For any Americans in the audience - in Europe, when you see the Confederate flag, you usually see it flying alongside other flags like the England flag (not necessarily bad), or Sinn Fein flag (arguably pretty bad) or the swastika.
How is the so called "sinn fein" flag worse than the confederate flag? You know the history of both don't you? 1 is about slavery and the other is fighting for there freedom and country back.. I'm guessing you're English
@@craigpardy6204 the point wasn't about which flag was 'worse', it was about the context. When you see confederate flags in Europe, they're flying alongside flags of militant nationalists, terrorist sympathizers, or literal Nazis.

@@craigpardy6204 not sure your point. The reason why the Confederate flag gets a mention in this story might not be obvious to Americans because they might not understand why a person in England immediately assumed it connects to racism. I've explained why Europeans will make that association.

Well over half of us identify that flag as a CIvil War --- second place trophy
I think the majority see it as the de facto flag of either racism or slavery (as well as the losers medal for the south)
