Adding a bone stock vehicle weight full of fluids, a timed run across the whoops and staged race course are all additions that would help tell the story of each machine with the info you showed us.
Good points and we can incorporate into the future... Timing whoops or a race course is difficult (get consistent times and drivers) and dangerous, unless the OEM's supply them, and then, one mishap can screw it all up. @@ItMeZumn you're comparing apples to oranges. Yes, Can Am has been successful in racing but what does it take to make a Can Am strong enough and safe enough to complete the race. You basically have to rebuild the car. A arms, shocks, strengthen the front shock supports, complete rear suspension, and a actually safe role cage. That's not to mention seats and harnesses. The Speed comes with all that factory stock. For a brand new car they are ahead of the game. They will get the issues worked out the more they run these machines. We all get it. You're a Can Am fan, but this was a comparison of factory units and if you can be honest, you know the first thing you need to do for your own safety is replace the cage whether it's Can Am or Polaris. If you actually own a Can Am and you run it hard then you already know where all the weak points are. If you look with an unbiased eye, you can see where speed has made a attempt to strengthen those areas from the factory. Only time will tell.
Great video Nick! It came out how I thought I would. Still will not sell my speed for a pro r. A couple thoughts though. Does canam and Polaris use soft brake lines throughout? The brake fix on the speed could be a simple pad compound or master cylinder size. As for the power. I think speed has it setup to roll on too soft. The power and torque are there but just not down low like it’s in the tuning. I know this is a performance review but the customization ability from the factory is a huge plus for most.
Recently I was looking to purchase a side-by-side and checked with Coyne Motorsports and couldn't believe the amount of extra fees they tack onto the price.. if you see a price from them know that they will add five to $10,000 and that does not include the tax or the extended warranty.
Lol😂 yeah and the guy said lots of rebates....they give you all these discounts and a the end you end up paying of 65k they make up these numbers about destination fee and assembly fee and destination and all the bullshit.. next time ask the dealer to show you the original dealer invoice that they paid and they will go hide because that is the real amount they pay the manufa
Yeah lots of rebates then they add the fees and put that shit in their pocket. Ended up buying from wheels in-motion in Chatsworth, no bulshit fees no Freight no delivery no assembly and whatever other dumb shit these dealers add. Got a turbo RZR, for what coin wanted for a 21 Honda Talon
You could tell Robbie was a lil uncomfortable about the comparison tests but said it was a good thing! He said wait till the bandit,Diablo come out idk after him bragging about the pawer they were said to have how it will help! The next model should definitely be on par seeing how close the first is.
The speed UTV looked the best handling by far. And the shape and design of the car looks like it’s actually something instead of just a random design covered in plastic. But good job to all involved to give real honest feedback without being a sell out. The drag racing was a surprise to me. And you covered it correctly. Good job guys.
The core components/chassis/ foundation of the Speed are far superior. Just look at images of the bare frames of each of these cars. The steering feedback, brakes and power can and will be fixed as production rolls on with Speed. Great video Nick!
@@ChupacabraOffroad And Polaris will release a bump in HP on the Pro R in 2024 or 2025 to 275HP or 300HP with minor changes, your kidding yourself if you think that's not coming?? the 2.0L motor is just at the floor level in power! plus other improvements as Speed makes changes. nobody stays static!
@@ChupacabraOffroad 😁 I saw that later when I was Resubscribing to your channel again. I like your channel and NEVER say anything about getting kick backs 😆
Awesome video! Not enough direct comparison content for UTVs which has always been odd to me (let alone with the Speed of course). Was surprised how relatively close everything scored, the Can Am for being mostly unchanged and going on 6+ years old was cool it could somewhat keep up with the competition. If Can Am comes out with something new I look forward to that comparison video! If you run the E85 on the speed and change the brakes it would be interesting how the Speed does, the braking performance looked extremely weak compared to the other two like there was no hope of even locking up the brakes. The Speed ride quality I thought looked a lot more smooth and flowy in the whoops, and the Pro R actually looked worse than I was expecting with the tires coming off the ground quite a bit. Thanks for the content!
Maintenance cost and even parts comparison for a mishap to the front end. I like to keep a lot of spare parts in my trailer front diff, steering rack, radiator maybe I’m abnormal or over prepare for my weekends but when I priced the pro-r parts my jaw dropped.
Awesome review! The driving footage was great. You could see the speed car looked so smooth compared to the other two. Just by looks, #1 speed, #2 Canam, #3 Polaris. I used to like the look of my old rzr turbo but the new Polaris vehicles look like bugs 😂 made me get a Canam just because of that.
Thank you, and the Pro R felt more confidence inspiring in the big bumps, than the X3, but I liked the Speed most in that situation. They all have their strengths.
Pretty much what I was expecting. Speed nailed it in terms of suspension and chassis. The brakes can be upgraded and power can be added. I hope they remedy the steering issue. Not a bad performance at all when comparing to Polaris who has been dominating the market for so long.
My car is a 2017 x3 2 seat with 50k in parts added plus a couple hundred hours of labor. You guys did a great job showing the strengths and weaknesses of these three. The weight difference is the most shocking thing to me. I look forward to seeing how Can am responds to these newer sxs's. I think I prefer lighter and quicker but I haven't driven anything else.
As a Maverick owner and weekend warrior, ideally, I want to most reliable and comfortable car for my wife and I for our weekly 200+ miles ride. I don't really care about having all latest technology that my 80k truck has. Seating position and being able to seal the cabin from the dust is the most important to us. I prefer the lightness and torque of the canam for our type of mountainous trails. The speed car is a different animal altogether.
So how about a price comparison??? How much is the difference between the can am and the other two because if I can buy a can am and put the difference into it and have a custom to my liking car that now out preforms the other two that would be my route
you docked the pro r and can am because of things like needing gusset kits and different shock ends. (didn't happen during your test, you just know from experience.) Being that you haven't had enough experience with the speed you did not dock it I assume. But now that there's 2-3 cars out of the 75 released that have had blown motors, why wasn't that taken into consideration?
No motors have blown, but once there are several hundred in the market we will learn the truth on reliability. I get your point on the RZR and X3, but it's pretty clear on the Speed that it doesn't have 13" of tire scrub, no shock forks, cheap radius rods, ball joints or double shear improvements that need to be made. But you are right, some other fixes might be needed, as I called out the brakes and steering.
@@ChupacabraOffroad you mention all these issues on the pro r and can am. but your not going to address all the speeds issues: blowing smoke out the exhaust? Or the coolant and power steering leaks broken cv first ride out and the bad wheel bearings you mentioned.
@@rzrdude2782 he has mentioned those small issues in past videos. The issues were hose clamps. Small issues. 18 pivot points on the rear suspension of an X3 can NOT be fixed. The HACK chassis of an X3 can NOT be fixed
Will you do the brake test with the speed willwood brake kit? I'm curious to see what the difference will be for 4K. Depending on the results could sway Speed owner to upgrade.
I don't think so, I think it's extremely good, it's just not the best at everything, which would have been near impossible IMO. The RZR has years of refinement, what Speed have achieved is incredible. I love the feel and as a guy who loves suspension, I'd prefer it over the Pro R. After spending $3,500 on brakes, I still don't have to spend on a shock forks, ball joints, rear track bars, and the Speed would still work better. Both are awesome but the Speed is the real deal performance wise, reliability will be the true test.
I’m a rzr owner so I have my own bias, but god damn, the speed looks light years ahead in suspension and handling. And speed you basically have to buy nothing. You buy a can-am or rzr and would have to put 15k into it. The powertrain is my biggest concern on speed and Wanna see speed on some paddles in glamis too.
I think anyone waiting on a speed would like a rematch using speed key. I thknk it will more than make up for the other litre the Pro R has. And the Troy Lee pro R is the top tier not sure pricing difference but with optional big brake kit on the el jeffe still be cheaper?
Very predictable when it brakes loose and stays flat, has a short course stiff feel that is easy to drive and some Would prefer, wanted to call it out. I just prefer the feel of the speed, much more plush and by nature a little bit more roll… different strokes. Rzr had no steering feedback
@@snoop8093 Good point and I remember this when I drove it at the intro, but I think after new springs and valving it still don't know if it would feel as good as the Speed IMO

@@cautionontherun30 well that's not biased at all.
I’ve been waiting for this video. Great comparison non bias opinions. Thanks for keeping it 💯
What mode on the smart shox did you prefer on the X3?
The firm setting for the big bumps
Nice comparison. About what I expected with some interesting details.
Great info and presentation! Thanks!!!
Thank you
This was the video I needed.
I agree I’d rather have a Speed, handling and suspension is so good and after the big brakes I’ll be extremely happy
Recently I was looking to purchase a side-by-side and checked with Coyne Motorsports and couldn't believe the amount of extra fees they tack onto the price.. if you see a price from them know that they will add five to $10,000 and that does not include the tax or the extended warranty.
ADM fees at coyne are insane its not 2021-2022 anymore
Yeah I live in Yuma and try to buy local, but I'm not going to get taken to the cleaners to do so. Coin has a monopoly in Imperial and Liberty in Yuma
None of them have "random design," though. All of these machines have incredible amounts of engineering in them
Awesome video !!
The core components/chassis/ foundation of the Speed are far superior. Just look at images of the bare frames of each of these cars. The steering feedback, brakes and power can and will be fixed as production rolls on with Speed. Great video Nick!
Thank you and I agree with you on those points.
Do all your gauges and electronics work now?
Yes
Great work on the honest review man!
Thank you
Just curious.... Did u use the “Speed Key” on the Speed UTV ?
No, not yet, and we mentioned that in the video.... Coming soon.
@@ChupacabraOffroad 😁 I saw that later when I was Resubscribing to your channel again. I like your channel and NEVER say anything about getting kick backs 😆
It voids warranty, why would you want to do it so early on when it's not even broken in
@ItMeZumn wow this is first I heard of it voiding the warranty. Robby is such a 🤡
Did you watch and listen?
Love the honesty
Great test!
Well done!
I can't imagine running those brakes with the performance key on the SPEED. I'll bet there's an aftermarket kit for them ASAP
Maintenance cost and even parts comparison for a mishap to the front end. I like to keep a lot of spare parts in my trailer front diff, steering rack, radiator maybe I’m abnormal or over prepare for my weekends but when I priced the pro-r parts my jaw dropped.
Awesome video, keep it up!!!
Very honest review
Thank you, we wanted to add the points to give it some teeth and more accurately describe what we felt and thought.
Awesome review! I’m excited to get our speed car to test it out on the 4 mile track!!
The Speed car looks built for the 4 Mi track. Would love to see Nick come out and test it.
RG is going to be big mad!!!
😂 @ 6:12
Pretty much what I was expecting. Speed nailed it in terms of suspension and chassis. The brakes can be upgraded and power can be added. I hope they remedy the steering issue. Not a bad performance at all when comparing to Polaris who has been dominating the market for so long.
Does the speed sound that bad in person?
The speed car looked like it had a bit of a upper hand in the whoops but it sounds like a damn lawnmower
fantastic video. ty
Pretty good for speed considering it’s their first entry into the market compared to the other big box brands that have been around for a while.
What’s the price difference between them all??
You get what you pay for
My car is a 2017 x3 2 seat with 50k in parts added plus a couple hundred hours of labor. You guys did a great job showing the strengths and weaknesses of these three. The weight difference is the most shocking thing to me. I look forward to seeing how Can am responds to these newer sxs's. I think I prefer lighter and quicker but I haven't driven anything else.
50k??
@@boydco6587 LOL, yeah right. Suddenly that $45,000 machine ready to roll is looking pretty good.
Didn't you purchase the speed UTV with the unlocked 300 horsepower engine?
Can am all day 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As a Maverick owner and weekend warrior, ideally, I want to most reliable and comfortable car for my wife and I for our weekly 200+ miles ride. I don't really care about having all latest technology that my 80k truck has. Seating position and being able to seal the cabin from the dust is the most important to us. I prefer the lightness and torque of the canam for our type of mountainous trails. The speed car is a different animal altogether.
Great job guys, Apples to Apples!
So how about a price comparison??? How much is the difference between the can am and the other two because if I can buy a can am and put the difference into it and have a custom to my liking car that now out preforms the other two that would be my route
Has any speed lasted 500 miles to get the speed key ?
Fun comparison, I wonder if the can o ham would have scored higher if bang for your buck was a consideration 🤔
Great point
Hi are you or have u done the same shoot out for 2024/25
Did you run the speed utv with the speed key?
Trying not to bag it out , but the speed sounds like a bag of bolts rattling around at idle.
Love the honest review. A+++
Thank you
Awesome video that’s about what I was thinking it would come out to be pro R is a beast
you docked the pro r and can am because of things like needing gusset kits and different shock ends. (didn't happen during your test, you just know from experience.) Being that you haven't had enough experience with the speed you did not dock it I assume. But now that there's 2-3 cars out of the 75 released that have had blown motors, why wasn't that taken into consideration?
Thank you!!!
Going to be interesting to see when the front arms tear off that front Transaxle
The speed utv clicks, moans and squeaks as much as an x3 with 500 miles on it. Glad to see the x3 score low....it needs an update.
Will you do the brake test with the speed willwood brake kit? I'm curious to see what the difference will be for 4K. Depending on the results could sway Speed owner to upgrade.
Yes, and I'm excited to see the difference as well, they will be installed next week.
Really makes me question if I want to give up my spot on the Speed. Seems Gordon overhyped it quite a bit.
@@ChupacabraOffroad The last part is what worries me......If I do have a problem, how long am I going to be down for????
@@dskofich most of the things like axles and bearings will not be a problem. Speed has been making the same parts for years in the Wildcat XX's
@dskofich you're just now figuring this out!
50k for speed, 45k for Pro R and 35k for Can-am. What happens to the can am if you spend 6k on it and it’s still the cheapest model.
Even with the speed for fit and finish 😂😂😂😂
How about a score on availability???
I think anyone waiting on a speed would like a rematch using speed key. I thknk it will more than make up for the other litre the Pro R has. And the Troy Lee pro R is the top tier not sure pricing difference but with optional big brake kit on the el jeffe still be cheaper?
TO THIS NOBODY HAS THE BALLS TO USE THE SPEED KEY THERE I SAID IT
Nice job
I think these across the board are right. Plug in the prices. And it makes sense.
Good point
what about the pro R handled better than the Speed? Everything on paper seems it would be the other way by a long shot
Very predictable when it brakes loose and stays flat, has a short course stiff feel that is easy to drive and some
Would prefer, wanted to call it out.
I just prefer the feel of the speed, much more plush and by nature a little bit more roll… different strokes. Rzr had no steering feedback
@@ChupacabraOffroadthe four seat pro r is sprung for four people. so it is a little stiff with just one person.
@@snoop8093 Good point and I remember this when I drove it at the intro, but I think after new springs and valving it still don't know if it would feel as good as the Speed IMO
Pro R is quite the contender. I just hope Polaris has improved their quality control.
They haven’t! There’s a new recall or stop ride every time you turn around on the pieces of shit
