This song will always have special meaning to me. This is the song that my husband was listening to Jan 30, 2012 when he passed away. He loved Darren so much. His passing was peaceful thanks to this man and I will always be grateful to Darren for that.
We had met Darren the day before this performance at a private meet and greet and met with him again after this performance. My husband talked about those meetings till the day he died. Darren is a very special man. I was able to share this story with him Aug 11, 2012 at this year's LeakyCon in Chicago. Fan for life. Less than three, Darren! Rest in peace, Jim.

Darren's home is with Starkid. It is so obvious that, although he loves Glee and his castmates, he will always love Starkid and fit in best there. He can be himself there. However, wherever Darren is happy, then I am happy because I love him and his song. Everytime I get sad, I listen to this and know I will always fit in with the Starkid fandom, and I feel happy.
When the person recording goes “Absolutely” I started cracking up lmao

That's amazing. I'm glad Hollywood hasn't changed him. He still remembers his fanboy days and is always a Starkid. Once a Starkid, always a Starkid. I hope you get to meet him again.
This is legitimately the most beautiful song I've heard. And this is probably the best performance of it
You can see Nick crying through the entire song. That shows how Darren will always have a home with Starkid wherever he goes.

Darren is the sweetest, most humble man I have ever met. He is truly grateful for each and every fan. He told me he wouldn't be where he is without all of us and he doesn't forget it for one single second. My husband and I had private meet and greets with him 7/15 and 7/16 at LeakyCon 2011, Oh, and he gives awesome hugs, by the way!

A few months ago I posted a comment on this video about not "having a home" and this song always making me cry. Well, it still makes me cry, but for a different reason: in the past few months things have gotten so much better. For the first time in the 2 1/2 years I've lived in my current town, I feel like I have true friends here and people that care about me. Now, they may have no clue who Starkid is ;) but it is a great feeling to finally know I "have a home" here. Just wanted to tell you. Thank you so much for your encouragement and for posting this video.
I am SO GLAD to hear things are going better for you! I know how it is to struggle and feel like no one cares or notices. I am coming up on the 2 year anniversary of my husband's death on Jan 30th. If not for this loving, caring man (DARREN), I don't know that I would be coping as well as I am. When I saw him June 14 at his Cleveland concert, he asked how I was coping since Jim's death. Remembered my name, remembered my husband's...and cared enough to ask how I was doing. And of course, his hugs were awesome! I believe in DARRENDIPITY and CRISSMET...that man has helped a tremendous number of people to cope with the bad things in their lives. We will always have a home in the circle of his love.

At the end, when they did the big group hug thing, the whole time I was just like: " OH MY GOD LOOK AT JOEY"
I started to cry the hardest when all his friends came and hugged him. Oh my goodness I am sobbing that was beautiful. Yet the whole time I kept thinking "oh it's going to suck if he forgets the words"

@LoserLikeme88 This was one of the most emotional performances of this song I have ever seen him do. And I've seen him perform several times. Several of us were kind of choked up in the audience. It was obvious how much he had missed his StarKid friends having moved to LA. At least Joey Richter is his roommate now so he's NOT ALONE. (sorry, couldn't resist!)
I think that everyone who sees this just cries. And then there's Joey and Nick crying in the background too. Ugh, so many feels.
My home is the one place where I can be with my real friends in multiple fandoms. Starkid and Darren is the fandom that makes me smile wherever I go. I'm the oddball at my school and family--when I'm with my favorite characters or listening to music, reading, etc. I feel like that is my home. Darren and Starkid are members of my big family that no one knows about.
This man is special and it is my mission to share him with as many people as possible in gratitude for his kindness to me and my late husband. And I will be seeing him again June 14 in Cleveland (deluxe VIP for his concert). I am bringing two of my friends who have never met him. Thank you for watching!

i don't know about anyone else but watching this i completely forgot where i was and thought i was back at leaky again. i don't think anything in my life will really be able to compare to that experience.
I always laughed at people who talk about famous people as though they know them. But watching Darren go from Little white lie and AVPM to glee and seeing where he is now is amazing. I see all the time where he picks a street in LA and just starts singing. He is someone who will never stop being shocked about how much his fans love him. I vow to myself I will meet him.

As amazingly perfect as this song is (and especially now that it speaks on so many other levels than just AVPS, what with Darren being on Glee now) I've got to say the most touching moment of this performance is the Starkid group hug. They'll always be friends forever.
I love everything about him. His triangular eyebrows, his curly hair, his stubble, his watch, his ears, his golden eyes that melt me melt, his incredibly white teeth, his grin that makes me giggle, his theatricality, his craziness, his jokes... need I say more???
This is so beautiful. After all the success he's had, for him to sing with so much emotion about his starkid "home" just goes to show what a family they are. What a family we all are, really. When you see his Glee fans drool over him and ship him with Chris, that's fine and all, but I just can't help but think that they dont understand him. But to see his friends hug him and the joy he gets from preforming with them... well, that's the real Darren right there, not just the hot holiwood persona.

This made me so sad... I used to have a home with the HP fandom, but... I don't know... me and my HP friends kind of drifted apart, and I just really miss that feeling... the feeling of having a home, no matter where you are...

God, that was sung so beautifully, and I agree with the comments that in the past couple of years his vocals have only gone from strength to strength- and just how wonderful that he knows, whatever happens in his career, he will always have his friends from university right there. Made me teary.
I so wish he would make a studio version of this song. I think I've worn out the replay button on AVPS Act 1 Scene 4 just to keep listening to this.
literally, every single time i watch him sing this song, i break down right at the very end when he starts singing "i've finally made it, i've hoped and i've waited". EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

@4lifeshaytards He does mean absolutely every word. He loves his fans. My hubby and I had the pleasure of talking with him 2 different days at LeakyCon. He is the 100% genuine article. This man is the sweetest, most humble, charming guy I have ever met. And so so thankful for his fans. My hubby and I were completely blown away by him. Remembered my name and called me by it the next day. And his hugs are awesome! We love him too. And the StarKids are great. We met them too! Fun group!

Not going to lie...the whole performance kills me. But Joey's face at the end is the icing on the cake. Darren performed this so beautifully. His emotions were shining so brightly throughout it. Then that face of Joey's...ugg. Crying now. Okay.

I don't know whether it's becuase he's on Glee and getting professional help with his singing or just his voice maturing, but it he does seem to have a much stronger voice compared to most video's I've seen of his (Which is a lot!).
I love how emotional he gets as well, it's good to see that the fame hasn't gone to his head and he knows his roots and will never forget them. This is why he is my favourite performer (And yes, I'm a lad!).

I love this performance of Home because the new trend seems to be to shout something at Darren after the line "a place where I'm wanted" and it annoys me to no end!!! I love the little "absolutely" said here cause it's how she felt but didn't feel the need to share it with the entire room. True Starkid fandom, appreciation AND respect!

this is one of the most beautiful songs i think ive ever heard. songs now are all about drugs and sex. not our darren, whos singing about being loved and having friends.i truely believe he means every word of this song. he now has 2 families that absoultly love him. he has his glee cast and he has his starkid cast and all of us. I truly love everything is man does and i think if i ever met him i would just burst into to tears and hug him. i wouldnt be able to contain myslef. i love him

@lilmaddieme Uh, that was me. I met Darren the day before at a private meet and greet; my husband and I were just so impressed with what a wonderful, sweet guy he is. For some reason, this performance of "To Have a Home just really got to me (alot of us were teary-eyed), I felt it, and I just said it. My mouth/brain filter was turned off. But the microphone wasn't. So you heard me say "ABSOLUTELY"! And the group hug at the end; totally awesome. Darren's friends love him and it shows!

Thank you J.K Rowling for giving us Harry Potter which then brought me to Darren Criss. I may have never thought twice about him if Starkid hadn't done the musicals
I'm sitting here crying right now. I moved to a new town 2 years ago and it's still difficult for me to call it home, so this song always makes me cry. I'm a little late to the Starkid party, but everything I see about these people and Darren in particular has been incredibly inspiring. I would love to meet them or see them perform someday.
