I'm 55 years old and just became vegan last year. My health issues have pretty much gone away (pain, inflammation, hypertension), my skin cleared up, and I have a lot more energy. I've had a lot of trouble with depression and anxiety, and the vegan lifestyle has lifted that as well. I have more confidence and focus.

I also had hypothyroidism for a year, started eating healthy and 1 year later it normalized out so no longer need medication.

I cured my depression (without anti - depressants) and lost 60 pounds when I went vegan! Best decision I've ever made in my life. My skin is so clear that it glows now and people always ask me what foundation I'm wearing. I don't even wear foundation only lipstick! Also, my blood pressure went down tremendously and I no longer get tired because I have so much energy!! I also see a big change in when I workout too. I feel amazing when I workout and run, I can actually complete a whole workout now and run for a longer duration without breathing like I'm dying! 😂 Funny but It's true! I was so overweight and had zero energy. I seriously love everything little change going vegan has done to my body inside and out. Life is amazing!!!!
I should also mention that I have not been sick in 3 years. I was vegetarian for a while before I went vegan too. No flu, no cold, no allergies.... nothing. Go vegan! Just try it out for a week and see what happens!

      Hi there,
If not already doing so, i do encourage to adopt (even if it means making small changes here and there) a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please take some steamed carrots, plant them and see if they will grow; if not, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot benefit one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains as it is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity. I do not even see a reason to use pharmaceutical supplements e.g Vitamin D is obtainable from organic chestnut mushrooms (UV exposed) and sun-dried mushrooms with the exception of the body's ability to make it (and store it for future use) when exposed to the sun; Iron from organic beets; Zinc from organic cashew nuts; potassium and magnesium from organic bananas; Omega 3 Fatty Acids (beneficial for the brain) from organic walnuts and pecans (looks like the brain and targets it).
Please avoid factory produced meat alternatives whose chief ingredient can be 'soy' and may contain preservatives as well as additives (e.g Vinegar, a corrosive agent). Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes

My boyfriend and I did Veganuary together and it changed our lives! My boyfriend has always been a massive carnivore, but his digestion has always suffered immensely because of it. He had no idea what was causing his digestion issues, even the doctors couldn’t work it out when he ended up in hospital with bowel bleeding. 2 weeks into Veganuary and I kid you not, his digestion completely cleared up and it changed his whole perspective on food and what he should/shouldn’t be eating! He’s gone from being really ignorant about veganism and slating it, to embracing it and raving about it to people!!!

J E - I cannot help myself, was that an intended pun? I have lived with digestive issues and it is no fun at all. I have found smoothies which I include 2 TB Chia seeds, and 2TB of Flax seeds, then the spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. Start with smaller doses of the Chia and Flax seeds as it does take the body time to adjust. I love my smoothies with Almond Milk, blue berries, mangoes and some nuts. It has helped me more than I ever thought possible. May the both of you find some solutions which work well for the both of you. Having a partner in life makes it more fun. So enJOY 😊 and best of luck on your new journey. Also, if you can afford a Vitamix I cannot say enough about ours. You can find them on-line refurbished and they are a great company to work with. We are always amazed at just how well is works and helps with the digesitive process. 🌻🌞🌿🌴 Heather sending sunshine from Arizona.

Like your family I've been watching the vegans around me eating better and feeling better. So I started digging around RUclips for info and felt meat shamed by most of what I've seen until now. My wife and I are trying to clean up our life styles so I started by cutting out 90% of my meat intake. After a few weeks all of the swelling in my ankles slowing went away. Your channel is the dopest.

My health has been the most drastic thing that has changed...I have Lupus and Sjogren’s syndrome and was facing starting a course of chemotherapy drugs to reign my immune system in. I went vegan in February of 2016 and my body has slowly healed and my doctor has slowly removed my mess and decreased dosages in the meds that have remained. I hope that in the coming months/years, the remaining meds will be removed. Even living with disease, I’m healthier than I’ve ever been.

      @lafujimama 6 лет назад +15

calif4lif 1Love Yes, my energy increased, my joint pain started to decrease, my headaches got fewer and further between, I started to sleep better...it was amazing! I just started to feel better in general...in ways I hadn’t even realized I hadn’t been feeling well! I haven’t had a true flare up in almost two years. I’ll have a few symptoms occasionally now, but they’re mild and if I’m vigilant about how clean I eat and making sure I get enough sleep, they always disappear. It’s not easy at first, but when you start to feel good, it becomes easier psychologically, because your brain will start to associate feeling sick and hurting with eating those foods.

    • @lafujimama
      @lafujimama 6 лет назад +12

calif4lif 1Love To get started, if you’re struggling with going all in at once, maybe take it steps. I recommend getting rid of dairy first, because that’s addicting. When you’re comfortable with that, then start removing other things one at a time. There are so many delicious substitutes that can help you along in your transition! Seriously, the magic of raw cashews and how they can be used as a substitute for so many dairy things? They got me through some of the tough days!

That's awesome! I have fibromyalgia and I have also noticed that my health is better now than it was before I went vegan. Even though I got sick about a year into being vegan (extreme stress flipped the fibro switch), my labs are the best they have ever been. And now that I'm more whole-foods based, I'm feeling even better. I don't think being vegan is a cure, but every little bit of extra energy counts. And I also believe in taking care of what parts of my health I can control.

When it comes to spreading veganism the age old adage of, _you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar_ really applies. Being the stereotypical haughty vegan doesn't work and I think you're a great example of that. Oh and btw I love the countdown animation. Very pretty and crisp.

    I so appreciate your commentary.
I've now been Vegan for 10 years and a Vegetarian for 20 years. I'm holistic and mostly organic. So my journey was quite different than yours, as it's more accepted now and more of a variety. However, there are too many changes to name. Hands down the second best decision I've ever made.
The most impactful changes were: I was able to cure Lupus and I'm a 2-time cancer survivor with NO remnants of cancer cells. Never had chemo, nor radiation. My journey has been long and challenging but worth every moment. I'm celebrating next month 10 years no flare ups and blood tests clear of Lupus. I was given 6-18 months to live in 1997. Was on 22 meds a day. But for the grace of God, I'm still here. The healthiest I've ever been. No medications since 2002.

Did you already eat healthily before, or did you start eating more healthily with your transition to being a vegan? I'm a vegetarian with a pretty balanced diet, and I have been incorporating more vegan meals into my diet. Nonetheless, I recently developed acid reflux. I think what works for one person doesn't work for another. I'm sure there are people whose skin clears up, whose digestion improves, their weight improves, etc. on a vegan diet, but some people also either don't see an improvement or see a deterioration in their health.

The biggest change I’ve noticed since becoming vegan, and people tend to look at me like I’m crazy when I say this, is the pure joy you experience when you rid your body of all that death and pain that comes from ingesting animal products. It’s “hippy-dippy” I know, but so true for me. I feel lighter, happier and more joyful being vegan. 🤪

Great! Although I am not totally Vegan. I am nearly 70 years old and has not eaten meat in 50 years, although I like frying my chicken once or twice a year and smothering my greens with Turkey tails, which is Smoked. But I do plan on cooking greens and adding other spices such as liquid smoke, onions, garlic and greens seasoning! I also like buying Alaskan King Crab Legs and Lobster and steaming them, also once or twice! Not eating meat has been great for me, so for now, I am totally happy with my diet. But I wish the best for those who are totally Vegan! I just might go that route someday, hopefully!

I can't watch them either but I believe they are necessary to show people the reality of their cruel and barbaric dietary choices. It's too easy to eat some brown blob wrapped in plastic without thinking about where it came from and all the suffering that went into it. Most people need to see the reality of what they are doing before they will change their bad habits.

      Hi there,
I would encourage to make sure to have varied plant food sources including organic squash and yams that target the stomach, as well as lemons to lower your stomach's PH level. Grape juice is also good for any stomach ulcers from my understanding, if you do experience those.
Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes
      💙💙💙

I went vegetarian and started growing dreadlocks in the same year. My family and friends thought I was losing my damn mind. This was back in 1995 - when you rarely saw people with locks and before there was a vegetarian selection at the grocery store, before the Keto madness and before there was a RUclips. Now, most of my family members are cutting back on meat and are even going veggie/vegan after looking at me sideways for 25 years! Going holistic and carving your own path challenges you and everyone around you. Now 25 years later what was not 'EN VOGUE" back then is now a true lifestyle for some and a psychotic trend for many. Hey - I always say better late than never.

My daughter has been vegan since 7th grade she is now in Vet school. She has been the reason my husband and I have become vegan. It took us a long time. The chicken was the last to go, I loved fried chicken! But now I see it's just something to season, so I season tofu. instead. I love how good everything tastes once you start to change how you eat and get rid of meat. Fresh herbs and spices help make simple dishes so good. My taste buds changed so now a simple bowl of soup with veggies & beans is so delicious to me. The biggest change besides weight loss is my mental clarity. I would sometimes lose words but now my thinking is. speaking is so clear! I love animals so much and she would say anyone who loves animals as much as you do should not eat them and she is right. Now when I see vast amounts of dead animals in the grocery store it makes me feel sick! P.S. your skin is so beautiful!! I am soon 60 and my daughter said my wrinkles look better and my skin is glowing! Thank you for your videos!!

#5 is great advice: encourage your family to transition by setting the example and _not_ by scolding or lecturing them. I have made the mistake of lecturing and arguing with my own family (who already eat healthier than most) and just made everyone angry. Nobody in my family can be "told" anything--they have to learn it for themselves or die trying.

Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes

Happy veganniversary! I love what you said about how if more people become vegan, then fewer animals will be born just to be killed. 😘

Well done! I'm over a year in and Jenné has been helping me almost from the very beginning. With any products that I found had animal products/were tested on animals I still used because throwing out the soap isn't going to un-kill the animal, and then I just wouldn't buy any more of that product That was my approach to it anyways, everyone is different. I still have a 2 year old leather wallet because I didn't want to waste money replacing it. Good luck on your vegan journey!

Beautiful reflections. I have experienced all the same things with health, skin, partner & family members going vegan/vegetarian and just eating less animlas, extending my compassion circle, becoming more natural, and nearly everything you mentioned.
I just discovered your channel a week ago & have been binging. Love your vibe

I grew up as an Africn-American vegan in the 70's in 80's and people made it seam like I cam from a family of freaks (I moved from CA to the mid-west). I am also a 3rd generation African-American non-meat eater (vegans and vegetarians) I wish I would've had other people to share my convictions and experiences with growing up. Life would have been easier. This post made my soul happy. I am glad that thinking is changing and people are progressing in this area. I am proud of you.
