! And such a surprise connection! Well done!
I think this is the best portrait so far! He looks real in the painting! Excellent work! And I really like the artist and Graham at the end!
I absolutely love the final portrait. It truly deserves its place in the gallery.
This is crazy. It's like it was meant to be, synchronicity.
I've been struck, from the beginning, about how uncanny their resemblances are!
This portrait blew me away. I am so glad he decided to do it in paint. His drawings are no less impressive. But, for me, Graham needed to be painted. Beautiful cousins' graceful meeting. What an honor to watch.
Such a delightful result. I adore Graham. This is an episode I don't mind repeating.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Graham’s portrait come to fruition. Not only was his likeness captured, but also his soul. Well done! ❤️
Tremendous job of capturing Graham’s likeness and soul … and to discover that these two very talented men are actually related, as well! This has been a heartwarming documentary.

Please upload all episodes in this series
OMGoodness. This portrait is absolutely, positively STUNNING! This may be my favorite PORTRAIT of all of them painted over the years!
As an artist I was just speechless for 5minutes after seeing that portrait fantastic work by Mr.Graham
.
The three judges were absent... Would like to have heard their feedback.
He really caught the inner essence of Norton Graham with unvarnished and natural authenticity.
Wow. You can still see the scratchiness of his unique style when he changed mediums. Truly Genius painting.
I think this is my favourite episode of all for many reasons. The portrait is brilliant. Thank you for posting this!!
Absolutely breathtaking.! You captured a gram Norton that his audience doesn't see.Thank you so much
the joy this series brought to me about being an artist means so much thankyou
I adore Graham and this expression of him is so delightful and precious.
Simply WOW. One of the few episodes where the artist has done something different for the finale that has eclipsed their previous examples.
Graham Norton is so sweet and funny. ❤
An absolutely gorgeous painting of Graham Norton. And such a lovely 44 minutes getting to know a different side of Graham than what we see on the telly. what an amazing artist!
Look at the two of them standing together around the 35:00 mark, and it's not surprising to find they are related. What an amazing artist.
The final painting shows the real Graham at rest in his homeland. And then on top of that, Graham and the painter are related; as verified by his lovely mother. What a wonderful coincidence.
Graham and the artist look and sound very very alike. No wonder they ended up as sitter and portrait artist of the sitter!!
I thought that before they announced their connection. I wasn’t surprised.
Of all the finales I have viewed I do believe this is the most beautiful portrait ever done on this program. Well done. Well done indeed.
Gareth, congratulations, you are a very worthy winner. What a wonderful talent to create something of such beauty.........
This is my favorite episode and season by far. Gareth is amazing, likable and humble and I love Graham Norton. It was so enjoyable watching them together. Gorgeous painting. 💐 👏
This portrait brought me to tears, that is how wonderful it is.

This is a gorgeous documentary, so blessed to see such talent in Portrait art.
I just smile every time I see Graham Norton in anything he’s just so Joyful you can’t help but laugh with him

He captured mischievousness in his face. Wonderful
Love this series!!
On my first visit to Ireland this month, I was thrilled to meet this beautiful portrait in person!
The fact that events leading up to being relatives, oh! Made this episode the grandest! The portrait Perfect!
WOW! Beautiful portrait! I actually gasped when it was unveiled. One of the best portraits I’ve seen.
Some people are so talented. It makes me see that the judges do know what they are taking about.
Oh my !!! I am really blown away with Graham Norton’s portrait !!! It’s such a beautiful portrait!!! Fantastic work of art.
Gareth Reid’s creation really belongs with works of the masters.
How amazing that they found out they're related! They both seem like really nice, down to earth guys. Gareth is an amazingly talented artist!
Extraordinary! What an amazing job... Gareth really captured him... in a totally different style than he won the competition .... I was nervous before the unveiling when i realized he didn't do it in charcoal..But no need to fear . Gareth did himself and Grahm and Ireland proud!
My heart jumped when they reviled the painting. Plus I want to visit that part of Ireland.
I often have issues on who is chosen to win based on how it "looks".

I really hope they continue with uploading this program next week with season 4!

Wow, I am speechless, a master of art! A real winner!!!
I know intellectually that's a painting. But, it looks so much like a photograph, it's brilliant! What a stunning work of art!
“Maybe you should have won.” A great comment, and correct.
This moment in life was all brought together with great planning and wonderful tenderness. The Powers that be.
Amazing artist, love Graham Norton, and the soft, gentle, lyrical voices and Irish accent are so calming throughout....incredible final portrait! Wow!
great end to an exciting series. if you haven't seen it all, please do. no spoilers from me

Absolutely lovely! The subtlety of color perfectly suits the relaxed mood.....couldn't be any better done. Honestly, brought me to tears!

I just absolutely love this series. I can’t explain the joy it brings- even though I am many years out - due to my access to the episodes.
Your show is amazing! I never get tired of watching, great artists! Great people!
Thank you!
Absolutely loved this episode! I always loved his pencil drawings so much that this one in oils was such a surprise! Just beautiful!
I wish we artists had opportunities like this in the US. If you are in music here, you have lots of opportunities. Visual arts, not so much
SKY ARTS SHOULD DO A US. VERSION!!!
Music opportunities where? Maybe for singing but that’s about it.
I was waiting on this final episode. Wow... it was amazingly stunning. What a gorgeous final portrait.
What I love about this documentary is........
The " we could be related" aspect.
My mother's family are all from Ireland, Cavan to be precise.
It's amazing that you two dynamic men are so closely genetically related!
Delightful journey!
The best! Thank you from southern California, USA.

Congratulations for Gareth! His talent is great and certainly he deserves his place!
It' s the best of the best programm I've seen before!
Drawing is the true test of art…no surprise this painting is extraordinary
Brought me to tears.....
I feel as if I have been on holiday at Bantry Bay.
Two very handsome young men. I had a sense they were related in some way. Absolutely gorgeous painting!
Honestly, when they first unveiled the final painting, I swear that I thought it was a photograph. Lovely painting of a lovely person. For some reason,
I don’t think this will be the end of their brief time walking the road of life together. No, I think there might a lunch or two in the future, or at least a few teas.

I think Gareth is my favorite winner of all the PAOTY I've seen. I just love his work.
One of my top favorite episodes!
This is one particular episode which touched me the most
Best artist so far from dozens of shows
Wonderful piece. I'm in Catalunya and would praise it for his excellent work
From the other side of the pond (my mother was part Irish--born in London in 1939) I have to say I really enjoyed watching this. It makes me want to visit Ireland!
