I love songs about serious subjects above all. It doesn't "take me out of it", it pulls me in deeper.

In "No hoard of value" they are talking about something that's very near to them, since they were born and raised in a miner area of Ukraine, and a lot of familiars and friends work in the mine.

I think No Hoard of Value is about more than the hardships of mining.. I think is a metaphore for consumerism/capitalism. The first half specifically describes coal mining and the way workers are exploited and exposed to dangers, but towards the end when it shifts up a gear it says WE dig, i.e we are all on the treadmill working ourselves to death . No hoard of value - no amount of material reward/pay can compensate anyone for being worked into the ground. It is a theme I think I hear running through a lot of Jinjers music.. On the top, Captain Clock, Dip a sail etc ....or it could be all about coal mining??
I find Jinjer's lyrics to be full of meaty thought provoking goodness. They fire on all cylinders.
ps. There is a great version of this live in Paris ...feat unicorn! ..

Tatiana has so much fun doing this. Who is Going to be the One is actually from their first album but the current lineup has refined it. So it's extra special because a song she wrote ten years ago is one of the favorites of the fanbase and on RUclips. That whole Cloud Factory album is excellent which is why when they got signed to Napalm records the company wanted to reissue it.

Great songs through various genres have historically delved into the harsh realities of life. Johnny Cash did it in country and metal is absolutely full of songs about serious topics. I mean Master of Puppets (drug abuse), Angel of Death (Holocaust), Hallowed Be Thy Name (waiting for your own execution) plus untold others are about real world issues.

This is a special to me too because I've discover your chan with a Jinjer react :) . In who's gonna be the one, they show how they write a song. If you take the first half of last part (raggae), and make the sound heavy, you've got the part before. If you make that part faster, you've got the part before again. ... For no hoard, I think if you play the part starting 3:15 during my enter in an octogone to fight Dark Vador ... Ok he'll destroy me. But maybe I'll dare to enter, if they pay me enough, something like 1 million :D

Jinjer is my second favorite band next to Gojira being the 1st. I came across them around the same time i discovered Gojira in 2016. Tatiana’s vocal range is insane! If Gojira an Jinjer went on tour together as well with Lamb of God. I believe Joe Duplantier an Tatiana’s vocals would work well together. My favorite album of Jinjers is Wallflowers. An my favorite song on there is Pearls and Swine which I think is an underrated track of Jinjers

Hey hey Big Daddy Goose...Who is going to be the One was the first Jinjer tune I heard..What Eugene is doing on bass is very reminiscent of Cliff Burton from Metallica...Vlad the drummer is a multi instrumentalist including piano guitar bass and obviously drums....In fact 90% of Jinjer's last album Wallflower was written by Vlad...I saw Jinjer about a yr and a half ago in a 500 seat club and they killed it ✌️🧐🤘

Had the pleasure of seeing Jinjer Live in Leeds,UK, supporting Bullet for my Valentine. If it wasn't for Bullet being amazing on the night and their new album being sick, Jinjer would've blown them away! Don't think many would've minded Jinjer being the Headline.

Well Jinjer`s musicians grew up in a region where coal mining is done and miners were treated like disoensable. Some of the biggest coal mines of the Soviet era are there for more than a hundred years.

All Jinjer band members (except Vlad the drummer, but he hadn't join the band yet when this album was recorded) are from the coal mining area in eastern Ukraine. They are children of miners literally. So they know pretty good what the second song is about.
Is it good when the song is about serious matters? Well it depends on the quality and on the mood. Sometimes we want to relax with the music or to escape of reality. But sometimes we need to be pushed somehow - and yeah, music is good way to be pushed in a certain direction. Jinjer's music is able not just to push, it punches and kicks our lazy asses to do something usefull. Or to think about it at least.
Metal Hellsinger is a great stuff.
But speaking of Jinjer... As far as I can see you didn't react to Tatiana's "Burial At Night" from that OST !
If you didn't hear it - I strongly recommend to check it out. Tatiana shines at her best, and the track is great overall.

First of all Tatiana's father is a coal miner. And Ukraine along with much of the rest of the world has nowhere close to the safty standards the US does, but even here a huge cluster of advanced and probably destined to be fatal black lung cases was recently found. For my part I'm such a hardcore Jinjer fan _because_ they tackle real shit, but also because Tatiana has an ability to find genuine wisdom, empathy, and new perspectives on everything she writes because she's always writing about something personal and real to her. I'm not particularly into heavy music about how much the band likes pizza or whatever.
Edit: see also the classic "16 Tons" which is a part of American musical heritage - Geoff Castellucci does a very good recent cover if you aren't familiar with it.

Music has always been a vessel for bringing serious issues to the front. Choose anything by Rage Against The Machine. Listen to Slayer's "Angel of Death" or "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. Or 1,000's of other protest/catharsis/history lesson songs. The fact that music today is so vapid and self-involved is more concerning to me than songs that speak truth to those that may not know. Darth Vader (edit: Who Is Going To Be The One is also a protest song, in fact the entire Cloud Factory album is anti-establishment rage at it's finest)
