I just received my father's old watch which had been in storage since he was killed in an accident in 1987. It was his everyday watch that was scratched and beaten up and didn't work. My Aunt took it to a very reputable watch maker to get repaired and he told her that it was a "Pogue" and quiet a collectable watch and the story behind it. Anyway paid the to get it restored, and I'm stoked with the look of the watch and the sentimental value of it being my fathers. Didn't know Dad had such good taste for watches! Thanks for the great video.
@@time_to_lume232 it was my first watch also…….now its still in my collection as fun little piece that helps me remember that horology doesnt need to be taken so seriously 😃
I still really want one but getting one in original condition seems particularly hard. It seems to be one of the most frankenwatched watches out there 😮
Oh its crazy to find a fully OG Pogue. But if you can find one that's got only a few refurbished parts that are close to the original, they really are fantastic!
This watch was gifted to me by my stepfather this last Christmas 🎄. He never wore it, as just the dial was gifted to him back in the 80’s by a co worker. I’m excited to get a band for it and start wearing ❤️
I have an eight inch wrist, so finding a bracelet or strap that will fit me is sometimes challenging. If it's an odd lug width, it's nigh impossible. I laughed through my pain at your comment about Seiko watching the world burn. Thanks for another great video. 🤣
Haha you have the same problem as me then, only the other way around! 😂 Ahhh they do love to make life difficult with their lug widths! Thanks so much for watching!
Where is the love button!! Love your presentation style and of course love the watch (I have one myself). Under Specs you probably should have gone over case size, water resistance and the operation of the chronograph function and mention the 30 minute timer. Love how you showed the lume being lit up by a torch. May I say that the Pogue looks great on you - you wear it well! 🙂
6139 was also the first *production* automatic chronograph, and it had better water resistance than the Speedy. I forget the total number of iterations cases and dials that housed the 6139, and that is only the start of Seiko's automatic chronos! 6138, 7016, and 7018 all saw upgrades over the 6139! It's a shame that Seiko walked away from these revolutionary movements. The 6R88 isn't the same and the closest they have come to an affordable chrono are some of the Daytona-esque solar watches.
My uncle gifted me a Seiko Pogue in 1976. I wore it until 2001 when it stopped working. It is sitting in a drawer waiting for the finances to repair it.
one of my first watches from i believe it was in 77 i got it at Zayers in Saugus Ma for $110.lost for about 25 years until i went thru some old boxes in moms basement this thing has never been serviced and still keeps great time its an oldie but goodie
Love the Pogue and love the content and style you bring! I’m like you too- love the Pogue now, but had to warm up to the slightly funky 70s case shape (:
I absolutely love the Seiko Pogue but, only this gold dial version. I find the blue one a bit ordinary. I have been searching for an authentic vintage gold dialed 6139 but, they seem to be hard to find as there are a LOT of redials, damaged bezels and ones without bracelets. I may just have to settle for second best? The prices are going up and up too. A great video here Lucy. Loving the vintage theme. Looking forward to the next one. Ta Ta for now. ✊
I haven't found a connection to the Blue one either. Maybe the yellow is just too bright compared to it! A full original one is super hard to get hold of sadly. Good luck in the search though! I guess the bracelet is something that can we purchased after? The main part is the watch! Thanks so much for watching 🥰
What I'm starting to conclude is that any chronograph with tachymeter and metal bracelet can be consider an alternative to the moonwatch...especially if in black 🙃
Haha well maybe. But at least this one also has a space connection! I mean..it was worn at the same time! 😂 But I totally get what you mean! Do you have a favourite alternative?
Love the Pogue. The orange ones in VG condition are pricey because that's the one Pogue himself wore, but there were also blue and silver dial variants which are usually less. Can you imagine though if Seiko did a Pogue re-release? Fucking hell, it would be bedlam on here.
if i am not mistaken , yellow / golden dial pogue in good condition is very very difficult to find, especially at affordable pricing. many have bezel totally worn off and much discoloured
Definitely my favorite chronograph ( nice Zodiac as well btw ). Take your chance when you love something and can afford it, because it significantly got up in price since I've discovered it. The issue to me is that i'd be worried about the service. But you know, if we ever get a reissue, it will cost something like 2K anyway 😅
@The Watch Box Diaries yes I'm checking them out on ebay. I'm finding ones in really good condition at around $800 so now I know why your not allowed to wear his when drinking lol. That was a funny story. I love your channel!
You will find that some parts have been replaced over time, but depending on how well they've been done, you can find some really good options! Haha yeahhh... totally understandable 😂🙈
Besides their NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster chronographs, both Skylab-4 astronauts, Gerald "Jerry" Carr (Movado Datachron HS-360 automatic) and William "Bill" Pogue (Seiko 6139-6005) wore an automatic chronograph in space during their 84 days long SL-4 spaceflight mission. The correct space-flown SEIKO needs to have " Water 70m Resist" on the dial. #MoonwatchUniverse 🧐
another seiko that just gives pure watch wow. I love watches my only nice piece is a 7002-7000 but its kind of boring compared to a pogue. The only thing that comes close is bruce lee Seiko 6139-6010 another loverly watch. Seiko is a proud mans watch and will always be up there with the swiss.
@@TheWatchBoxDiaries replacement bezel inserts are also available on ebay etc if you want to replace the one you scratched, a good resource on Seiko here on youtube are Klein Vintage watch and The Blair watch project, they know thier stuff and are very approachable for info.
I'm sorry to say, but the watch shown is clearly a frankenwatch. The only original part is the case (if lucky). Everything else is aftermarket parts. Sad, but true. 🤔
Hey! I'm aware things have been replaced on this and it's not original. They're hard to find! But I can appreciate it still and appreciate the design of the OG! 👌
The 60 second thing wasn't entirely unique, other channels do/have done but I appreciate the feedback! I enjoy doing the longer reviews as I get more info in. And I love talking about watches 😊
So do I; don’t we all? #justsaying , you did it best. #livestream to ramble; create a brand. #unique #doitbest ok, I am overstepping the mark. Apologies. You be you. Happy watch hunting.

I love my Pogue. Especially since it was my fathers.
A great watch made even better by it being sentimental. This is why I love the idea of passing them down!❤️
I love this watch I’ve had mine since I was 19, I’m 66 now. Just had it revidiert here in Germany, wonderful watch
Love the Pogue! It’s my favorite vintage Seiko to this day. Loved this video and appreciate your thoughts! 👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
It is iconic for sure! I can see why it's your favourite. Hope I did it justice! 😍🚀⌚️
Seiko has to be the most versatile watch brand ever……..from the $50 SNK809 to the thousand dollars CREDOR and anything inbetween 🙌🏻. Great review 👌🏻
They cover ever part of the market imo. Might be a good video actually, thanks 😂 love Credor!
Thanks so much for tuning in!
The SNK809 is a brilliant watch! It was my first purchase when I started down the rabbit hole 😁

Love this watch! ☀️ Great video Lucy, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Proper summer piece full of history! Thanks for tuning in! 🥳
Big watch for the period. Must’ve been thought of as a freak! Maybe the most 70’s looking watch ever made.
Haha you can literally hear the 70s TV music that plays in the background while you wear it!
😂 if the 70s was a watch, it would 100% be this!
Awesome piece! Love the review Lucy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Yeah! The blue ones are cool but not quite the same vibe. And the OG dial is gorgeous which helps! 😍
Haha I thought the same about a reissue 😂
My Pogue was actually given to an employee of an aerospace company (engraved on the back), which I though was a cool little "space" connection.

On reorder but I'm still hping we get a reissue of the original. Don't even mind if it's quartz.
Sturmanskie made the first watch in Space......and Omega/Tissots 1481 had a push date change, again in the 70's.
Thank you! I knew it began with an 'S' 😂
Oohh awesome! Isn't it such an unusual way of setting the day and date? I like it more because of that!
I have a 69 Omega Geneve that has a movement you have to push in the crown to set the date.
Oh wow! Such an unique and interesting way of doing things! 😍
