Goats are also historically looked upon as an animal that represents evil. I would be interested to see if the goats in Butcher’s Creek are the only goats who will eat a dead corpse. It could help confirm that an evil spirit has taken control of the village.

damn, the story of butcher creek is so sad. it's yet another fascinating detail of things that actually went on in american history. rural towns, the first white settlers in most of the west/midwest, would have similar situations and be killed off or abandoned because a company or group was mining or excavating around it, knowing they'd poison the water sources, and make up stuff like this. this is later in history though, this sort of stuff would happen in the earliest days of america- late 1700s early 1800s, and briefly springing back up during the gold rush in the 1850s. but by the late 19th and early 20th century, most people knew about poisons and how to detect them, thanks to poison becoming widely commercially available to fight pests. however butcher's creek is specifically rural, very tight knit and doesn't get much traffic through the area from others, because roanoke ridge is usually avoided by travelers, thanks to the murfree brood and it's rather rough and unfriendly looks. which makes believing all the crap that guy was telling them a bit more realistic. until arthur/john came, some of them have probably never spoken to or even seen someone from outside butcher's creek. that was pretty common in very rural towns/settlements, far enough away from a main road. also, the people's drastic body growths are caused by a combination of mercury, arsenic and cyanide poisoning. plus inbreeding i guess, but it would never be that extreme without the poison ingestion. i hate to go up into roanoke ridge/annesburg/van horn, it's just such a cold, bleak, dangerous area that feels far away from everything, it takes longer to ride through it because of the windy paths, plus it's pretty boring.
Thats SO weird.. My character looks EXACTLY like me....(scratches arm.... swats an invisible bird away from face).. ARGHH!!Sorry I thought I saw a dolphin on my keyboard..

Here is my theory: Since the people believed the town was cursed by demons, they tried to do some ritual/sacrifice to contact or “please” the demons so they would stop harming the people.
@Amber Radebaugh I was thinking it was more of a Manhunt reference as Manhunt was a game that Rockstar also made, and Rockstar already has so many references to their other games in RDR2, such as the phrase "Canis Canem Edit" (The name of the UK release of Bully) on Jim Calloway's Revolver
It’s Obadiah Hinton. He insists on a curse despite all evidence to the contrary and he says something to the effect of “darkness be with you!” When you first meet him.
“Can anyone help me out? I figured that the guy who is near butchers creek in chapter 6 (stranger mission) under a bridge talking about voices and the darkness and obediah, could be of some significance, so when I first found him, instead of going to the checkpoint, I took him to the house with pentagram. I entered with him on my shoulders and he had been done mumbling for a while.. but when I entered, he literally only said one word: ;devil! And the pentagram was already glowing when I got there!! Is this normal and has anyone heard him say just that word? Hopefully someone can help me out with this one!!”
The Strange Man may have cursed Butchers Creek. BUUUT the curse may have expired and the villagers have no idea. The pentogram may have been a way to activate the curse.
The first time I ran into that women from Butcher Creek, I was positive I was going to get ambushed. I missed most of her dialog, watching for an ambush. I only realized the truth when she mentioned Butcher's Creek.
Has anyone tried sacrificing an innocent person on the pentagram? I’ve seen people try to sacrifice the vampire and the cave devil. But never an innocent person, like a random woman.
The hours between 3am and 5am are considered to be the "midnight of the soul". More people die between these hours than any other time. Even hospitals and hospice recognize this phenomenon. People wake at 3pm sometimes because bile is cleaning out the liver. Same with people with adrenal fatigue. Also the time when ghost hunters record the most frequent activity. The indian and the mining company want the the mine that the poison runs through. It also contains the ancient indian arrow that has to do with the buffalo diagram of dreamcatchers which are similar to the 13 charms the indian put up around butchers creek. There are also 5 outhouses there. Maybe something needs to be done so the pentagram doesn't appear anymore between 4 to 5 am for the task to be completed. Nearby the man made mutant house has 4 or 5 experimental notes and is also a taxidermist like the squirrel lady that has you collect bones rather than dreamcatchers. When i was at that house i found 2 coyotes on the roof. I then went to butcher's creek and found coyotes at the butchers location along with foxes and rabbits. I also found 8 skulls under the house with a lot of bones on the roof at butchers creek. I think all these items can be put together to be used for the pentagram not to appear anymore for the task to be completed.
I think it’s funny that so many think the “pentagram” is an evil thing, when all it is is the path the star Venus takes every 8 years. Like it was a pagan celebration (technically Roman and someone else before them) and then turned evil and it’s just humorous to me when people see a pentagram and scream evil when it’s not at all lol 😂 like it’s a just a constellation for a lack of a better term
Yeah it's pretty hilarious looking at European religious history and finding out all of the rather mundane things the Roman Catholic Church made out to be heinously evil due to their origins in anything other than Christianity. There's still a widespread conception that anything pagan is inherently demonic, which isn't technically the case, it's just different, and historically the church has made people believe that anything different is the Devil.
Most pagan religions aren't necessarily evil but the gods they worshipped had some evil modus operandi that connect them to demons or fallen angels (read about the Nephilim). And the pentagram is an evil symbol only when the head of it is upside down, when is facing straight up is actually an hebrew talisman shield like which protects against evil entities and alike who represents the Tetragrammaton or God's name formed by 4 consonants (YHWH). Also it does symbolize the Venus planet or the morning star which also happens to be the angelical name of Satan.

Butcher creek does! so they figured she was cursed and dutch actually helps you out in this. And shes in a outhouse which is all of a sudden pointed in the direction of butcher creek. She counts to 5 and shes in a outhouse. You go to butcher creek and there is 5 outhouses and they have numbers inside the outhouses. If you walk in the correct order going inside outhouses it makes a pentagram.
I like to think the guy who thinks he’s a demon in that cave made the pentagram under his house, and maybe that was his house in butchers creek, and so because of this he then feels guilty about it and he thinks himself now a demon
The mining company isn't trying to buy the land. They're trying to get them to sign a document saying they don't hold the company responsible for the arsenic poisoning in the village.
Well a pentagramm, depends on where you started to draw it and if its a normal or "reversed" pentagramm... a pentagramm isnt always something evil. in Medieval times they there drawn to banish demons. So maybe something tries to break out of there everyday at 4-5 am?:P

She counts to 5 and shes in a outhouse. You go to butcher creek and there is 5 outhouses and they have numbers inside the outhouses. If you walk in the correct order going inside outhouses it makes a pentagram.
The deformed man is a reference too a movie called deliverance
I like to think the guy who thinks he’s a demon in that cave made the pentagram under his house, and maybe that was his house in butchers creek, and so because of this he then feels guilty about it and he thinks himself now a demon
THE STRANGE MAN PUT IT UNDER THE SHACK
Obadiah’s little chime ins are my favorite character so underused.
Happy christmas to everyone who celebrate today
Too early dude
You came out of the cave too early
You can sleep back
@@The_StrangeMan oh no man orthodox celebrate christmas today
@@MIKIC1313 Ok....

Thank you for grinding out these videos, they are great
I was drinking water when you said f***ing goat and it came out my nose. Then proceeded to lmao. 10 out of 10 for pure randomness i find in this game.
"Even I'm not THAT insane" for some reason I feel attacked directly. (lol)
Gets me thinking.
BTW when you shoot the charm there is a a creepy wind blowing and music played.
I went on a massacre here. Not my fault, I thought it was a settlement of murfree broods. Lol
You might've heard this by now, but I'm pretty sure that it actually is. If anyone from the town sees you kill a murfree, they all aggro.
@@RedFlameGamer they are friendly broods tho
Just felt like resident evil 4 ganados encounter 💀
The mining company isn't trying to buy the land. They're trying to get them to sign a document saying they don't hold the company responsible for the arsenic poisoning in the village.
That intro made me wish I was in Dixie.
Underpayed Rockstar employee: tehehe imma put a pentagram in this shack
Nerds: 0:49
Well a pentagramm, depends on where you started to draw it and if its a normal or "reversed" pentagramm... a pentagramm isnt always something evil. in Medieval times they there drawn to banish demons. So maybe something tries to break out of there everyday at 4-5 am?:P
3:33 that's probably a reference to manhunt's piggsy
Maybe in a dlc that's supernatural you could play as a van helsing
Or for the red dead undead dlc to summon Arthur
Nah Rock* wouldn't do something like Van Helsing as a playable character
we need Gavin as a playable character
loving that you mentioned devon regarding inbread but not somerset ahah
Your from Devon... I live in torbay only just got the Internet to watch this (witch craft it is)
I'm from Exeter, I don't live in Devon anymore however.
@@Fizhy oof hello fellow Devonians XD i used to live in Teignmouth but now i live in Dawlish Warren.
@@Fizhy ayy i live in a town literally half an hour away from exeter. Devon bois
Devon, torbay? Only reason I know those places is because of a cartoon named. ARCHER.
Bruh I live near teignmouth
4:50 I thought it was some kind of Murfree brood trick so I said no and then got lowered honor
I could be wrong, but I believe that the pig mask is a reference to American Horror Story's Piggy Man
It’s Pigsy from manhunt. He’s made cameos in previous rockstar games.
I pretty sure that the toilets in butchers creek when connected with lines it makes a pentagram
I really gotta pay my RUclips Premium, because these ads are really starting to piss me off.
What the fuck is wrong with you? Just get adblock like a normal person.
"I dont think this place needs any introduction" *plays dixie on a banjo* lmao
Your videos r some of the best shit and idk y 😂😂
I r8 this
What if the guy who says the darkness is in him, ends up being the first infected in the area when the mask starts raising the dead, would be a good start to an un2 dlc (I've given up hope tho, just speculating). Maybe for the sake of the story, Arthur Morgan is alive and his un story takes place parallel to John's un story
i just wanted to tell you...
that im late at commenting on this video
"Wont even know Im here!"
*proceeds to talk NONSTOP*
fuckin goat!
1. The demon is Gavin
2. The demon is the goat
3. The demon is lumbago itself, bringing suffering to Uncle for his sins in Vietnam
WAIT YOU LIVE IN DEVON? LIKE ENGLAND? OMG IF SO I LIVE IN DEVON ASWELL. IN DAWLISH WARREN. XD
