    Curveball....everyone enters the market and rates crash again.

    You know I was curious as to why 'reefers' make significantly more than dry-van, but after driving a reefer for over a year I now know why. They make more money to compensate for having to sit at shippers and receivers for 5,6,8,10 hours to get loaded and unloaded. Oh yeah, and a tiny fraction for the additional cost of operation...

    • @nicolagaballo3120
      @nicolagaballo3120 Месяц назад +1

      Well, also the cost of the trailer is significantly more, +refeer breakdown insurance + refeer diesel.

    Sorry to burst the bubble here but the PMI index for June of 2024 has gone down. This means that there are less goods to ship because less are being purchased.. today JB Hunt stock has suffered because of this statistic...

    When it costs $2.29 to operate, how can you run at a profit at $2.10? 🤔

    • @JeancTejada
      @JeancTejada Месяц назад +1

      How did you come up with that number? Do you mind breaking down your cost?

    • @georgek.5817
      @georgek.5817 Месяц назад +6

      @@JeancTejada so $2.29 is the national average, it’s why I used it. Now, it costs me much less, my equipment are paid for, in good condition, and I don’t have much overhead. I NEED to charge per national average plus labor so if it’s .75 cents that I feel I should get paid for or what have you, therefore ultimately I should be averaging around $3 a mile. Reason why I MUST charge national average plus labor is because things may be going ok for now in my situation NOW but I will need a new engine eventually or a new trailer or what have you. I have already paid for the dues, I have already run for breaking even and even for free, feeding brokers’ families, it’s time now to collect now because bills WILL eventually AGAIN come due. So say as an o/o you have $0 expenses. You do not charge .75 per mile SIMPLY because you are going to make a profit. You charge what your expenses are plus the worth of your time out there.

    • @NorthAmerican-Trucking-News
      @NorthAmerican-Trucking-News  Месяц назад

      That is one area among many. An average is taken by comparing load rates across the entirety of the US, adding them together and dividing it by the grand number of all the loads. Naturally, this means there are rates below the average, and rates well above the average
