I wish they would go ahead and implement these updates on console.. great video, great way of teaching, I know you put a lot of time and effort into these videos and it shows. Thank you
Fantastic demonstration! All of the existing tutorials are from before you could tweak maneuver nodes like this, and this shows perfectly how to utilize the new features.
I play on console, have been for like 7 years now... Been everywhere except Eeloo and the back from the surface of Eve.... Still always learning something from these tutorial videos. The Jool system is so much fun to play around in!!
My guess is the direct tajectory from Laythe took advantage of the orbital speed it already has around Jool. I did have my money on the Oberth Effect option being better, but perhaps thrusting perpendicular to Laythe's orbital speed first is too high a cost.
In the third option, I'm still leaving Laythe retrograde relative to Laythe's orbit. It may look perpendicular, but that's because the maneuver is several orbits in the future.
I hope you still check these messages…I’m curious why does your ejection angle have to line up with Jools when setting up your escape. Also after lining up your ejection angle with Jools and getting your periapsis to match Kerbins why is that the end of the story? I didn’t see any encounters with Kerbin. If Kerbin isn’t there won’t you just head right on back out. One last question, can you do this when orbiting Kerbin to set up encounters with the other planets and avoid having to wait for launch windows? Thank you for your informative videos. I appreciate they’re grounded and are truly made to help people grow and achieve things in this game. I’ve watched many other “tutorials” and they never get to the point…create things that no one could realistically make and at the end of the day just aren’t helpful. So I for one appreciate what you’ve done here.
I think you may be mixing up ejection angle with phase angle. The phase angle is about timing your encounter with Kerbin. Ejection angle is about minimizing the cost of the ejection. This video was about minimizing the cost, so I didn't care about intersecting Kerbin or ejecting at the right time. I get myself back to Kerbin in the next video and talk phase angle there (linked pinned in the comments). Let me know if I didn't answer the question you intended, or if my answer doesn't make sense.
@@MikeAben Thanks brother for the clarification. I truly appreciate you. I did watch the next video where you set up the Kerbin encounter…that cleared everything up.

You're welcome, and you have my sympathy. I didn't realize until I started making these just how different the versions were.
I am a console player too and I suffer without those updates, Ive heard they would come like a year after PC release
@@aerodynamickerbal I hope you're right.

Hey mike, wanted to let you know that me and a lot of people appreciate your quality video. Thanks a lot man!
You bet

I'm a little proud, that I figured out method #4 on my first Jool return Mission from a moon (it was Vall) without any research on how to do :D

My first thought when I heard KSP had an automatic maneuver creator was "Why?"
When it works, it's pretty handy.
It breaks the "4th Wall" a bit? I always felt that Maneuver Nodes were cheating. It is better than using a protractor though.
I bet using Tylo for gravity assist could make the burn even smaller
You're likely right, but they're a pain to set up.
Kerbal sacrifice
I dont use manuver tool, it is a piece of hot garbage, i just either wing it or use mechjeb
It's not so bad once you learn how to use it right. I'm sure mechjeb is better and easier though.
