Great video! Thanks for making this. Using the screwdriver with no bit to compress the spring is very smart. My sear came today. Got it installed. Trigger was 7lbs, now it’s 3.5lbs with Henry spring. Huge difference, great video & product.
I know this video is a couple of years old but I wanted to mention the issues I had with these trigger sears. I have three Henry Big Boys so I ordered three of the sears and spring sets. The first one went in easy and took my trigger down from just a hair over four pounds to three and a half pounds. Very nice. The second one was very tight on the safety assembly in the lower tang and would not let the trigger reset. I actually took a small chisel and wedged it into the part of the sear where the pin goes through. it opened it up enough to then function properly and went from four pounds to three and a half. The third sear took it from four pounds to four and a half pounds. I tried to figure out what was causing it to drag and increase the trigger pull but I really didn't see anything obvious. I went back to the original parts on all three guns because I lost confidence in these parts and a half pound less pull was not even noticeable.
Best how to video I've seen! Not only was it informative but there were great angles showing what you did! I was able to switch out the trigger sear easily because of this vid!
Great Video you are the only one that does the cleaning video the right way nice simple and easy to follow. thanks for taking your time on these videos.
Brilliant. I’m not at all technically minded but easily followed the very clear directions in the video and finished the job in no time. Superb video. Big difference to the trigger pull too. Many thanks.
This is absolutely the best "How to" video I have ever seen!! Thank You! I just installed this on my Henry H009 and the process was exactly as described in this video. The trigger pull feels better but I need to go to the range and test it.
Thanks much for the video. Great tip on the main spring replacement as well. I also used that trick to remove it. One note, the 45-70 X model does have the 3rd support screw on the other side.
Thank you for this video! I have two Henry X Model rifles chambered in 357 Mag and 30-30 Win. First rifle, I followed along with your video very carefully -watch out for the other pins in trigger assembly that can come out on their own. Second install on my 30-30 came apart and completed in 10-15 minutes!
Now, the reason to go back to my first love of rifles. Love the lever action. My first was Henry lever action. Tactical Lever action. I'm in. The modularity and customization is awesome.
Awesome video, can’t wait till the multicam costa set ships! Fysa, I have a model X and it does have the extra screw on the back to hold in the trigger plate/assembly.
With the winchester ‘73 there are so many little things you can do to make it a very slick cowboy action rifle. The old marlin cowboy rifles have also been used in cowboy action because of its design and ability to slick it up. Of course things like the sear on the Henry can be polished etc, but I have not seen any videos about polishing up a Henry. It would be great to see you do a complex polish job and show the results.
They have q.d. post that have m-lok attachment now . Looked into it , so I can use old rifle straps on AR-15 platform. Now, they can stay on lever action with the m-lok handguard. I'm so excited. I need one in 30-30.
Having a lot of trouble getting the screw for the trigger group to go back in. Any advice? This is my first rifle and first project on a gun, and I don't want to fuck it up. Really struggling because I get everything lined up but when I get the screw started everything moves.
@@buildhuntxplore I had the same issues,,,But I would NOT hit anything with a hammer. Once I assembled the trigger group I had a punch through it holding everything together,, but that has to be removed to install the complete trigger guard plate assembly. Then spent the next hour attempting to get the trigger bolt through,, removed everything numerous time and retried. Bottom line is,, You can feel the spring tension just putting a slightly smaller punch in,, no way everything will line up while you have no access to shift each component around. It required putting a slight chammfer on the trigger bolt shoulder,, chase tapping the trigger bolt hole threads in the receiver and making 2 prying tools to shift the internals while the guard is in stalled. Consider yourself damn lucky the bolt dropped right in for you
I have one one the way. I want to order some spare parts to have on hand for my Henry! What parts on Henry’s have you seen break or damage which needed to be replaced?
Great video Brian! Just did mine this morning but after install my lever loop doesn’t lock into place. I’ve tried refitting a few times but haven’t figured it out. Bolt cycles fine, trigger feels great but lever just won’t lock into place. Have you ever run into this?
Great video! I have run into an issue where the screw that holds the trigger group and hammer into the rifle will not seat into the threads in the actual side of the rifle. Had to put pressure on it from the bottom side to get the threads to let go and come out in the first place. Any advice?
@@calebwilson5512 I ended up taking the screw and threading it in from the other side. Seems the brass threads are really sensitive and can deform slightly. Using the screw on the other side seemed to act like it was being tapped again and fixed the threads. After I did that I had no more problems. Used that screw on the opposite side, corrected the messed up threading, then put the screw back through its original hole. Worked like a charm.
@@calebwilson5512 had this same issue. What's hanging up is the trigger release that gets pushed up when you seat the lever against the butt stock. It pivots on the same screw and it is out of alignment. You just have to get in there with a pick or small screw driver and work it around that area with a small amount of pressure pushing in the screw head with your finger. Had to figure this out yesterday after a lot of frustration. I'm going to make a piece of rod or plastic to align all that up before putting it back into the gun. Then it will just push out when the screw is inserted. That's the plan anyway. Works for other firearms, especially roll pins.
I just got a Henry Big Boy X in 357. While waiting for my background to clear, I ordered some furniture and parts from Ranger Point, so I decided to order the sear and spring while I was at it. I got the rifle home and realized how sweet the trigger is out of the box...sweet enough that I'm wondering if I should leave it alone! I upgrade triggers on many most of my guns, but this is one of the first times the trigger was good enough to make me question it. I read that some folks change only the sear and leave the factory spring. Does anyone have any experience with the difference between changing the sear only, as opposed to both? Anyone manage to get lucky with a great trigger out of the box? This is my first Henry, so I dont have a baseline. I'm going to measure the stock trigger pull tonight.
I just measured the trigger pull and I'm getting a very consistent 3.5lb trigger pull through 10 test pulls. RPP says most are over 4lbs from the factory and these parts usually get it into the 3.5lb range. I think I'm going to try the sear by itself first. If that gets it down to 3lbs, the spring will probably get below 3lbs, which is a little light for a levergun that will be used in the field, I'm my humble opinion.
Tbh, the worst part about this is lining everything up so the oem wood buttstock slides back on over the hammer spring strut (idk what it’s called, it’s the post the hammer spring is on)
Hey there brother, I am wondering if you can point me in the direction of a "black powder" weapons dealer close to your area? I am having difficulty in finding one. I've check the "BIG NAME" stores, and came up empty. If you can help me that would be great, if not I totally understand. KEEP YOUR POWDER DRY AND YOUR SWORD SHARP! #2A #CONSTITUTIONALCARRY

Awesome. And I normally don't use that word very much. This video was spot on. Thanks a bunch. It makes such a big difference.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!!
Yours videos are great. I never would have got my gun put together without them.
Thanks! I’m glad they’ve been helpful 👍
Easy money on this kit. Made my trigger feel like a custom

Excellent instructional video! I was nervous about installing this upgrade myself but not anymore.
Thanks for the good instructions. Only took off 1.5 on my trigger. Brand new all weather 45-70 for what it’s worth

Thanks all I needed was the main spring seat position and you showed that well !
Great video, and a great trigger upgrade. My Henry X in 45-70 had that third stabilizing screw.
Thanks! Ah ok, good to know 👍
just installed mine, thanks for the video! Cheers!
The trigger on my stock 2022 H012 is 3lbs 5oz. Three time pull with Wheeler Professional trigger gauge.
This video was very helpful to me. Much appreciated!

Excellent. Well done and thank you!!
To get the trigger screw to aline. I had to jiggle the new sheer spring up and down with a small flat head screwdriver.
Thank you very nice video.
What stock do you have on your Henry?
Welcome and thank you! That was the Form Rifle Stock. Excellent quality!

Would you recommend a dab of blue loctite on the the screws?
Having a lot of trouble getting the screw for the trigger group to go back in. Any advice? This is my first rifle and first project on a gun, and I don't want to fuck it up.
Really struggling because I get everything lined up but when I get the screw started everything moves.
For some reason my hammer screw in just refuses to catch after being led through the trigger assembly. Any thoughts?
They can be a pain. Triple check that everything is lined up, if it is, sometimes a lite tap with a rubber mallet will coax it in.

Great mod tutorial. 👍👍
Thank you!
Would this work on the new long ranger series of henry lever rifles?
I have one one the way. I want to order some spare parts to have on hand for my Henry! What parts on Henry’s have you seen break or damage which needed to be replaced?
Zero breaks, issues, or malfunctions 👍😎 And I’ve run it hard. Also, check out my IG page. I just shot a .59 MOA group at 100 yards with it 🤠
Another great video! Thanks!
Welcome & thank you!
Fantastic. Thank you.
Are there any differences when installing this kit on a pistol caliber model?
Great video Brian! Just did mine this morning but after install my lever loop doesn’t lock into place. I’ve tried refitting a few times but haven’t figured it out. Bolt cycles fine, trigger feels great but lever just won’t lock into place.
Have you ever run into this?
Check to see if the trigger detent pin/ lever lock pin fell out during re-assembly. That's what happened to me.
Is there a sear and spring to lower the trigger pull
I forgot to say for a H001
Have you tried installing this on a Henry X in 45-70? If so when you pull the trigger, does the trigger reset back forward or stay back?
Great video! I have run into an issue where the screw that holds the trigger group and hammer into the rifle will not seat into the threads in the actual side of the rifle. Had to put pressure on it from the bottom side to get the threads to let go and come out in the first place. Any advice?
What was the issue? Have this same issue right now. Can’t get the screw to push all the way through to start to thread into the rifle.

Just put one on mine 2.75 lb break

Curious. Where do you get that butt-stock?
It’s a Form Rifle Stock. Awesome quality! They have a few variations of it.
Can someone tell me what butt stock he has on his rifle?
