    Great series, Tom! Thank you so much on behalf of all of us for talking the time to produce such hugely informative, professional grade, useful, and enjoyable instructional episodes like the ones covering the IC-7300. Learning a lot and every video earns and gets a like from me. Thank you again!

    Thanks Tom! I 'discovered' 10M repeaters while listening to an ARRL podcast yesterday and wanted to explore it more with my 7300. I tried the manual first which was a non-starter so did a RUclips search and found your video. Just what the doctor ordered! 73's , Bill KG6DZ

    I have just watched a couple of videos. They have been very useful and I'm impressed with the level of detail to go into without making it needlessly long. I shall definitely be watching more of your video on the 7300, they're so helpful. 73 Nigel G8AYC.

    So glad I finally got around to watching this video in your extensive series of IC-7300 videos. I never thought about checking FM repeaters on 6 and 10 meters. Found a few in Oregon but none within my range on 6m but found one on 10m that works fine. Thanks!

    Thank you for explaining and showing this process. I have yet to do any repeater work on my 7300. But with the band openings on 10 m l lately, I've been wanting to connect to some of these repeaters I've been hearing on the East Coast and I believe the West Coast too. I think that you created the best videos in this series of videos for the 7300 and I just wanted to say thank you. I'm legally blind and your descriptions and detail help as much as the actual great videos in helping me understand what's being described. So thanks once again! Brian in Fort Worth KI5FLE

      Hi Brian. Thank you for reaching out and thank you for the kind words. Since RUclips is a visual medium I had not really thought about my videos helping anyone who is blind or sight impaired. I'm glad to know that you find them useful. I will also try to keep that in mind in my narrations for future videos. 73, Tom

    Hi.
    If we do not have any 6m repeater to play with, we can use another 6m rig or HT. Put it on 'reverse' duplex mode, where the RX/TX freq are reversed, to simulate the repeater.
    Thank you.

    First THANK YOU for your hard work on this. I am on my 2nd time through it. Some of us are slow learners. I am going to see if I can post your videos on our club web page so others can find your videos. We are having a FEMA thing next weekend and I am trying to get everything set up the best I can. If I understand wright I can set the 6 M repeater north of me with one offset, and the one south of me with a different offset, and put them in memary.

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  Год назад

      Hi Don. Thank you for the kind words. Yes. The memories store the offset as one piece of information. So you can have different offsets for different memory channels on the same band.

    Hi Tom, must say I am enjoying your videos on the 7300, but I agree with the other comment about the things round the cat's neck. I think she would be much happier without them round her neck and one other comment is that I would cut down all the ham I think she is getting as she looks like a really heavy cat! Keep up the good work. .........Mike G4HLT.

    Sooo helpful; perhaps I missed it, but is there a segment that shows recording and playback functions so another ham can hear his audio?

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  3 года назад

      Hi Joe. Unfortunately, the voice record function on the 7300 doesn't provide any direct way to do this. You can play back the audio and listen to it on the radio, but there is no option to transmit the recorded audio. I did just recently see a hack to work around this. I apologize, but I can't recall who the RUclipsr was that posted the video. The hack involves taking the SD card from the radio to your PC. Then you copy the recorded audio from the Voice folder to the VoiceTx folder and rename the file to "voicetxN.wav" where N is a number from 1-8. Then put the SD card back into the 7300 and select the Voice option from the Menu. Then just select the appropriate number and the radio will think the file is audio you recorded and transmit it. It's a little bit kludgy, but it appears to work.

    • @joeowen1429
      @joeowen1429 3 года назад

      @@HamRadioA2Z Yes - kludgy, but I'll give it a go. Thank you. Joe - K4HEW

    • @joeowen1429
      @joeowen1429 3 года назад

      Well all worked well until after I renamed T1 to my recorded sound file - that worked. Since I had just downloaded the V. 1.4 firmware update from Icom, I believe something changed. Upon selecting the Voice Menu, I touched "T1" and nothing happened at all. There are "REC/SET" and "TX LEVEL" options at the right side of the Voice Menu now. I'll have to study what they do.

    My 7300 does not have the tone function. It has COMP in the same area. Where is the tone function in this configuration?

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  2 года назад +1

      Hi. You will see COMP (Compressor) in that position if the radio is in SSB mode. You have to switch the mode to FM first. Then you see TONE in that same position.

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  3 года назад +1

      Your mode has to be FM to see the TONE option. If you're in any other mode, that same soft button is COMP (Compressor).

    So when you power on the Icom 7300 does the tune light come on? Mine doesn't not, but I am running an external tuner.

    • @CornerstoneBaptistChurchOR
      @CornerstoneBaptistChurchOR 4 года назад

      I have to turn it on

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  4 года назад

      When you first power on the radio, it has no way of knowing if you’ve changed antennas, moved the radio to a new location or anything else since it was turned off. So, it assumes it isn’t tuned either with the internal or an external antenna. So you need to initiate one tuning cycle for it to show tuned again.

    I heard 10 meter repeaters do not re transmit the tone on the receiving frequency. Is this true?

    • @HamRadioA2Z
      @HamRadioA2Z  4 года назад

      It would be up to each repeater operator. I know of no reason that they couldn’t. I’m afraid I don’t know enough about standard conventions on 10 meter repeaters to say for sure.
