Small school under 1000. A public school. Where many struggle to make ends meet. They have great pride in their culture and football. But what they also produce is a lot of successful men after football. Their mana doesn’t just apply to football it applies to life. Proud fan from Wyoming.
Proud to be from Hawaii. These boys from the north shore of Oahu carry out our Polynesian strength and culture through football. Mahalo nui iā 'oukou pākahi!

I didn’t go to kahuku but this makes me proud to be from Hawai’i and proud to see the kahuku red raiders bringing attention to the islands. So many local boys have the talent to make it and this just helps them see their dreams come to fruition ❤
RIL to the other amazing boy who lost his life by suicide. The video mentioned the two boys but he remained nameless. He was the biggest Kuhuku football fan! He looked up to those boys. A joy to all! He is remembered, loved, and missed!!!
Thank you for this. I’ve lived the west side of Oahu my whole life but always had the biggest love for Kahuku. Love their community, and overall their football culture 🤟🏾🤙🏾 GO BIG RED
Mahalo nui NFL Network for putting this together and showcasing our awesome community here in Ko’olauloa. I would like to say that the disqualification was not by a judge but by a council of OIA principals that met and made that decision. They started the meeting earlier than scheduled and did not allow our principal into the meeting knowing that she was on her way from the school and had her wait outside while they decided the fate of those young men. Of the 23 schools and principals, Kahuku was not allowed in, and all but 2 of the principals voted to not allow the Kahuku football team play for the OIA championship that year. The 2 school principals that voted in favor of Kahuku playing were Castle and Ānuenue. The other 20 principals from Aiea, Campbell, Farrington, Kailua, Kaimuki, Kaiser, Kalaheo, Kalani, Kapolei, Leilehua, McKinley, Mililani, Moanalua, Nanakuli, Pearl City, Radford, Roosevelt, Waialua, Waianae and Waipahu high schools, whose jobs are to advocate for children decided that these children at Kahuku were not worth advocating for and took the chance for these boys to play against Mililani in the OIA championship away from them. The ruling from the judge came later, he was not the one that decided the fate of that season, those 20 principals did.
Wow...Just love how they covered, the great, the bad and the sad experiences for this North Shore community. Wish they had more Kahuku Grad NFL players speaking on their experiences in the community.
In old Kahuku stands our alma mater, Where the salt winds blow day after daaaaay. Where her doors flung wide for her sons & daughters true. Where the flag of freedom proudly waves about! Okay, this was the first football movie that really inspired me! I loved the videography, the respect to the players, coaches, and culture was beautiful! thank you
I love the Haka!! My high school (mainland) had many Pacific Islanders. A few went on to the NFL.. but, we used to perform a haka after every game for the crowd (community). It was the highlight of the week, in my opinion. The crowd would eat it up! The stadium would be so loud!! Hanna Pa’a!
This was so beautifully done. My heart broke to hear about the suicide and the I am so proud of these courageous communities who continue to thrive no matter what happen.
Good for St Louis, when I was at Damien in the 90s they smoked us by 80+. They had like 100 players and we had our QB also play DB. Ironman played both O and D Line. We the reason get that mercy rule😂
Although not a Kahuku alumni, grew up w/friends & other relatives who did & understand the family power, pride & commitment to something bigger than self....Imua, RR...ALWAYS Imua!
Glad the Haka is still being done. The first time Kamate was performed was during the 2000 season after hell week, for the talent show. Those of us that didn't know what to do got together with some kids from NZ and decided to do the Haka. The next year, they started performing Kamate before each game. Coach Sola should remember. It was his senior year when they started that tradition.
Though I was from town whenever my cousins would suit up for kahuku. I would always be apart of the RED SEA!! The pride of the North Shore is unmatched

Sad...really heart breaking to watch this and I found my dear friend...teammate...my uso Faga had passed away. Love you uso, I will always cherish our senior year together.
I love their dedication to football and their strong bonds it brings to the community. But HS football only lasts for 4 years. I think they should aspire more than just to play HS Football. Some will go to play college football, and select few that make it through college football get to play in NFL. Most will need mentors to guide them to a life after HS Football.
Nah, Kahuku football is for a life time, you grow up wanting to be a part of it, even if its not part of your future, playing on the team, being a part of the community its a way of life.
