Having a forest as a background for a sitting and the sitter in a sofa was kind of a weird choice. Still, I love this program so much and discovering so so sooo many artis and styles in every episode is so refreshing.
Wow! Very happy surprise to see Hester Berry! She is one of my absolute favourite landscape painters. I took some of her painting classes online over the pandemic, really enjoyable
All 3 of the finalists had excellent work. Yes, it would be difficult to work in wax to produce such a fine painting. The layers required for a pointalist in just a few hours...whew! And Jack's painting is not cartoony in the slightest. He uses both technique and color in a sophisticated way. Bravo to all 3!
Listening to the judges critiquing, I got the feeling they were saying things because they think other art critics will critique their critiques. Lol. Oh, I think it's actually something very complicated masquerading as something simple. The paintings of the athlete were simply awful across the board.
@@wetdroidedition2549 It's a sad state of mind to think a black person is a "politically correct" artist just because the sitter liked his portrait best.
Nice to have an episode without the likeness discussion in the shortlisted artists. I thought all were great, but I can imagine having someone with an exotic technique swayed things in his favor. I loved the colors on the face in jacks version, and the palette knife techniques in Hesters work was lovely as well.
24:36 I try to rush Frank Skinner hahahah and I expose how much it meant to me, which makes the end funnier... also not winning turned out to be one of the best things for me.
I thought the black guy made an amazing subject. I got used to the athletes form and look quickly. They really failed her. She would have resulted in an amazing and colorful painting
I completely agree. I think the artist didn't take the time to get to know the subject. They just slapped on some muscles and ignored her personality. :c
@@uginiopaka3376 Either that or it was legit a bad selection of drawers, as two of them didn't even try to paint her whole figure but still failed to capture her likeness.
Drawing a muscular person requires a different set of skills than most portrait artists have. Body anatomy need a lot of knowledge to make it well. She woudl be indeed a FASTANTIC model, but for someone that was experienced in body and anatomy.
I like the show, for the most part... my biggest distraction is Frank Skinner. I wish he'd stop trying to be funny. Also, I wish he'd stop touching people.
Photos were used for almost all of the self portraits, though there were no time limits, no distractions, and they didn't have to stay at a distance to paint the sitter.

The entire show is just wonderful and inspiring.

A lot of fun to watch, thank you for posting it!

I can't remember the names, but did he paint Greg Davies? If so, the first version of his face looked a lot better.

Completely agree with all you've said.
Yes. I was disappointed with all her portraits
This is my favorite series right now. Thank you for uploading
This is becoming the best part of my sundays ❤️
Thank so much for uploading these past episodes 👌
Glad I found this on RUclips to watch… Binge watch actually!
Finally I agree with the judges. The winning portrait was awesome!
Young Mum got the likeness right away with just a few strokes...
Amazing!
These are wonderful! Thank you so much!
ill be honest all of those who did the female athlete did a bad bad job
I agree
athletic females are tricky subjects, but i agree.
So bad that sport lady choose the politically correct artist
@@wetdroidedition2549 hahah i hope thats what she was aiming for cause it was probably the worst drawing i ever saw in a show hahahah

Love watching this show.👏👏👏
I feel so bad for the female athlete, just looking at her I felt so inspired, ther could have painted her like a Greek goddess, very poweful set:(
She was the hardest model to paint too though.

Thank you thank you!,!! Please more!!😄
Simply amazing!!!

Love this show!
Awesome! ☺️❤️❤️❤️
All were amazing artists
"you could grate cheese on that!!" this host is hilarious
Greg Davies - "Are you saying I've got to support my own head? 'Cause I was led to believe I wouldn't have to."

... I wanted to respond to your comment but Ugini Opaka said exacly what I wanted to say lol so I'll just say "Indeed" to both comments hahaha

I think it is interesting that when the comments are really negative they don't show you which painting they are talking about.
Ty😊
All great artists this time around again! Love watching this show.
I keep watching these. They make me angry. Then I keep watching these.
Bravo
I like the show, for the most part... my biggest distraction is Frank Skinner. I wish he'd stop trying to be funny. Also, I wish he'd stop touching people.
I agree. He's treading the line between funny, creepy and tacky.
guys, where can i get all the seasons of poaty to watch?i kinda fall in love with these....
Only first 2 of 10 on Amazon prime 10 is on YT
Search "Portait Artist of the Year " in the RUclips search bar and a couple of seasons will come up-- they're on different channels
Nick from last year looks like jessi from breaking bad.. nice show
Someone should've painted the woman as a cel-shaded anime superhero!
If only we could get Rick Wakeman to be a sitter. He would fit perfectly for this show.
I've got to say, because I never noticed this before: Greg must be great to paint
37:26 I'm so dead she was salty 🤣
Yes that was me hahahahah get's me every time I see this sooo funny hahahh
I've even had people make memes made of this hahahah
5:53 I thought they were being funny and wished for the man to say "No. I've always had to stand."
Hahahahaha My expression and comment at the end is legendary! so funny every time I see this.
first artist's portrait is extra one being his newly process of art i.e wax with Oil color .congrats.
would Bill be the 1st
American artist to
make it in the finals?
No there was a couple of others. Wish I could remember season . They were both in same season finals
@@cherylmk1 THANK YOU
I don't understand how you'd draw the under layer with charcoal without it totally muddying the paint colors..
look how they massacred my girl...! The athlete ones were all awful... :D
Some of the Greg's portraits remind me of David Gilmour somehow. 🙃
All artists were so talented
The creepy comments to the woman athlete were gross.
What, the american has the biggest teeth, on a british show?😂
I don't get how that guy won when the shirt wasn't even done
the athletic woman's paintings...my 10 year old nephew could do better in 1 hour.
Yeah she had the worst of luck, artist wise.
not happy to see the outcome.....mostly the women ,,,,
The hosts were distructing them!
We need a Gordon Ramsey of critics added. You are all so knowledgeable but oh so nice. Pleasant but somewhat stuffy. Putting me to slumberland.
I disagree. The show is not about critics, it's about the artists.
Absolutely can’t stand Gordon Ramsey.
#2 of the female athlete was awful. Straight up awful. Amateurish at best.
Too Many Ad Breaks.
It ruins the flow.
Is this uploaded by Sky TV? Are they that in need of money that they need to chuck in an ad every 5 minutes?
Only thing I don't like about this show is the use of token black artists guys who for most part of the show would be practically ignored.
You're wrong. Edward Ofosu is no token and Samira Addo and Curtis Holder were deservedly winners.
This was a bad batch of painters
all portraits were terrible to be honest
People from britain don't know to paint. Take that survey in Italy and Holand.
I don't like the photo and grid thing...seems like cheating.
Photos were used for almost all of the self portraits, though there were no time limits, no distractions, and they didn't have to stay at a distance to paint the sitter.
To be honest no painting was attractive.
Is 'attractiveness' a pre-requisite?
ha, her face at 37:25
