I've heard The Rock is making a major film about King Kamehameha, lets just hope the producers dont pack too much pathos in it and instead give the hawaiian people credit and a little dignity back. But you have to do your part as well. My late friend Eddie Pu from Hana, Maui, walked around his Island once a year, visited people, assesed the land and educated the young about the changes he witnessed. His concern for the aina and the drive to do this walk every year for nearly 40 years, made him a great human being in my eyes, I miss our talks. And , yes, this is a great short movie, I want to see more ! Aloha

When I was in elementary school my Hawaiian history teacher taught me about King Kamehameha and how he was a smart child he was hidden in a cave behind a rock in a small tunnel and he knew the situation well enough that if he made any noise he would have been killed along with the other villagers. Now I could be wrong about that story but this video does capture that. So I think the young boy is supposed to be King Kamehameha.

A sad necessity, One of the polynesian cultures I admire the most, the Moriori of Rekohu, or the chatham islands had pretty much eliminated wholesale warfare from their culture, all that existed was a form of ritualized dueling for fighting, This was to end in disaster however when two New Zealand Maori Tribes, fleeing their tribal enemies in Aotearoa, managed to get passage to Rekohu on a european ship. They where all hardened by fighting in the musket wars and where armed with muskets and other weapons, sadly they made short work of the Moriori, killing many, eating many, and enslaving the remainder.

One time I met a group of native Dancers at a pow wow, I believe they were Ogalla. I asked them what dance i your tradition is that priasing, they laughed and said we just dance and move around... So I told them can I show you my Apache Gan dance and song? they looked at like I was crazy, and said sure. I did my dance and chanted native tongue songs. they were quiet no one laughed, I sat down and the main dancer said to me "my Brother we are so lost in the White Man's shadow, I am ashamed" It 6 years but 8 of them know song in scared tongue, play flute, and all dances and medicine. and why we are here the theory of the Great Pahana and the Great Weshu Tanaka. they teach the younger children the way of the HUman Being... We do alot of things similarly to one another and even have words that are the same but means a total different thing. So, you mean to tell me that people didn't migrate from Island to Island to get to where they are? You mean to tell me that people just sprung out of the sandy islands they are born from? Miss, with all the respect! Please, don't say we are different when your ancestor and mines migrated to the Islands that we are now in. Maybe, our ancestors migrated as a group in different boats to a specific island but drifted into different directions into opposite Islands. What is to say you and I aren't from the same ancestry DNA but our great great great grandfather's (brothers) drifted in opposite directions. Easy with the divisions amongst one another. All this because scientists are still trying to prove that Polynesians are a different breed of Islander than the other 2 groups? Science is based on theories and conclusions that makes the most sense. My sister, please don't get brainwash by what you read. Have you not learned that scientists have been making predictions for centuries based on ideological theories. Yes, pride yourself sistah for being Polynesian. But please understand that Polynesians, Micronesians, and Melanesians all migrated to the Islands. Refrain from thinking everything written in Google is facts. Being Polynesian and proud is a wonderful thing sister. Before a map was created and these words Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia was created by those who "has a plan." Your playing to the tune and you don't realize it yet because you think it's facts. All because it came from a reliable source as one would say. Throughout history it has been proven that scientists have cover up alot of actual facts to hide the truth from the world.
