I still remember seeing the boxes for the first game at my local toy / video game store. Been a wild ride. Here's hoping we all make it to see Civ XII.
At the time this vid was posted, in an alternate universe, somewhere... Gandhi nuked everything! XD I'm sorry, I can’t get that meme outta my head when I think of this franchise.
I don't get to hear this song very often, because it's not worth booting up the game just to hear it. If only there was a way to import it into Civ5...
The music you crammed into the intro really didn't fit nor add anything positive to the rest of the song. And while I agree with MOST of the imagery you selected for it I think the order in which you arranged it was atrocious. All in all, this wasn't very well done in my opinion. You should have omitted the intro music conpletely and attempted a more coherent flow for the video. Such as advancing from one era to the next instead of jumping around the timeline like Dr. Who with a head injury. Nice attempt, tho.
Hey thanks for the feedback. I had limited footage and did not want to cut in Beyond Earth or low quality footage from Civ4, as I wanted to keep the visual look coherent and the quality at 1080p. I mostly kept to the growth and development of civilizations starting with a settlement near a river, using the longship footage to indicate human expansion to new lands and moving on to bigger and bigger cities, intercut with warfare. There are huge timeskips, but I think it works. The opening bit of music is actually the Civilization theme, which sadly many new players don't even know. I had reservations about using it but after cutting it in, it worked as I had made a point to use the OG Civilization's intro sequence which does play the same tune, though in MIDI format. The version I used is from Civ4 before Nimoy's narration started. I do appreciate your feedback though
the music in the intro is the introduction theme to the very first Civilization game. This montage isn't just meant to fit Sogno Di Volare, it's meant to also pay homage to the Civilization series of games. So in that sense the intro and the end form nice bookends to the theme, and I think that's why he put it there.
3:56. 'Way to take one of _our_ achievements, spaceflight, and make it seem to belong to some other race. The music is nice. The politically correct lies are filthy. Listen, ye game producers: Neil Armstrong was white, and Elon Musk is too. So were Wernher von Braun, Robert Goddard, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Hermann Oberth, and Sergei Pavlovich Korolev. Every single person who has been on or within 1000 miles of the lunar surface has been white. The only other spacefaring groups are the Indians and the Chinese, and both of them are fifty years behind the white race. *WE* lead. A very few non-white groups have been able to follow _as distant laggers._ Most non-white groups never have, and never will, launch a rocket to low Earth orbit by themselves. Nigeria _owns_ a few satellites, but they BUY them from either China or the UK, and they PAY TO HAVE THEM LAUNCHED, either on Russian Dnipr rockets or on Chinese Long March 3 rockets. No group of Africans has the intelligence or the mechanical competence to do these things in-house. So you should quit trying to fool everyone in the gaming community that things are other than what they really are. Not every instance of historical revisionism is "fake news," but this time it certainly is.
It's just a game, so I guess it isn't a problem. But we will have done a stupid thing if, when we colonize other planets, we bring the other races (and the race problem) along with us.
The only way space colonization can be done is if a race that could potentially do it now does not dilute itself with another race. If there is a big race war, then this potentially space-faring race had better win it. Otherwise, the chance for space colonization will disappear, probably forever.
25 years of Sid Meier's Civilization. Just one more turn.

Nope. Sorry
Oh, I wish... You're era's up, because Gandhi nuked everything! XD
Amazing how far this game has come in 25 years.....you've summed up its spectacular legacy so very well.
Thanks Marcus, the Civ franchise is personal to me as I grew up with it as well and was mostly aware of all the games
I have seen true beauty. I am honoured.

BRAVO. What an excellent celebration of one of the greatest video game franchises of all time!

Even Christopher Tin won't be able to top this track for Civ7.
If he knew of this statement, I bet he'd accept it as a challenge

Let me guess Trump supporter? or just another neo nazi? Anyway I'll just block you as I don't want to be involved in anyway with someone like you ;)
Go right ahead. Please. By the way, though, it would be more proper to say "someone like you." You should brush up on your English diction.
