The voice acting for this ghost is awesome.
It is. It's pretty creepy actually how authentic it sounds. When they put such work into a ghost that you may never even find or see in game, you know that it's a good game.

@@cameronb7161 I mostly hear/see her appearing on foggy nights around 12-4am. She also only seems to appear once every two days, so once you see her you have to wait two days before she shows up again. It's also the top of the swamp area that she seems to reside in by the shack near the river. That's the best chance I can give you at seeing her based on my experience

There is also a random camp event where you can hear Swanson yelling to Tilly about seeing ghosts in the swamp, claiming it was a young woman. Tilly dismisses him as crazy, but it turns out he probably saw the ghost of this woman.

"He looks just like you" and "I gave everything to you" and "nobody will have me now" are very strong evidence that the woman got pregnant and had a son; other quotes imply that the girl was betrothed and broke it off for a dalliance with the hillbilly, who then rejected her after she slept with him. She then couldn't find a 'suitable' husband, since she was 'ruined' by losing her virginity and having a child out of wedlock.

The swamp is beautiful during the day, terrifying at night and as someone who grew up down south US, I can tell you that Rockstar did a really good job of capturing how swamps are in real life.
Even though im also a southerner, more around Appalachian mountains, I had the fortune to visit some of these swamps back when the game came out and got to say it honestly was quite beautiful. The smell is definitely something I can’t forget
The idea that the ghost passes on after you hear her tale and see her fate is... Uplifting. It sounds awful to relive those moments forever. It's good that she finds peace

I think it's strange how she died in September 1883, the same time that the Pleasance villagers were all killed. Maybe Agnes went on a mad rampage in that town before killing herself later. It's possible that's where her lover was from, or his new girl, and she took her revenge on the whole town before killing herself in remorse.
Seems pretty hard to kill an entire town without help.

You can find Agnes' grave at the Shady Belle estate. She and her family were the ones who originally lived there. She fell in love with a young man and became pregnant with his child, but the relation went downwards as the man got cold feet when he became a father just except for what Agnes' parents thought about the whole story. Agnes' father and her boyfriend murdered each other when the father searched him up for claiming vengeance on him for having seduced her and then abandoning her and tried to kill him despite the fact that Agnes had forgiven him herself. Her father was killed himself and then she commited suicide due to the grief and remorse. The tombstone even says that she caused a lot of people's death.

The fact that you didn't take "He looks just like you" as the obvious YOUR SON LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU, is mind boggling. She clearly said she's been ruined, no one else will have her. Why wouldn't anyone else have a 19 yr old woman in that time? BECAUSE SHE'S NO LONGER A VIRGIN AND SHE'S SHOWING IT! Girls in that time (and of that status) could get away with sexual acts and claim virginity to the man they married, were they lucky. What they COULDN'T do is hide an obvious pregnancy. The hillbilly got her pregnant, her parents were likely pissed at the fact that he was not only poor, but was stepping out on his responsibilities to her and their unborn or born child.
Not to mention, if the man expressed distaste for the child (clearly, since he was skipping out on the responsibility), then her obsessive love for him would have caused her to abandon or kill the baby FOR HIM, "I left him for you". Which would then explain the markings on her tombstone about how she took her life AND others.
She wasn't talking to us until that last night.

YEP, this is the most accurate analysis thus far.
This is the correct interpretation. I was flabbergasted when he didn't put those obvious things together ("He looks just like you" and "I gave you everything I had ... no one will have me now.").
Also, I think the "I love you" wasn't directed at the player at all, it was her last words in life. Listen to the voice, that's not relief or pleasure, that's anguish and distress. It's a completely different tenor to the immediately preceding lines when she addresses the player.

I think the developers left the lady slipper orchid as a final nail in the coffin, just to confirm what happened to her, as it’s very common in Japan for people to take their shoes off and put a suicide note in them before ending their life.Thus, that’s why it’s a *Lady Slipper* Orchid.
more likely, it's related to that fact that it is common for people who hang themselves to screw it up and rather than snapping their neck, instead manage to just dangle there, kicking and thrashing until they (finally) die, losing their shoes in the process. Seeing as how this game does not take place anywhere NEAR Japan, nor was it developed by a Japanese developer.

On my first playthrough of the game I steered clear of the Bayou like crazy at night because I knew of the ghost. One time I got caught out there at night and while wandering I started hearing her talking, while it was sometime in the mid-morning with everyone in my home asleep and my lights all off and have never moved so fast to gtfo of anywhere in my entire life. This may be fictional, but it is absolutely horrifying and I want NOTHING do to with it.
It's definitely unnerving. Hearing my older bro walking around upstairs while I was watching this video made me paranoid as Hell.

Thought the"And Others" from Agnes Dowd's headstone meant the dead people from Pleasance. But when i watched the video again, she died on the 4th and the people of Pleasance were massacred on the 17th (based on some of the headstones).

I want to talk about the gravestone from 1864 that says "he loved all men equally"
I think we have a union veteran which is interesting
Here's my interpretation of events:
Agnes fell in love with a man from a nearby rural town (Pleasance, Lagras, or possibly even Lakay, based on location). They had probably been seeing each other for a little while when Agnes' parents found out. They obviously disapproved of their daughter being involved with someone of significantly lower wealth than they were, and fought with Agnes to leave him. Agnes' mother is implied to have called him "Hillbilly white trash" (or something like that), Which you can hear Agnes say in one of her encounters. Despite their disapproval, the two continued to meet in secret under the tree that Agnes hung herself from (whether they had met there from the beginning, or only after Agnes' parents found out I don't know). The lovers continued to become more and more intimate until Agnes became pregnant. Agnes told the man this news one night during one of their secret meetings, and sensing he was in danger from the wrath of Agnes' father, or just not wanting to care a child, he broke up with her on the spot. Agnes' started to yell at him, filled with anger and sadness, saying things like "I gave everything to you", "You ruined me", and "Nobody else will have me now", implying that because she was very obviously not a virgin and still young, nobody else would want to date her. After an unknown amount of time she eventually forgave him, and would call out for him at their tree, which matches up with her dialogue at the beginning of the video. Either before or after she forgave him, Agnes gave birth to their son. After several nights of her lover not returning to their tree, Agnes either abandoned, or killed her newborn and set off to her lover's house. When she got there she told him about their son ("he looks just like you") and told him what she had done and that she forgave him ("I have always loved you"), only to find out that he was now involved with another woman. She their either out of anger, or an attempt to convince him to leave her, told him that the new woman never truly loved him like she did. At some point during this Agnes' father showed up, likely having followed Agnes. He was angry that this man had ruined his daughter for anyone else, and now their son (the only thing that would have been a positive from their relationship) was now gone. Agnes tried to calm her father down by telling him to put the gun down for his little girl. Her attempts were unsuccessful and her father shot her ex lover before dragging her back to Shady Belle. Then on September 4th, 1883 (could have been the same night as the previous events) Agnes broke down and murdered her parents before hanging herself from the meeting tree. She was likely talking to her ex lover's spirit before she committed suicide, her last words being "I love you" before she died. Her spirit was probably then trapped in a sort of purgatory until the player comes along, due to all of the unsorted emotions preventing it from fully 'passing on'. She likely notices the player whenever you encounter her, but doesn't acknowledge you until you see her for the last time. I'm not completely sure about how much sense this makes, but she was probably able to sort out her feelings by having someone whiteness her story (Kind of like ghost therapy I guess?). In the final encounter with her, she speaks to the player for the first time, letting us know she knew we were there the whole time, and in a way thanking us for listening by inviting us to watch her peacefully pass on, poetically repeating the words she said right before she died.

She was having an affair with married man and had a child by him.
He promised to leave his wife, but ended up not.
That's why she says "I gave you everything! No one will have me now!"
That's because she can't be married with that kind of scandal.

I think the weeping swamp lady is the night folk using the legend of this ghost to lure people in.
I feel as if perhaps instead her father had attempted to kill her lover finally and she had killed her father and mother in the spur of the moment in defense of her lover. Upon telling her lover, he revealed himself as a monster and left her, so she committed suicide. Possible also that she may have been pregnant and abandoned the child with her parent's corpses to start anew and finally feel that she was separate from their lineage.

I love watching videos of RDR2 even still today , you never know what you might find that someone from other channels didn’t post. This isn’t one of them but still very interesting.
It’s just awesome to think the people that put this game together just had a very deep imagination and seems like they put anything and everything in this game that crossed their minds. Anyway , even after one year this game is still awesome to me. Not sure what everyone else thinks about it but to me I still love playing the story mode.

Oddly enough I found the Shady Bell graves about a week ago but instead of running to camp interactions I actually walked over to read them. I had no idea about the ghost girl but still, the name Agnes Dowd stayed in my head. I don’t know why but something about her tombstone resonated with me. So, yeah, I was thinking about it her name the whole time before you brought her up.
I really liked all the gravestone writs in RDR. The cemeteries from the west of the map are basically remastered but it’s rare to find new graves with unique writing on them.
The ghost isn't addressing you directly in the last encounter. She's reading from a suicide note referring to her lover as "stranger".
Nah I doubt that. The fact that her voice was very calm and composed as opposed to the usually distraught one she spoke with before and the fact that she says, "I know you've been watching me" and the fact that she doesn't vanish until you actually get near her, it seems more like she was speaking to you.
That makes no sense. How is she reading a suicide note if there’s nothing there besides a slipper when she disappears?

I copied this from something I said elsewhere in the comment section by the way. So if you even read this. It may not make much sense since some things may be cliped.
Anyways, She was saying things like “come to **Our** Tree” instead of “Come to **The** tree). “Come meet me in the swamps by our tree.” Which sounds like she’s talking to someone who wasn’t in the swamp at the time. If she was talking to us, the player, why would she say that? We are already in the swamp and by said tree. Then in her last breath or sentence. She tells her boyfriend “I love you”.
I think she was trying to make her “boyfriend” or whoever this guy was to go to the tree and see her hanging from it. Perhaps to make him suffer or see how much pain and misery she went through because of him. Her love drove her mad and made her take her life. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I’ve read another comment (Zepps88) which at first I didn’t believe about this being a suicide letter, but looking back at what she says it makes sense. The “stranger” isn’t us, it’s the guy she thought she knew and loved. Someone who she became estranged and jaded to.

That truly is unsettling when the Ghost acknowledges the player. I’m not gonna lie, when you were walking up to her for the last time when she invites John or Arthur over… a part of me was expecting some type of jump scare where her ghost attacks you and kills John or Arthur in a single hit. But I’m glad that didn’t happen. But seeing a ghost reliving their suicide is both creepy and heartbreaking.
I have personally seen her and got that creepie "come closer" dialogue on my second encounter it may be because I made her disappear a few times a little off topic I saw a ghost heron by the abandon swamp house behind shady belle hideout I wasn't seeing things I know for sure because it was glowing white and that reflected off the water as it flew away.
I thought I heard something when I passed through that area on my first playthrough. I went to investigate but no one was there. I assumed she got eaten by a crocodile. Knowing it was a ghost now. 😳 Trippy. Lol

Yes, the ghostly image will disappear if you see it from afar and try to walk to it.
However in my case, I didn't see the ghost anywhere and decided to hunt instead.. I was just out there at night hunting gators and when I was in the middle of skinning one and finished, I heard a voice and she magically appeared right next to me for a couple of seconds and disappeared.

You can get a better Angle on looking at her from across the river over the wooden bridge. She will still appear if she senses you from that side and you don't have to worry about alligators from there. And when she disappears she'll spook your horse , Same as the Ghost Train so be prepared.
There is a tombstone in lagras, which has The name martha written on it and theres a picture of a woman, it seems like people are sacrificing thinks to her beacuse there was some alcohol and an apple besides the grave also the grave is decorated with flowers

13:30 it is absolutely worth mentioning as lady slipper orchids are typically only found in west Elizabeth. As it says in the description "This type of orchid can be seen growing in the grounds of the forests, meadows and woodland areas like the Big Valley and Tall Trees area of West Elizabeth." They don't grow in the swamp.
