    The first real review of the SPEED UTV In my opinion. Our first video was more of a "first impression" (because I had issues with my #,6 El Jefe at only 20 miles) but I after spending over 18 hours in the Speed last weekend, I think this qualifies as an official review.
    Also, #18 is one of the production vehicles, and it has the most up to date transmission, steering components, and accessories.
    There were no Speed employees with me, Robby Gordon basically gave me the keys and told me to go have fun, and create a video.
    The brass tax: this is a very good machine, and will be competing with a Pro R for the top spot. I think the early buyers of Speed are getting a ton of performance for the price. yes, there are still a few teething issues, which is to be expected, but the car is very good. The low CG, handling and suspension performance are very good.

    Love the intro. Sounds like it handles amazing and is probably pretty quick with the speed key. I can't wait to feel how the entire chasis and geometry and shocks all come together for a car that handles better stock than most race cars. The hype is real,nobody can deny that. Great video. I am not liking all the small issues this close to production,but Robby being a perfectionists will get it right...

    Nick: as always, you do a great job with your reviews. Rhon Utvrider here. We've met (at the Havasu Speed store). Thank you for putting this review together and posting it for all of us to enjoy. My El Jefe LE master number is in the mid 2500's, so I'm expecting to receive my car sometime this fall, which I'm totally fine with. I like those 35" Speed tires! And I agree that the Wilwood brake package is a good choice as well as the Eibach spring kit.

    It’s a great treat to get home from having my shocks revalved and rebuilt in Vegas today and watch your really well done video. Now I really can’t wait to get out and ride some. Thanks for putting all the time and energy into producing your videos!
    It sounds like running the stock 32” Speed tires or maybe a Tensor 33” DS would solve a couple of issues: how hard the power hits, the brakes being strong enough and belt life? 👍👍😎

    Great review Nick. Without a doubt this is the best stock riding UTV as far as suspension goes! The Speed tires have great performance but you did not mention durability. I am at 750 miles on my Speed and these tires are very soft compound and I will be lucky if I make it to 1000 miles on them!

    • @ChupacabraOffroad
      @ChupacabraOffroad  Месяц назад

      Thanks Randy, yes the stock tires wear super fast. But a buddy of mine helped Speed pit at Norra and said many of their tires looked great after 1,100 miles, maybe they mad ea running change on them? Hopefully so. Also, I blew out a rear tire at 18 psi. I hit a rock hard, but was a little surprised, I haven't done that in a while, with any tire brand. I think yoiu need to run higher psi in the Speed, it's so heavy, and deceivingly fast in the rough like you mentioned with the suspension.

    What I really appreciate with Robby is how fast he improves parts wether from testing or racing. Even customers' imput are taken seriously. An example is Nick's #6 utv and the wiring harness issue he had getting caught in the drive train. Robby has already created a shield to protect the wire harness in that area. Other examples...oil tank was redesigned to lower the oil foaming and now holds an additional 2 quarts of oil. Tourqe axles were all redone. Gen 3 transmission in all SpeedUTV's. There's no doubt in my mind that Robby recognizes issues and at warp speed makes improvements.
    I know I've made the correct decision by waiting on my SpeedUTV #710 RG El hefe. Robby is definitely an expert off-road and other disciplinary race car driver and has built a bad ass, safe, and reliable mini trophy truck. And out of the box!
    By the way him and his engineers...are currently at the different factories, making sure his expectations in manufacturing excellence are being met.

    Ok. So to roll up some of the last few videos ( and I’m not slamming speed)
    1) wiring is in place for all of the lighting. Cancel production lighting and go with Baja designs ( or what ever the owners favorite is like rigid or Sd lighting )
    -2) cancel mirrors with lighting/ wait for convex mirrors and Baja squad pros.
    3) aftermarket spring kit or upgrade springs from speed
    4) big brake kit to support 35
    5) speed or tensor DSR 35 inch tires.
    6) mild turn to make it wake up in the low end or run the speed jet w E85

    • @droolguy
      @droolguy Год назад

      The funny thing about that is it's not actually a big improvement, performs better in very loose material, performs worse on hard pack. It's biggest benefit is pretty much just that it has less moving parts. Radius arm pushes track width out on compression, and can be designed to gain camber angle under compression... trailing arm does not.

    • @DoubleTap702
      @DoubleTap702 Год назад

      @@droolguy the problem with the radius rod cars is stability. You don’t want to lose width while gaining height, especially in corners. Watch a a radius rod car through a corner, the rear lifts up and gets skinnier. Higher CG and narrower width is not what you want when cornering

    Nick, nice video: Yet some points: 1) this is not a production customer car, so we still don't know what real world production Speed UTV will be like, its hard to measure on a UTV that could be re-worked ??...2) Speed still has yet to deliver any production cars that I'm aware of to actual customers. I have a Pro R since May of 22, with over 1500 miles on it already! if you order a speed UTV today you will be lucky to get your car by May 24! by then my Pro R will have 3000 miles and be over two years old! Glad I did not wait! Lastly will be interesting to see spare parts availability issues, ect once real cars get delivered! yet who knows when that will be. for today and tomorrow I will keep driving my Pro R. PS Pro R are gas hogs that's for sure, i already had to add a 6-gall aux fuel tank to mine! one of the few things i don't like about my Pro R!.

    • @JeremyLynnes
      @JeremyLynnes Год назад +2

      @@Blazin2133 If you don't like the word crazy then let's use unusual. Its pretty unusual for a manufacturer to announce production vehicles are ready for customers when they actually aren't. You're allowed to 'visit' your car but not take it home. These aren't production vehicles yet and it really just seems like RG was up against the wall from purchasers to 'release' the cars. These first 20 or so 'production' cars should have had the shit driven out of them for hundreds to thousands of miles before offering them to customers. By the time this 'new' vehicle get's home it will have several hundred miles on it and an assortment of repairs and fixes applied to it. I'm guessing the car currently has 300 miles on it and it looks (and sounds like from this review) like it's been through triple that with belts replaced, wiring harness replaced, transmission replaced. Speed should turn around and sell these units as used/PRE-production and Nick should get a new vehicle, just like he paid for.

    • @Blazin2133
      @Blazin2133 Год назад +3

      @@JeremyLynnes It’s also standard practice for other brands to release vehicles knowing that their vehicles aren’t ready. Think “Stop Ride.” But that’s ok huh because customers have them in person, they just can’t drive them. Robby isn’t releasing anything until it’s right, hence why they are still testing and fixing things before they mass produce a whole bunch of vehicles. They can’t afford a Stop ride. Have you not been watching over the last 3 years? They have been driving them 1000’s of miles and more than just a few cars. You do realize that the car being driven here isn’t Chupacabra’s car? It’s a speed car.

    • @JeremyLynnes
      @JeremyLynnes Год назад +1

      @@Blazin2133 The 'stop ride' counterpoint is so tired. Of course things are going to go wrong with every vehicles. Yes, I have been keeping up with all this because I want one of these, but god knows I don't want a first year model after seeing all this. Those vehicles that they've been testing the past year or so were not production vehicles. Engine issues? Belt issues? Wiring harness issues? Transmission issues? I don't understand why people get so defensive when these points are made, what do you have to gain? You're right on Nick driving a speed car and not his own car but that almost makes it worse - now you're just borrowing someone else's because yours is non functional. I want to see RG and Speed succeed because when I buy one I want to be able to get service/parts after the fact but how they've handled this leaves a lot to be desired. There is no need to be a SpeedUTV apologist.
