Not so sure about the bows and rain. You're talking about horn bows that are glued together. I'm not sure the early Scandinavians were using that kind of bow; that was more of a Central Asian / Steppe style bow. The Scandinavians had plenty of wood (And good bow type wood) to be bothered making a composite style. The rain might damage the *string*, but most archers will carry several spares and may even have waxed them for that purpose.
The bows: there were historical composite bows from Scandinavia wraped in birch-bark that have been sealed with heat to create a water tight yet flexible protectiv layer of the bow. So even though perhaps the most common type in the south thy could still for sure have existed in enough numbers in such a big army to arm a small tactical unit. All I am saying is that it is possible (just not with the bows shown).

Ragnar didn't even have missing fingers. What is he talking about?
Kazza 8240 are you sure about that
Look at the tops of te fingers, then u wil notice the top op his ring finger is missing.
Floki can make anything. Lol he did make the hammick
also it just looked like fishing net hung up to dry.
14:00 the hammock was found in America, maybe, and it was the Vikings most likely that maid it, or the indians, anyway, Vikings was in America way before Columbus so maybe it was them invented the hammock. Any thoughts on that?
I remember Azlock telling Floki to teach Ivar how to be Viking when he was still a very small child.
Oh, in Norway it mainly airs through HBO Nordic edition. I can't remember entirely but I think we get all the nudity that the blue ray does
yup, In Finland I have watched Vikings on Viaplay, HBO Nordic and Elisa Viihde and all of those has the extended most mature scenes
yeah here in uk we get all the nudity as well...is it just america who get the clothed area i have a friend whos American and she was shocked when she saw even at 9pm our watershed nudity starts she said they just dont get that on their TV programmes
La GIRTH ah made me chuckle. Love this video! 10/10 content
Really??? Cos me and most other people commenting thought this video was shite
@@Kazza_8240 That's okay if you didn't like it. We don't have to like the same things 🤗
@@ironswolemaiden9954 you're cool to just not let it get to you. Most Vikings fans that commented are typing through gritted teeth - me included. I like your outlook. ✌
another inaccuracy are the earrings, there were no earrings in the viking era
Floki the Hammock builder, well ahead of his time that one!
“La ger tha”. Don’t do these if you don’t watch the show. She’s probably a top 3 most iconic character and you can’t get her name right. Smh
Yeah, top 2 other characters would have to be King El and Queen Mercia, which he DeFiNeTeLy said correctly
5:23 the character was not named Mercia, that was the land she ruled. It was Qwentrith
You guys really should watch the show before making these videos. Apart from the mispronunciation of some names, you even mistook the name of a freaking Kingdom with the name of the Queen wtf. Mercia was the name of the Kingdom
I might have found another one:
I don't remember on what season, but someone accused one of the Lothbrok family for 'blackmailing him' the phrase 'blackmail' was not used till mid 16th century.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Vikings already showed 800AD which is way before.
This guy didn't even watch Vikings lmao
Should have mentioned Ivars blue eyes meaning. Osteogenesis imperfecta. When the whites of his eyes are blue, his bones break under his own weight.
"They were going to use the name 'Raid' instead- and I get a commercial of, guess what 🤔
3:21 thats wrong the bows would have held up as they used wax and pine pitch to finish the bows witch are all water proof , including the string wraps where also dipped in wax before the wrapping process , i am a boyer and have made many traditional bows , they are fine in water, they hadto be to hunt in heavy rain or snow!
Now I wish I got the blu ray instead of dvd....
I didn't not know 1 of these things you listed. I know all about Vikings. I think somebody at screen rant really just wanted a reason to talk about the show, but that's fine with me. Vikings is awesome.
Yes, it happens rather often on the media pages when something is a trend as they need the clicks, so why not on RUclips. ;)
@@TeamIvanKaye I didn't think screen rant would ever talk about Vikings. I wasn't sure it was mainstream enough for them, lol. It's honestly one of, if not my favorite show of all time; up there with Breaking Bad, Mindhunter, and The Punisher.
@@Smokin_Snowman Oh, they've talked about it on their online magazine page quite a bit lately, especially last month. Clearly jumping on the trend - who can blame them? 😉 I even had a little rant over on Twitter and Instagram about their opinion that King Aelle doesn't deserve a spin-off (and especially about the reasons they gave for it) as I totally disagree with that appraisal. 😂 At least, they acknowledged Ivan's amazing work on the show to some extent in that article. But I think I've seen them comment in prior years as well? Maybe just not here on RUclips? Have to check that...
what about the actor John Kavanagh who plays the seer is also the pope in rome? two completely different sides but the same person?
You can buy the jewelry, I found the name but didn’t look at their shop? I mean based on pronunciation there wasn’t a whole lot of effort put into this
Don't get me started on Prince Oleg and his 600 years early hot air balloon!!
please start!! :D
If that episode was in the first series I would of stopped watching the show there and then.
That was the first thing I seriously hated about this show
Nice video but Greenland (or Grönland) is called so, because it was, well, green once
Russia got its name from Vikings mainly from Sweden and these Vikings were called Ruser.
4:37, wow totally forgot Kattegat used to look like that. It’s expanded so much!
Nobody:
Narrator : *LagErTHa*
In the episode where ivar is going to search the fighting area. He moved his legs while stepping off his wagon
Can’t believe they missed the link between vikings and world of Warcraft......and Taken....
This narrator is so bad he probably thinks Vikings has links to pac man, pong, and breakout. 😒
Thank you-love it!
I love this show
Sorry matey! It was first on FOXTEL in Australia, then SBS and now on Netflix. Just sayin' as I'm an addict of the show.
(oh and Helga was fully naked on Foxtel but covered up on SBS and Netflix😉)
Great video, thanks for the upload.
Cheers xxx
Its "Princess Kwenthrith" FROM Mercia, the character was not "Mercia". England was divided up in 4 areas, Anglia, Mercia, Northumbia and Wessex. Anglia wasn't mentioned until season 5, but lots of fighting between the 3 others. Re: Northumbria, it was King Aella, but the narrator pronounces it as Elle. I'm an avid Viking fan, and 9 is my favorite number. Lagertha is pronounced with the first syllable accented, not the second. But well done! I enjoyed the video, regardless!
Its Bishop Heahmund haircut for me
Welcome back To screen rant. I am going To overemphasize every single T thaT I say
you say that the fork did not exist, it is also wrong, lots of archeological excavations have been made where both forks and combs of wood were found, after the Vikings in their settlements
Buddy, you made so many mistakes yourself...
The number 9 is also everywhere in the Hávamál.
For example; Stanza 139: Odin's self sacrifice
I know I hung
On a windy tree
For *Nine* whole nights
Wounded by a spear
Dedicated to Odin
Myself to myself
Upon that tree
That no one knows
Which root it runs (Yggdrasil, world tree of Nine realms)
