      You should react to Metallica's "Master of Puppets" Live from Seattle 1989😎 There's an intro in the before the go into the song with James Hetfield (Lead Singer), Kirk Hammet (Lead Guitar) & Jason Newstead (Bass Guitar) and the is an Amazing Tribute to Cliff Burton.... Cliff Burton was tragically killed on European Tour on September 27, 1986😢 There's another song you should check out, Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) Live from Chicago 1983 that's gonna Amaze You a Million Percent!!!! Just to answer your Future Question, Yes, That is a Bass Guitar😎🤘😎🤘😎

    Haha yes guitarists use picks. And we don’t get bruises, we get callouses on our fretting fingers. I have always used them same picks as Metallica. Dunlop .88 greens.

      Also with chugging on the top strings and palm muting we tend to choke up on the pick where you barely see it. Helps with tremolo picking too. Hetfield is a rhythm master. He can down pick pretty fast too. Where a string is picked in a. Down, up, down, up. Hetfield is playing. Down, down, down, down. Super fast. That's that 80s Thrash sound. Down chugging.

    Honestly, I'm not sure why people dog on Lars. Literally, almost every single modern metal drummer cites Lars as an influence. The guy is an absolute legend. I would say this band is one of the OG bands that created the foundation for metal as we know it today. My opinion, people are welcome to educate me if I'm wrong. It would be hard to refute and Lar's drumming is one of the reasons.

    • @terriblesamurai8850
      @terriblesamurai8850 4 года назад +3

      You're right. Lars was a huge influence, he proved everything that was needed, and I'm not only talking about drumming. 90% of Metallica are Lars and James. Production, writing songs etc. How he plays today and why he hasn't progressed much during the years is another story. When you compare him to let's say Danny Carey, there's nothing to compare. Danny is just a monster, BUT, Lars fits perfectly for Metallica. And without him, there would be no Metallica as we know it.

    • @nicolasvillamil7523
      @nicolasvillamil7523 4 года назад +1

      Influential =/= technical ability. He's not that great nowadays, but that doesn't warrant the hate he gets. I still love lars despite his decline

    • @Melodeath00
      @Melodeath00 4 года назад +1

      Nobody gives Lars shit for this performance (or anything he did in the 80s). He was also obviously a huge influence on every Metal drumming in general. Either as a direct influence on all the early Extreme Metal drummers from the late 80s and 90s, or an indirect influence, because all those Extreme Metal drummers (that Lars influnced), are the influence of the current generation of Metal drummers.
      They give him shit because it quickly went downhill from here after they achieved mainstream success (they were already the biggest Metal band by far at this point). Watch this, then go watch Monsters Of Rock Moscow, which was in 1991. He is already A LOT more sloppy and lazy at that point, and it gets much worse later.
      To Lars's credit, his live performances during the last couple of years, have been the best he has done since the 80s, so it seems he did actually start practicing again.

    • @lutherandross3165
      @lutherandross3165 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, but even during this show he had some slight timing issues, particularly when he comes out of his fills. It’s strange, through the meat of the songs he keeps a metronome rhythm, and then he’ll jack up a fill occasionally, and try to speed out of it. It’s much more noticeable nowadays, of course. But, I would not say Lars is the most technically sound drummer out there (even during his peak). Great writer/producer though, and is really the driving force behind Metallica’s success.

    love you van! Couple quick things: metallica does play with guitar picks (would be hard to play that fast either way, but without a pick, LOL) - and as to Kirk's hand falling off or bruising fingers - he started wearing a makeshift tape wrap on his right hand during shows to give additional muscle support because dude plays so hard and so fast. Pretty insane!

    Lars is hated because they went after Napster for stealing their music...which was the right thing to do. That's intelectual property, so the frat bros and metal heads got pissed they couldn't rip it off anymore. THE BEST thing about Lars is, every reaction channel on RUclips, where the hosts are African American have the same reaction "Y'all need to stop hating on Lars, dude can drum." And that's how you know it's real, the hosts are reacting purely off the listen and none of the BS. Thank you for appreciating him, his rap comes from Napster, not his music.
