I completely agree. Why is there so much negativity towards content creators who monetize their platform? RUclips is a demanding job, and creators deserve to be compensated for their hard work. We're not obligated to buy anything, but supporting creators we love is a great way to show appreciation and help them continue creating content.
Yeah that's right. There's no obligation, no one is forcing anything so I'm just as amazed as you. My guess is viewers has this assumption that channels with millions of subs gets a huge amount of money daily from RUclips ad revenue so they shouldn't be greedy. But the thing is, all businesses need multiple streams of income to sustain their business, relying solely on 1 egg in the basket is extremely dangerous. The very malicious over insistent pushy nature of advertisement pushed away the audiences about 1980, and it's only gotten worse from there....
Yeah I understand where you're coming from but I wouldn't assume that they are promoting a product for the sake of the sponsor without being a long time user themselves. Some do do that but not all do. You can see it is pretty obvious when a promotion is done by a content creator who aren't a user themselves. That being said, channels do need sponsors to increase revenue for their business, the sponsor do need quick sponsored videos to increase their sales and build up their business. To me, it is like a cycle. However, imo, we as the viewer are given option. If the entire video is a sponsored video and we don't like it, just skip the video, don't watch it. I don't see the need to waste my time on sending hateful comments. As you said, we are exposed to ads everywhere but it is up to us to believe what we want to believe, try what we want to try.
I don't know this guy who was speeding while potentially distracted in making a video but next time you see a quadriplegic struggling to manoeuvre his / her chair through an entrance way - consider that there is a high probability that the circumstance arose because of someone else's carelessness and / or irresponsible conduct. Anyone who would stake their whole livelihood on one behemoth corporation called Alphabet Inc. hopefully knows what they are doing and the risk they undertake.
for me, I wouldn't even be filming if I am behind a car and driving (I don't even look at my phone while driving). I didn't see that part of the video where this happened, it was already removed by the time I got to it but it sounds pretty serious.
Fortunately nothing happens but baffles me that this is sticking around for so long when there are bigger issues out there. It is starting to feel more like a personal attack imo.
I will say this once. The reason why most people or viewers hate to be sell things online is, they for some reasons feel like always getting snakes oilsman vibe. They feel like this guy just the same like everyone else online, trying to sell me something. Since nowdays, people will want everything for free if its possible. I thinks this is also due to world's increase in inflation and most people are already struggling financially. So when the youtubers even trying to make money out of them, they feel attack in someway, and call them greedy, even for if its a youtuber have gain they trust for a long time. It's really an unfair situation, and which is why its getting harder to sell stuff online to viewers. Skepticism Is On Another whole level and Viewers Only See Us As Snakes Oils Man, Con Or Scam Artist When RUclipsrs Trying To Sell Them Something. At the end of the day, Full Time RUclipsrs Are Just Trying To Pay The Bills Like Everyone Else Too.
So in a way, it is a reflection of themselves I guess? To be frank, people who wants things for free are probably not my target audience. Free is good but I have come to realise that those who get things for free generally do not worry about important things like commitment, learning, discipline, hard work. You get it for free, you don't lose anything hence no consequences and no action
There's this funny thing called fast forward. Lol I don't like the ads or sponsorship stuff but every media has some sort of advertising or way of making extra funds on the side. It's totally unfair that social media works that way with the canceling of people, etc. That said, I can decide whether I want to stick with my favorite RUclipsr or move on. Great thought in this video! (I'm a tiny channel but already have had over a million impressions, then boom 💥 almost nothing now) RUclips is actually fascinating...🤔🤷
An Indian channel of 7 years age with 2.35 million subscribers got deleted with 3 strikes. It is viral all over India now. It is in Hindi, today's release. Search for the tuber Technical Yogi and see his interview in Hindi with the victim, to understand his pain or his mistakes. The one who lost has already started a new channel again now courageously and with a vengeance with even more vim, vigor and vitality.
@@KevinChee I really dont know what is the lesson here. But I do know that depending purely on this platform alone for regular permanent full time career income can be a dangerous uncertain obsession for anyone. If there is anything else as a lesson that you are able to identify or analyze, surely many here will be interested to watch your next video on this topic and analysis with footage and translations from that video in question as well for "Dreamers" to be careful. As I am from India, I understood every word spoken in that "Technical Yogi" channel. I want the rest of the world to learn from this horrific story. The victim's new channel by name "Sbj Classes (New)" with the video title "Thanks Yogi Sir" is even more interesting in which he explains his torment and saga after having lost his original channel which had 2.35 million subscribers. I want you to make this story international news since millions are quitting all and dreaming of making this a permanent full time regular income career which is so dangerously volatile. I am aware of dozens of more such stories wherein many more channels from India got deleted and all of those too had over a million subscribers. If you Google search, you will find them all (all those stories) since all of them came back with new channels like the proverbial Phoenix.
His views have dropped but I still enjoy his tech reviews. Sad that everyone is just jumping on the send negative comments and ignore his reviews entirely. There's so much noise in his channel now. Hopefully he gets through this
Thanks. Not picking sides here or anything, just wanna put it out there that businesses have it tough too and they gotta do what they gotta do in a tough world
Great opinion Kevin. I can empathise with what ypu said. Its hard being a content creator. Yes 1 mistake and people remember your mistake more than the decade of good work you have contributed. Not to mention there are also cyber hackers threat and risk trying to steal our channels. Yolo or we only live once, so to me having a youtube channel and able to share views and perspective and help people is the best thing i have achieved, its even better than having a successful business. We have to enjoy what we are doing. Thanks for doing all these videos. i enjoyed them very much.
Thank you. I think most content creators do enjoy what they are doing but part of their journey involves improving their video production, which requires a team and better gears and that means money. That's when it needs to run as a business and I find many viewers fail to see that. Can't blame them though, some have the employee mindset, some have the business mindset.
I'm watching this as a content creator ❤❤. These days I'm enjoying watching your content I'm learning so much from you. This is the second video of yours I have watched thanks a lot. I have already subscribe for more
Ol' Snout is used to gettin' cancelled. My new series is already at risk because of the low-viewership. The network finna put me out on the streets again.
The r/RUclips sub on Reddit is mostly just a whole bunch of people looking for things on RUclips to hate: Ads, interface, content, specific RUclipsrs. It's nonstop. I left the subreddit and blocked it from my feed because it's just ridiculous.
As a marketing guy, I think Pew should really change his niche. 110 Mill users? Bruh you literally have more freedom than most channels. I don't know how his channel blew up, but he actually CAN pivot to an adjacent niche.
I think he did, from the typical gaming/reaction stuff he used to do back in the days to a more vlog style, which isn't catering well to his subs I guess? imo, if his choice is to live a good life, 1 with less stress and worry about getting views and subs, 1 that focuses on his lifestyle, then good for him. He is still earning a lot of revenue from his channel so it might be enough for him for the life he wants. To each of their own I guess.
gotta start evaluating if this is for you. No point losing sleep and appetite over something like this unless you're serious about doing this as a business
In my case Im not in RUclips for ad shre or sponships, which are the losest end of the scale for income in my view. I'm in it for educating my customers and prospective customers. Remember if you only focus on the money you wont get it. Creating value for your viewer is the goal.
It depends on your niche. If you're about education and driving traffic to your on sales funnel then yes. But for channels like tech review channels, they do need to rely on sponsors and views, unless they decide to create their very own tech product or something
It takes years to build a reputation, and seconds to ruin it, we've all done bad things that's a given, but sadly today if millions of people see it online all of a sudden you're the worst person in the world while all the hypocrites sit back and virtue signal from their holy temples, I will say this however Marques is a millionaire, he pulls in roughly $100,000 per MONTH with adsense revenue ALONE, (based on stats) not to mention his affiliate links and sponsorships, truth is people are literally fed up of these rich people constantly throwing more crap in your face (sponsorships: the most skipped part of their video for obvious reasons) so that they can just keep raking in more money for themselves, there is a line between integrity and just straight up greed, sadly MOST Big RUclipsrs all sell out in the end to the point of even scamming people, look at Mr. Beast and Logan Paul, KSI etc. they are amongst the WORST of the lot, so yeah the Marques situation doesn't surprise me at all, and he won't get "cancelled" he'll just ignore it and move on like the rest of them when $hit hits the fan
I do think Marques will assess the situation and think twice about taking sponsors in the future (or maybe doing it in a more convincing way). I do understand his situation though. If the product is indeed good, he tried it out long term, had a good experience and then take on the sponsor then yes, I have no problem with that. But if he is promoting a product he don't really enjoy for the sake of money then yes, that will ruin his reputation. Thing is, it is up to the viewer to decide and I think that is what's isn't clear in that video of his. I guess what I'm saying is, viewers have the right to decide but I hope these viewers aren't just following others on hating him just because everyone is doing it. MrBeast though, I've already blocked his channel from my kids after seeing his reaction and insult to his audience due to his partnership with Logan Paul and KSI. Kids don't understand because they just see him as an entertainer but I foresee parents doing the same thing I did soon
Check out one of Gary Vees latest videos where he talks about how subs no longer matters nearly as much as it used to. It’s about your one piece that has the ability to reach anyone. The algorithm has changed. You cant cater to everyone but at the same time now you can ;)
I have that other channel where some (not most) of my videos are about political stuff. Let me tell you, I always have MAGA coming in drove to 👎 my videos. Talking about how great MAGA is, i'm a democrat shield. I'm not even a Dem. It's so frustrating. 😒 I'm done with political stuff. Even though they perform well, views wise, but not worth the headache. I'll keep posting about entertainment stuff. 🙂
You're absolutely right. I feel things change overtime - inflation, cost of living etc etc. It is insane to think that a channel should stay the same and not try to increase revenue when everything is changing. Probably just me but I am not the kind who will have 1 job and expect the world to revolve around me. When the world changes, I have to adapt and change as well and to get mad at people for wanting to make more money is just ridiculous.
That's right. People made it sound like he is at fault for running a business but most who comment about how money shouldn't be a focus is just unfair. To me, it is the equivalent of hating your colleague who got promoted then claim he/she is doing it for money
I think there is a part of jealousy. When you get that big, you inevitably have people praying for your downfall. I launched a travel RUclips channel 3 months ago and I have less than 300 subs to this day. Even though I don’t even show my face or talk there is in average one to three people disliking the video 😂 People hate successful people, and also people who try to be successful. It is in human nature.
@@KevinChee I thought negative comments is engagement so just grow thick skin and ignore them? I narrate my own crime channel and there's always someone nitpicking on ONE thing I said that was wrong. Never mind the 99.9% of the video they enjoyed smh
On face value what you say it makes sense. But when you speak of someone like MKBHD taking things at face value isn’t going to lead to actual truths. For him this is a good thing since most viewers are face value viewers. But there comes a day when you become too big not to fail. Why would I say something convoluted? None of the top one percent are grassroots creators. These folks are all manufactured industry created or propped up figureheads. Eventually people will catch on. Eventually these figureheads true colors will come out. Small/medium creators can’t be compared to the top 10%.
I completely disagree with you about MKBHD. He was NOT "cancelled." None of the comments you showed were hate -- they were all appropriate to the reckless irresponsibility he displayed. He could have killed someone. Killed someone's child. Did you even think about that when you made this video? I know someone whose 8-year old child was killed by a reckless driver far less reckless than MKBHD. He killed the child by driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. MKBHD was doing ~100 mph in a 35 mph zone. How on earth can you bring yourself to minimize, even trivialize, having done that? What if he killed your loved one? Would you say the same things about people tearing into him then, and claim he was being "cancelled"? Absolutely not. Also, he committed for all these years to not doing sponsored videos -- then does one. That's perfectly appropriate for a view to take strong issue with. It's not like he's poor and needs the money! At least warn viewers in advance before you make the sponsored video. And deal with the consequences. It's the same with any job - social media or not - when you or circumstances or the economy change. Finally, I think it's really sad that you discuss "responsibility for our actions" only applied to content creation and viewing. Not to ripping through a 35 mph zone doing 100 mph. That's where you really should have said that. That's disappointing indeed.
Like I said at the start of the video, the focus of the video is around sponsorship and not the driving, hence the ending. I think you're mixing 2 things together and misinterpreted my message for the wrong action.
Great vid! However, if content creators are worried about offending people... time for a new pasttime. Societies globally are stressed and battlelines are being drawn. We've got active, hot wars, in Eurasia and the Middle East. A Chinese move on Taiwan would have massive repercussions on global technology access. Tech vloggers, of all people, would be uniquely impacted by such an event as the world's number one silicon chip manufacturer, is at the heart of that conflict. Take a position, stand by it, and if it offends people, too bad. McDonald's is always hiring.
Yup, exactly. McDonalds offended a lot of people too but life goes on for them. Just gotta do what they do best and acknowledge that they can't satisfy everyone

Very well said.
There are a lot of silent drivers out there who now slowed down after causing fatalities.
for me, I wouldn't even be filming if I am behind a car and driving (I don't even look at my phone while driving). I didn't see that part of the video where this happened, it was already removed by the time I got to it but it sounds pretty serious.
It boggles the mind that people get so worked up about a speeding car, when in the same day on the average 140 people were shot to death in the US.
Fortunately nothing happens but baffles me that this is sticking around for so long when there are bigger issues out there. It is starting to feel more like a personal attack imo.
@@KevinChee Success breaths envy and hatred. He must be doing something right. Enjoyed your video by the way
A very mature approach, thanks for sharing.
cheers
Kevin, you're my man mate. You knew a lot about RUclips stories. I salute you. Cheers!
Many years of experience I would say but still a total newbie
Another great video, Kevin. I love your channel and this is a very great view point!! I agree with you
Thank you!
Great advises and we do love in a sensitive world!
It certain is a sensitive world
I will say this once.
@@KevinChee Also Very True My Man. Nothing Is Free At The End Of The Day, So Lesson Learn Here. You Can't Please Everyone 👍....
(I'm a tiny channel but already have had over a million impressions, then boom 💥 almost nothing now) RUclips is actually fascinating...🤔🤷
what's fast forward? It is a type of concept or it literally means fast forward, like fast forwarding a video?
@KevinChee yes, lol. If someone doesn't like an ad they can skip through it 👍
This is not an issue. You're just making things up.
is it?
An Indian channel of 7 years age with 2.35 million subscribers got deleted with 3 strikes. It is viral all over India now. It is in Hindi, today's release. Search for the tuber Technical Yogi and see his interview in Hindi with the victim, to understand his pain or his mistakes. The one who lost has already started a new channel again now courageously and with a vengeance with even more vim, vigor and vitality.
so what's the lesson here?
I made many mistakes we are human. I will not stop watching his tech videos. great points another is TechUSA got canceled
His views have dropped but I still enjoy his tech reviews. Sad that everyone is just jumping on the send negative comments and ignore his reviews entirely. There's so much noise in his channel now. Hopefully he gets through this
It's great to just listen to someone speak at times, Kevin. You are a natural speaker, Kevin.
Thanks. Not picking sides here or anything, just wanna put it out there that businesses have it tough too and they gotta do what they gotta do in a tough world
Thanks for the video!
thanks for watching

Great one Kevin! ✌️
thank you
@ 😎
I have already subscribe for more
Thanks for that. Much appreciated. More to come!
Ol' Snout is used to gettin' cancelled. My new series is already at risk because of the low-viewership. The network finna put me out on the streets again.
aw man
Why you still complaining about?
@@Rufio1975 It's my thing, dawg 🤣
The r/RUclips sub on Reddit is mostly just a whole bunch of people looking for things on RUclips to hate: Ads, interface, content, specific RUclipsrs. It's nonstop. I left the subreddit and blocked it from my feed because it's just ridiculous.
they have too much time on hand if you ask me
Thank you for your video!
You are welcome!
I'm still struggling to be honest, sometimes no sleep and no eat but still not getting anywhere. Not sure why? I don't blame anyone instead myself!
gotta start evaluating if this is for you.
Really love this take
Lucky to be small RUclips channel in that matter 😂
good and bad I reckon
Kevin, I love what you have to say. Awesome channel! 😊
thank you
Good info Kevin. Thanks for sharing.
Any time!
The standards for most content creators are unreasonably LOW, not HIGH. I see all the types of content that is being produced daily.
the 'standard' is subjective
@@KevinChee Not really.
Check out one of Gary Vees latest videos where he talks about how subs no longer matters nearly as much as it used to. It’s about your one piece that has the ability to reach anyone. The algorithm has changed. You cant cater to everyone but at the same time now you can ;)
just gotta create creating then
Viewers are the king
Naw content
@ice_ryda you could have a good content but if reported by viewers youtube could delete Your account channel. But they go hand in hand
viewers have more power than they think
I have that other channel where some (not most) of my videos are about political stuff. Let me tell you, I always have MAGA coming in drove to 👎 my videos. Talking about how great MAGA is, i'm a democrat shield. I'm not even a Dem. It's so frustrating. 😒 I'm done with political stuff. Even though they perform well, views wise, but not worth the headache. I'll keep posting about entertainment stuff. 🙂
You have to have a very strong belief and mentality when it comes to political topics
Sponsored video is not a big deal but the fact that he doesn’t do it for long got his audience used to that.
His channel is a business, his audience is not seeing it as such
That's right. People made it sound like he is at fault for running a business but most who comment about how money shouldn't be a focus is just unfair. To me, it is the equivalent of hating your colleague who got promoted then claim he/she is doing it for money
yes kevin
yup
I think there is a part of jealousy.
When you get that big, you inevitably have people praying for your downfall.
I launched a travel RUclips channel 3 months ago and I have less than 300 subs to this day.
Even though I don’t even show my face or talk there is in average one to three people disliking the video 😂
People hate successful people, and also people who try to be successful. It is in human nature.
Believe it or not, the dislike can help push your videos so it is not a bad thing. It is the comments that do most harm.
@ I think you’re right. Disliking is a form of engagement. I’m not worried about that. But the « evil » intention is funny.
@@KevinChee I thought negative comments is engagement so just grow thick skin and ignore them? I narrate my own crime channel and there's always someone nitpicking on ONE thing I said that was wrong. Never mind the 99.9% of the video they enjoyed smh
Good luck fellow RUclipsrs! I wish you all success 🎉
all the best
@KevinChee Thank you
Wasn't Mr beast already canceled? Just makes the point stand stronger. Everyone gets canceled sooner or later
he is still pulling in hundreds of millions of views so not really at this point
@KevinChee oh, ok I don't follow him because I never liked the way he makes content, but good for him, I guess.
So cool so kind so real
thank you
On face value what you say it makes sense.
🤔
