Just stumbled on your site while looking for monitors and have been binge watching your videos. You have great content and are helping me feel more confident for my first baby girl who's due in a couple months. Thanks!
Thanks for the rundown. I've been curious about the different carriers but I wasn't sure how they sized up next to each other since all of the marketing says essentially the same things.
I’ll love to get a decent review of Nuna Cudl as well. Unfortunately we can’t find Colugo in Australia and apparently nuna cudl is the one closer to Colugo here
Where can you find the seal from the hip dysplasia website on each carrier? I was hoping Nuna would be making your list but I’m thankful for all the information on these other carriers. 😊
This is a great run down on the carriers. I really appreciate it because until now I've never heard of the International Hip Dyspepsia Institute. My question is how difficult are the magnetic buttons? Is there anyway your son could accidentally disengage the snap?
Hi there ... buckles are definitely easy for an adult but require enough force it seems to us it’d be incredibly difficult for a baby to operate them. Hope that helps!
How often do you use the carrier in the rear carry position? Looks like it would be more convenient for the wearer but definitely harder to get the baby back there.
Hi Andrew - the Colugo carrier isn’t rated for a back carry position so currently not at all. We were told, though, that a back-rated carrier will be available soon so when it is you better believe I’ll be switching to that.
@@Fathercraft oh I meant generally speaking... how often do you carry your kid on your back? If not that often then it doesn't really matter if the current Colugo has that option? Just wondering if I should wait on the next model or if this one will work for the majority of the time.
Ah - thanks for the clarification. I think a lot of it depends on your level of activity and the size of your kid. We like to hike and be outdoors and Calvin is a rather large kid so the back carry will definitely come in handy for me. It’s also just nice to have the option if needed.
@@Fathercraft Got it! We live in a tropical climate so I appreciate the comments on how comfortable these things are for the wearer as well. Great reviews!
Fathercraft I have not, wife just had our first baby and I am currently in the market for a carrier. I’m a pretty big boy at 6’5” and 260lbs. So looking for a nice strong one that would accommodate my size.
Haha - you’re not kidding. I would say that most carriers can be adjusted to technically “fit” you but unfortunately how comfortable you are while wearing it is mostly subjective due to varying body types and shapes. I will say that “breathability” is probably something you should strongly consider - a mesh-like fabric that’s lighter weight. The Colugo performs really well in that area and I’ve read that the Ergobaby Cool Air Mesh is also very breathable.
Are all of your picks ergonomic for baby and parents? I'm most concerned the M shape for the baby's legs. Also, which model is most convenient and easiest for switching throughout the day between a bigger and taller parent and a smaller and shorter parent? Thanks for offering a giveaway! :)
Hey Rebecca, I just talked to John (who's quite a bit bigger than his wife) and he said the Colugo and the Baby Bjorn were easiest to adjust back and forth. And yeah, all of our top pics were ergonomic for baby--they're all hip dysplasia institute certified, some were more comfortable for us (Colugo, Baby Bjorn). Hope that helps! Paul
My wife and I are very different heights. Any suggestions are far as carriers? Possibly get 2 different ones so that we don't have to constantly adjust straps?
Hey Nick. My wife loves her Ergobaby and I love the Colugo but a lot of it depends on your budget and how often you plan on using a carrier. If you see yourself getting a lot of use out of them then having a his and hers is probably the most effective option.
Thanks for the question, Elroy! Most carriers have a weight limit of between 35-40 pounds, give or take a few. Best of luck with the new one on the way!
Hey Cesar, Ergobaby made John's wife feel the most confident with an infant, but all f our top carriers are infant-rated, and in our opinion it's more important to get one that's going to be a good fit for the long-haul
I heard someone say they didn’t want to wear their baby and put on a backpack at the same time. Is that because of a safety issue with wearing a baby and having a backpack on or is that a personal preference type of thing?
Hey Trish, stroller video is on our list for sure! Unfortunately not coming super-soon but we're excited to do it. All the best and thanks for the suggestion!
Dad joke game on!!! Thanks for the video 1. Question, how easy are they to clean, wondering not just poop spills but also coffee stains, mud... Do they just go in the washing machine??
Subd This channel deserves more views !!!! I like the idea of being able to adjust yourself before you’re baby I think my wife would love the colugo.. Why are the magnetic buckles such a plus ?
Yeah this was a tough one to iron out from a logical standpoint in that on one hand we could just solely focus on the baby carriers themselves and pick our favorite one or we could include some bits about what the different types of baby carriers are how to use them why you would want to choose a certain type and the like but at the end of the day we decided hey better to have more info than not so we went ahead and decided to include those first five minutes knowing that it might redundant information for some people but sometimes you just need to go with your gut and many times it pays off but sometimes it doesn’t and of course it doesn’t feel great when that happens but at the end of the day (did I say that already?) you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
Your opinion on wraps is ridiculous, they are used worldwide for thousands of years, to great effect. It takes a bit of practice, but are very versatile and comfortable for both the parent and the baby for long stretches.
@@Fathercraft I own both types, and they serve different purposes. Just like how you can still ride horses into the bush where a car won't go. Don't be so smug.
I apologize, your opinion that my opinion on wraps is ridiculous triggered me, given that my opinion is I prefer sacks to swaddles. However, I'd say if we're talking about "the bush" then a better comparison would be horses to jeeps - obviously no one serious about venturing into the bush would take a car. So, to that effect, jeeps are much more efficient to use and definitely safer to ride around in than a horse. Therefore, I prefer sacks to swaddles.

We were just looking for which baby carrier to register for? Thanks for the info.

Love the poem, love the puns, thanks for making parenting fun - seriously great video! Also your set is dope and bespoke.
Thank you, Jeanne. I’ve got a great cast of characters around me that do the heavy lifting.
Well...I guess I literally do the heavy lifting in this video but ... you know figuratively speaking people around me also do heavy lifting.
What would you recommend for 2021 baby carrier?
Thanks for this vid! I’m just starting to do carrier research and I’m still in that lost/overwhelmed stage. Your video definitely helped!
Ran across your videos this evening researching monitors. You answer alot questions and your videos are great keep up the good work.
Awesome Joshua, glad we could be helpful and thanks for the kind words.
Why am I barely knowing about hip dysplasia on my 6th child? 😥 Thanks for introducing me to it.
What about the nuna cudl?
I’ll love to get a decent review of Nuna Cudl as well. Unfortunately we can’t find Colugo in Australia and apparently nuna cudl is the one closer to Colugo here
Thanks for the reviews I swore by babybjorn when I had my 1st child 15 years ago but you’ve given me some interesting aspects to consider.
That’s great to hear!

If the brand has it, it’s usually displayed somewhere on their site.
@@Fathercraft okay awesome thank you!
We really need a baby carrier! How are the baby leg ergonomics of the colugo?
Thanks for the tips! Are you all more so fans of the backpack / strap type baby wearables or are there any sling types that you also like?
I haven’t tried any of the slings or wraps but my wife has. For me, it looked overly complicated to put on and I needed something much easier to use.
@@Fathercraft I hear ya! Plus I want something my husband and I can use, interchangeably.

the Nuna Cudl is my fav.

Great stuff! What are your thoughts on the Infantino carriers?
Hi Chris. I’m not familiar with that brand. Have you had any experience using one of their carriers?

Glad I came across your RUclips video, otherwise, I wouldn't have known about Colugo!
Awesome Penny!
Would you recommend the Colugo carrier for significantly different sized parents?
I would. The straps are really to adjust so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Great advice and helpful in choosing a baby carrier !!!
Thanks for doing this video! Have you ever tried any of the ecco carriers? If so, what are your thoughts🤔

Any thoughts on TacticslBabyGear?
Hi Mitchell - We haven’t tried any of their products but they seem to be a fairly popular brand.
I have the tactical baby gear carrier and love it. I also wonder how it would stack up against these 5
Are you going to review any more carriers?
We don't have any in our immediate review queue, but can definitely add to the backlog ... what were you wondering about?
How long are babies recommended to be in a carrier?
Thanks for the content btw. Expecting in august so I’ve been binging!!

what is the weight limit for the colugo? i hope to win one!
:)
Hey - heyprettylady619. The weight limit is 30 lbs. Thanks for the question and good luck with the contest!
I heard someone say they didn’t want to wear their baby and put on a backpack at the same time. Is that because of a safety issue with wearing a baby and having a backpack on or is that a personal preference type of thing?
Hi, mostly personal preference but a front-pack and a backpack together is going to make for a whole lot of straps!
Fathercraft oh ok thanks
@fathercraft can you please do a video on strollers?

Hi Luis! Great question - partly because it just sounds cool when they connect 😎. But mostly because of how easy they are to operate.
Love your videos! Very helpful!
Thanks Sarah, appreciate the kind words!
