Another fantastic video. You have a very relaxing teaching style that make subjects that first appear complex, to be nothing more than a series of simple steps. Watching your videos has made the game so much more enjoyable for me, keep up the good work.
I thought I was good at this game and was just enjoying listening, but matching a target orbit was something I could never get my head around until now. Thanks Mike, great explanations as always! 👍
I myself have spent hours trying to fulfill a contract directly over a certain location with satelite and given up. Your video here (and all the others) helps beginners excellent, thanks for that.
@@MikeAben Today I made it. The satellite is at the right position to the ground station. Unfortunately, I have only been able to use eyeballing to estimate. I have not found anything that tells me the right time for the maneuver. Just wait with Timewarp until it fits approximately. Then new maneuver and close the circle. The rest was fine tuning. Thanks again.
Glad I stumbled on this channel, Started playing around 4 days ago KSP, thanks to your tutorials managed to do Mun pass by, through 20 trials and errors. 😅 Thank you!
great video as always, cannot tell you how many times iv watched a video of someone going to another distant planet. and NEVER even saw this maneuver tool. Cant wait to use it
Wow, I wish I had known about the maneuver tool three years ago when I started playing. Excellent video all around, and thank you for selecting a difficult contract that covered a lot of scenarios also.
I noticed when you launched you were in a prograde parking orbit about Kerbin, but talked about being retrograde when transferring to the inner planets from Kerbin. I take it that the direction that you are orbiting Kerbin does not matter, and it is that you are burning retrograde to the orbit about the Sun that matters?
Question: I see next to navball 3 items; node time, start burn in, and burn time. I only have the two top and bottom, no start burn in. Wondering why? I have tracking building and most buildings at fully upgraded, my pilots are 2-star.
What was the video that came before this? You refer to it when saying the previous mission gave you a lot of science, but I can't see it linked. Also, the first off world base mission I've been given is to put an outpost on eve... And I haven't even landed on Mun or Minmus. This whole time I've thought it's cos the game expects landing on Eve to be fairly easy. I'm really realising that it's not, at all 😂
The previous mission was over a couple of videos involving a base and rover on Minmus. There's a link to the whole playlist in the description. Yeah, many of the contracts come in a nonsensical order. You have to be selective with them.
@@MikeAben Thank you again :) I'm gonna have to go dump the contract, but seeing how much it was gonna give me for completion, I'm dreading the costs of failure! I'll have to look into that set of videos, unfortunately I'm missing a few sources of science due to being on console so I'm eternally playing a game of catch-up, and always having to pick which tech I want to prioritise first.
The maneuver tool is limited and only works when your orbit is close to circular and equatorial. You either have to adjust your orbit with further burns or attempt the transfer without using the maneuver tool.
Also, if only one antenna is used, and its always the best antenna on the vessel, why have multiple antennas? Does the facing of the antenna matter? I can never tell with this game 😅
Only one antenna is used in determining transmission speed, but all the antennas are used to determine the strength of the connection. Without multiple antennas, you may not have a connection at all. Also, the strength of the connection determines the science bonus when transmitting. No, it doesn't matter which way the antennas are facing.
Oooh, that's really helpful! I had been wondering what the game meant when it said they were combinable. I wasn't sure if it meant as a chain of antennas (like one on ground, one in orbit, one near the mun) or something. Thank you!

After finally starting playing KSP 2 weeks ago, this video is what helped me get to Eve! Thanks so much, lovely video
Fun one, thanks Mike! Always good to see a transfer to an inner planet instead of an outer one!
Eve is a great first interplanetary target.

Thanks. Yeah, moving a satellite to a different location in an orbit is not intuitive.

Dude the five way symmetry trick was genius! I am calling it the Mike Aben Five Point Symmetrical Tank technique from now on (Kill Bill reference)
Thanks, by certainly didn't come up with it.
Thanks for showing me the maneuver tool that is built in the game I never would of known lol 😅❤

It is a relatively recent addition that wasn't available a couple of years ago.
Watched all the contract guide just for 2 days, now im pretty sure i can do all the contract easily by your guide, thanks Mike!
You are very welcome. Good luck.
Wow, I just discovered this channel and it's truly amazing
Welcome aboard!

I don't think it existed three years ago.
Hey I just wanna let you know that I watched the orbit tutorial and today I finally made it to orbit 🎉
Awesome.
great video thanks for the info
i never knew this tool existed in game... holy crap.

You need it on in the settings. I believe it's called Extended Burn Time.
Another fantastic video Mike. How on earth did you work out that 5 way symmetry trick!
As with all the best tricks, I learned it from someone else.
ahh missed premier

Hi, when a tried to use my maneuver tool, it's saying that my orbital eccentricity is too high. How can I fix that?
The maneuver tool is limited and only works when your orbit is close to circular and equatorial. You either have to adjust your orbit with further burns or attempt the transfer without using the maneuver tool.
yes 133.3 x 10 = 1333ec, But you have two antennas? Wouldn't you need twice that, or 2666ec?
You would think, but no. It only uses the fastest antenna when transmitting. Multiple antennas only factor into what the signal strength is.
Good to know. Thanks@@MikeAben

Can anyone help? I don't have manouver tool on my xbox series verion??
Have you upgraded mission control and the tracking station?
Thank you for answer, yes it’s fully upgraded. BTW your videos are fantastic! Thank you.
@@MikeAben i upgraded everything, only reseach and hangar lvl2 left.
@@ThePsioch The only other thing I can think of is if you don't have a pilot and don't have a communication link on the vehicle.
@@MikeAbenok i will check that. Thank you soo much for help
