    I would have loved to see Jamie move on. Not only was his stronger but it was unconventional and unique which is what I think we need to see more of!

      Agreed. I hope he applied again the following year. Shame this competition doesn’t have the wild card option like landscape does. I can see him winning that and ending up in the finals. Very exciting artist.

      I think it had too many beautiful elements for their comfort and both his pieces were ‘missing’ chunks of the subject…I’m guessing it was too problematic for them to put through…The winner’s compositions were fantastic and expressive in ways they found at least equally as compelling

    They really don't want to take risks unlike their last season's winner Christian Hook. It's a shame, Jamie's portrait is so much better than the one they picked.

      Agreed. I think Jamie didn't win because only one judge really liked his submission portrait. I loved Jamie's portrait of Ben Okri -- it was the only one that really seemed to catch an element of Mr. Okri's personality.

    • @michaeltoddharris3424
      @michaeltoddharris3424 2 года назад

    I thought that this was one of the more difficult choices to make at the end because ALL 3 were AMAZING. I loved the face on the skip door, loved the winner's portrait, but also the one with bits of red showing through. For me, this was the MOST DIFFICULT for the judges (dunno if they felt the same way?). I loved all three. (Wish more than one could go through. There are times when I think NONE should go through!).

    Oh come on, Jamie could obviously take on a £10,000 commission of Graham tomorrow and do a stunning job of it. He was robbed. He was the only one out of all of them that had the exact likeness. The winner's looked vaguely like Trevor and was the best out of the 3 of Trevor's, but that isn't really saying much. Their reasoning is extremely questionable. This is why I think they should get rid of Kate and get another judge to replace her because her reasoning is always so wrong.
