I love mine. I took it on the Amain Hobbies 1/8 scale track and it was butter. Super fun truck to hoon with on the dirt and asphalt. It's super fun in the wet sand with paddles.
I have the V1, and also installed all the Vitavon "goodies"...and, it definitely helps improve vehicle in every way. I think a part of the steering 'problem' is the COG, as well as the underpowered servo. Putting in a stronger servo, and the weight of the Vitavon parts, definitely helped. Of course, so did replacing the stock electronics with Castle. 🤙🏼
I had the v1, I think I upgraded the steering components to hot racing aluminum ones and a faster/stronger servo. Helped the steering slop a lot. These trucks don't really need a lot of upgrades. I see Losi never fixed the floppy rear cage either 😂
I glad I finally got to see the battery being installed, now I know fixing the rear end geometry is going to be next to impossible. It appears moving the attachment point of the upper arm to correct the problem even with a bent arm would make inserting the battery far too difficult. I think the only way would be to have a battery door similar to the Super Baja Ray.
Something so cool about how the suspension moves in this thing. Very much like a smaller UDR, I really dig it. If I hadn’t been trying to get a promoto since release I might go for this thing.
Looks like a smaller sized UDR, and flies better too it looks like, as in stock vs stock lol. I've been waiting on you to get this one. The tires seem to be just the right amount of not digging in and ability to hook up to stay on top of the sand pretty well
I like the truck, too bad about the box and spare tires flopping around every time the truck gets air. Looking forward to see what you will do to your truck
If you care at all about lap times, almost any racer on the planet will tell you smoothness and predictability equals speed, you may actually want to go back to 2s, and since it's fully enclosed anyway slap in a flight pack for reduced weight and take those wheels off the back, the lighter setup will give it that much more agility and improve the damping of those spongy springs and for lap times much more importantly stability because that stock roll is extremely excessive, you'll doubtless gain stability and time and it's always worth noting even just a few hundred grams on a 10th scale weight loss wise is a big, big deal, power is great but if it's causing body roll, making you veer off the track and digging you into the dirt, all your doing is wasting most of it, and killing your acceleration, force is mass x velocity after all and if the force you can apply is fixed, ( by your traction ) the power is irrelevant so the increased mass actually just slows you down, which brings up the last point i have if you have them a super soft, wide or sand focused tire will surely get you much more speed since the surface is so traction limited, doing that may even make more power viable too but anyway good luck, and it does look like a very fun truck i may even pick one up myself!
Do you mean your buddy put Vitavon parts on his Baja Rey 2.0? Do they have parts out already or do the 1.0 parts fit? I agree about the steering, I love the truck (mine is the black Heatwave/Eisenhower version), but ya the steering really needs help.
I just got mine today and it is full of problems. The reverse is extremely slow. The gears are clanking. And my shop is closed. I’m too new and inexperienced to figure out what’s going on, but is this normal?
Yeah the torque steer on those things are crazy. It always pulls left under throttle lol if you find a way to keep that in check, definitely let us know! Cus I haven't figured it out yet 😂🍻
Torque steer is mostly caused by excessive roll slop in the suspension coupled with high motor speeds and torque, in a linier drivetrain ( front to back facing ) you can change the moments of acceleration by changing the mass of the motor / the drive train, either by weighting the drive axel so it matches the motor's total acceleration*its mass ( eg if the motor and pinion weighs 50g, and spins 3x the speed of the axel, you'd need to weigh the axel to 150g, eg by adding weights to it, or a metal centre diff so it counters the moment of force, or you can adjust or add a damper to the sides that collapse under acceleration, or you can swap the axel to a motorized axel, so there is no linier member transmission force through it and the motor will be in line with the moment of force on the axel, this is called transverse on full scale, and this will 100% remove torque steer forces at the cost of decoupling the front and rear if you're willing to go that far. hope that helps / gives some ideas for you!
@@NeutronicalGaming sooo upgrade the center diff, and add a damper shock to the low side when torque steering. I think I got it. Would a heavier drive train help? I'm willing to upgrade direct replacement parts, but engineering anything is outside of my wheel well lol would the metal rear drive shaft and axle help on top of the other stuff?
@@ransom8006 the rear drive shaft flaps around and isn't in line with the rotation of the motor most of the time so it probably wont make much difference but with a geometry that complex it's hard to say, i'd just recommend adding a center diff if possible, as for the swing arms and drive shafts specifically, it is known if you make the friction fit on the telescoping drive shafts lower it will cause less binding under torque so the truck can settle better, as with high torque it will act like a damper because it wont want to adjust it's length this is pretty minor in most cases but if you can find a smoother operating drive shaft it will help free the suspension a bit, so if you can find a metal one that will accept a light lubricating oil and prevent crud from getting in there with a shock sock or similar zip tied over it, it *could* work, if you feel inclined to test it let me know how it goes! do bare in mind these are general tips for things with linkages and torque steer, if you want more detailed info on this truck specifically, you'll have to contact an owner, while i do have 20+ years rc experience, we're just addressing the forces involved and i don't actually own this truck ( yet! ) but when i do i'll doubtless have some specific setup ideas for it.
Im suprised with all the updates to 2.0 they left the crappy steering. On v1 alu servo mount and servo rack does the job. Adjustable links help. Why is nose so high up btw? Is it preload? bet it hits steering as well with hardly any droop
The tires on the back are heavy. Most trucks are like that unless you adjust the rear sag. I don't run with the tires if I'm going to jump and run it hard.
At this point I'm thinking they build an upgrade path. For a few reasons 1. They wanna sell parts. And 2. They know people want to work on their trucks in this hobby. Makes it so we all feel like we can do a better job then them lol.
Runs fine without upgrades. I ran mine on the Amain Hobbies 1/8 scale track stock out of the box and it was butter. It's a fun truck to hoon on the dirt and asphalt. Does fantastic in the sand with cut-down paddles. It will plow the front end if you try to jump super soft sand because it doesn't have much ground clearance.
Hammer Rey was mostly garbage and not good at anything from anything I have seen on it. I was excited about that one at the time, glad I didn't get it as this looks to be far superior.
Be careful buying from Horizon Hobby. I bought one they sent two and charged me for two. Sent the 2nd one back unopened, they received it on 8/10 They still have not refunded me $585.88. It's a nice truck but it's not worth $1.171.76
I don't know why people still bother reviewing anything traxxas and their overpriced vehicles. Especially the way they've treated RUclips's in the past. Your only adding fuel to the fire. Myself I'll never own another traxxas again. Sold them ail all and don't want any of them back. Wish everyone would stop supporting them.

I personally own the 1.0 and I love it. You should get the 1.0 and have the 2.0 make a series
I'll really be looking forward to seeing how this runs with the max 10... Looks like you've done a bit of thinking on this.. great first run
Awesome! Going to be my next RC for sure.
Yep I'm getting that feeling too!
This thing is going to be awesome with a few vitivan upgrades 🔥
Spare tires seem to add a ton of weight, I know it's for scale driving but 1 spare may be good and get rid of all that floppy weight back there.
I was thinking about that combo too, hopefully the max10 g2 combo just doesn't falter like the max10 sct combo when he gets the full vitavon package

I like it but think the F100 body is drop dead gorgeous. I do wish the f100 came in that blue color though.
I'd like to see what you think about the new Traxxas raptor r
Vitavon upgrade !
Beautiful scale truck for sure, but that steering does need sorting alright. Nice run Joe
really nice truck, looks like it could use a rear sway bar.
Thats a beautiful thing 🎉🎉🎉

I'd like to see a driving comparison between this and the traxxas raptor truck
Not really a fair comparison, two totally different trucks 👍
@@jerryvolpini7987 they are both meant to be high speed desert trucks so I'd still like to see it👍
