As a black dude, I 100% agree that Mexican folks, know how to love people no matter who they are or where they're from. As long as you are respectful towards them, they will treat you like one of their own
True words bro! Love & respect to your people & others , I left and have a lot friends and familia in the states . Now I living in Mexico , but I got good memories and good times back then . Stay safe & blessings from the Sonoran Desert , Mexico

I grew up in an agricultural rural town, the population was about 50/50 Hispanic, White. A majority of the Hispanic population was of Mexican heritage. I can say a Mexican friend is a friend for life. They are a passionate and loyal culture.

I'm truly amazed at this dudes interviewing abilities. Keeps the conversation moving, knows what to say, makes everyone feel comfortable. It's amazing.
Some university needs to give this guy an honorary PhD in anthropology. He is doing the real cultural work/research. I learn so much every time I watch
I agree! As a current doctoral candidate of Anthropology I am hooked!

Uni is trash, no longer the educational meccas they once were. They'd be lucky to have a guy like Peter.
He is putting in the work, no doubt. Also doesn’t hurt to step out of your comfort zone and engage people of color.
It is so heart warming to see ANY PERSON who steps out of their comfort zone to interact respectfully with people who can be radically different than our themselves. My hat is off to you Peter, you are doing this. I am a fan of your now.
As a middle aged white dude from rural Oklahoma I love this. This is what makes America great, so many cultures living in one country. We are the melting pot.
Tulsa ok, checking in w the check in.
I been saying this! So many different cultures, foods, religions, traditions, Shoot even different type of Hobbies and Activities all here in the Great US! That's why I hate racism because it takes away from all the good we have!

I've been to LA few times, but didn't check out this scene. These people are AMAZING!! Love the vibes, the laughter and the fun. They are like a big family.
As a Socal'er, to any person outside of California, or South-Western US, I'd like to give my insight over my 30 years of living along side our Latino/Latina neighbors and friends. The Hispanic people are the most open, caring and approachable out of our melting pot of a country. It's 100% correct that if you approach them with respect, you'll get it back and more. I'm German descent, and I understand the pride they have for their culture, but they're happy to be here, and raise their families here. I'm glad to have them as neighbors and friends.
We Mexicans always merging west coast hood lifestyle or lowriders with Mexican culture !!
They always put Mexican flags, Aztec murals, Mexican flag blankets, Mexican toys or anything that’s from they Mexican ethnicity into lowriders. This will never make it only a Chicano / Mexican thang or change where lowrider originated from which is West Coast - California. Lowrider is for every race not only Chicano. - FACTS !!!
If I had a dollar for every American that says the same thing i would be a billionaire. These people don't represent hispanics. Southamericans, Centralamericans, Spaniards do.

Yeah so cool, I don't understand why that isn't more normal. And all the dads hanging out with their kids to make bikes and stuff, so cool.
As a father, I had some anxiety before pops showed up.
I admire the OG Chicana in the Charlie Brown shirt and slippers that mentioned her career in Aerospace /Boeing Legal, I’m sure she’s had her share of stereotypes, would love to hear more about her life experiences. I’m a young Chicana Engineer and still learning to navigate stereotypical situations.
She definitely needs s 30 min video.
Best of luck to you! As a Hispanic women, it’s tough, but don’t let it overrun you.
Yeah, but those were stereotypical characteristics that were created and adopted by your own culture. Hispanics played the victim card like a violin to get free education, handouts and take jobs from folks who were greatly more qualified.
Don't worry, you'll land the job you want even though someone more qualified deserves it. You guys are set now. And when you suck at that job and others have to fix your mistakes, they won't fire you because they'll fear you'll use the discrimination card.
My cousin was employed at Boeing as an electrical engineer and left for Airbus because of what I just told you. He made the mistake of learning Spanish and got stuck supervising the Hispanic engineers.
He explained to me that they didn't keep the Hispanic engineers because they were qualified, Boeing kept them for the sake of diversity. He also said his title of Supervisor was misleading. He was just there to correct the work of so called Hispanic engineers that were there 2 to 5 yrs.
It was his first job right out of university. A white kid.
What's to admire about a wardrobe that will get your ass kicked in certain areas lol. It had to be her grandparents that had experienced the stereotypes not these lady's. You can't be wearing stuff like this to work you have to wear your uniform unless your off duty so what's with your complaining.
We all are. It is pervasive.

Watching these types of videos warm my heart every time. Me being a black male friends with Mexicans, worked with them, and just all around being closed, some of the best people I been around. I remembered going to my first Mexican party I felt nervous since I was the only black person there, but never felt unwanted. received nothing but love and have nothing but love and respect for the Mexican community.
So why do they call us mayates??? Ask your Mexican “friends” that 🤮

Porter, try and talk to your people about the culture problem in the black community. You can change everything when you change the culture.
lol don’t get so comfortable. Not every Mexican is the same. Not all Mexicans dress like this or talk like this. Not every Mexican acts the same. You still need to look out for yourself just like with any person. Just because someone is Mexican it doesn’t necessarily mean they will always be nice to you.

I’m a gringa but I have been married to a Mexican man for 10 years. He is a mechanic also and has taken me to many of these low rider events here in the US and in Mexico. Mexican ppl are the chillest, most easy going people on this planet. Even if you don’t speak Spanish and vice versa, they will offer you a taco or a horchata to drink just for visiting. Half my in laws don’t speak English but I have never felt out of place around them. I spent a month in Leon, Guanajuato in 2015 for Christmas and that was awesome. Mexican people just love to celebrate with family unlike Americans who concentrate more on material things and money 😕

I love how confident the ladies are in a male dominated lowrider culture. Salute!
Nothing is male dominated. Women just have to put in more effort, and be outspoken when they know the industry you are talking about (i see this term overused in every industry I work in, tech and weed now and its untrue and I can prove it) You just dont see females trying to dominate industry or make business moves like men do because men are the breadwinners and competitive types.
Theres two type of confidence one is because you know what you doing second is when you act like you know I thought they were the second one.

You bring out the raw reality of street cultures: it's beauty and the human side of bonding on shared passions. These people inspire us through your content. For instance the term "gang member" is actually universal to people. "Representing my neighborhood" and the social control that goes with it.
Growing up. We're going to the culture. I lived in a postwar project. Out west we stood up and managed in the 70's. I'm changing to my eurogenic mix, and the spirits of Polo and Magellan are up and coming back. We're the Gen X-2k bridge.

My favourite content so far has been the la Mexican Chicano life so cultured love seeing the other side not just the gang culture
Hey Goering, the proper term is Mexinx Chicinx!
@@concernedliberal4453 no it's not white boy
@@concernedliberal4453 gtfo with that LatinX bs its Mexican American or Chicano/chicana
@@concernedliberal4453 nawh it isn’t. it just is in your little bubble. majority of Hispanics are offended by silly looney leftists like you changing the Spanish language and creating words for them that don’t even exist. (I’m Sicilian so the Spanish and Italian languages are very similar) stop speaking for people- do these ppl look unhappy/oppressed to you?? ugh probably cause you live online. just be quiet and go outside.
Hey herman
What a beautiful thing! I love people coming together like this.
Wow those cars are works of art
I'm a white dude that is from and grew up in El Paso TX and I was always excited for lowrider competitions . Their amazing and straight works of art and I would love to see this culture thrive and still stay original to itself.
Just came from Ft Bliss after over 4 years there. El Paso is a really good place.
This is awesome. It’s like they cringe a bit at you at first, but then realize how open you are and not making fun, just honestly curious, and they get cool with you real quick. It’s great to see the kindness from you to them, and how welcoming they are with you. Great videos my dude.
Yeah I didn’t know who he was but after watching HIS Chanel and rapping HES A BADASS DUDE ML&R 🙏🏽🙌🏽star⭐️
Thank you so much for this! I’ve loved lowriders since I was a little girl. Seeing women with these dope cars is a beautiful thing.
Amazing watching you interview people. Very respectful and street smart. Strong culture.
Watching this from Dallas and I told my Mexican-American wife it’s so cool how different the Hispanic heritage is from California and Texas, 2 totally different lifestyles and 2 of my favorites!! Awesome work Peter and thanks to Sandy and all the Chicanas for this video
Yeah Texas Hispanics are weird
No lowriders in Texas?
@Tina Draper not as beautiful as California ones.. texas suckxz
@@tinadraper9143 yeah we have low riders here just nothing like SoCal. And Texas Hispanics are great, that’s part of why everybody and their Momma’s are moving here
@Project C.J.J yeah barely!!
Thank you Peter for giving our people some exposure and displaying a different image than from what the media likes to portray!! Your respectful approach is very appreciated ✊🏾🇲🇽 Chicano hasta la muerte!
Watching this in the garage working on my 65 SS. Much love from up north Eastern Canada. Live long and healthy.
I used to think where i live was cool but damn after seeing peter’s south cali videos i think where I live is boring as hell. Im from Vancouver, Canada and we definitely do NOT have a warm culture like this. After watching this video i just want to walk down this street and talk for hours with the people that built their cars and hear their stories. These cars are absolute classics and most of these folks build them from the ground up, as a car enthusiast myself, all these amazing people have my 100% respect. Thank you for showing the world how beautiful all these cultures are.
Much love and respect to all the people who kept it real and told it like it is. Also, for accepting the random interview guy and making him feel at home.
This is one of the few aspects of LA culture that I love. These classic cars are so great!
This video was fun! I could see me bringing a lawn chair, setting up on the sidewalk and spending an afternoon there watching the cars go by. You can tell a lot of money and love have been put in to those cars.
Just found your videos and they're so good - they look at niche communities and go beyond stereotypes or basic interactions and give a real slice of what their life is like and where their heads are at. Super interesting!
Thank you for this video. As a first generation Mexican American, I had a few Tia y Tio that would embrace this culture and I also embraced when I was young ,but as a I got older, I was always stereotyped as a gang member/uneducated/violent/ghetoo etc which made me distance from the Chicano culture. This video seeing the female engineer in her chicana style really put a smile on my face, that I should have never listen to other people's thoughts about my culture. At the age of 27, that works in the operating room, I will start embracing my chicana heritage. Going to start getting some outfits now and gotta find me some hoops lol. Thank you for this video. Made me feel like a kid again going to cat shows with my family. Viva mexico y ameica siempre 🇺🇸❤️🇲🇽
lol what the fuck is a "MEXICAN AMERICAN"?? you know that MEXICO is in the America Continent dont you??.
O sos Mexicano o sos Estadounidense, dejense de pelotudeces de "African american , mexican american" bla bla bla , parecen idiotas que no saben que quieren ser en la vida.
Love you sister keep that flame lit. Chicano is a culture not a gang and we love just like any other. I bet u gunna look good doing it too
Cause it is a gang culture why pretend...
I've always stereotyped Chicano(a) culture to be associated with gang culture, but it was good to hear from a woman who loves the scene but has a professional life as well. That also came from not being educated, but this video is a great representation. So many difference people and dynamics of the culture.
I am not really a low rider guy but I have always given much respect to the low ridding community. They are some of the most detailed car builders around. I love to see there detail in paint and especially engraving
This video reminds me of the first time I went to Nogales, Arizona. I wasn't really into thick Hispanic women who wear too much makeup at first, but I am now.
@@azlefty1, thick IS hot. So is too much makeup.
@@azlefty1 hahahaha
😂😂
Well, they do eat a lot of tamales.
@@ottovonbismarck4959 and I'm okay with that!
I love this! As a Mexican-American, I can appreciate the Chicanas ❤️.
But why do y’all rap ?that’s not Chicano culture that’s black American culture rap got nothing to do with Mexicans
true
let's all stick to our own culture
@@Joshtherealdeal what are you even talking about?
@@iLikeCok hip hop black American culture Mexicans riding off our culture
As someone who is born and raised in Canada I found this video to be super interesting and cool!
I've never been impressed when it comes to Hot Rods but, Lowriders have always wow'd me since I was a kid and seeing and learning about beautiful Chicano culture is just amazing!!!!
If you wanna know about the original low rider culture that started it all was out here in New Mexico. The homies still cruise every Sunday up and down central ave with the dopest rides! Love these low rider videos you do
The striking thing is the paint color on the cars. The colors are beautiful
Thank you for representing my culture and my home town in a positive light....
Can you shed light on what you found positive here?
@@mysteriousjz lolol
@@mysteriousjz community, family, respect, love, hard work, excellent art, honest labour, etc.... what a fucking clown comment.
@@mysteriousjz It's coming to a barrio near you if it aint there already. No stopping this. Get used to it. Only the beginning homie.
Isn't this more black California's culture?
I'm 45 jewish guy from ohio and love lowriders my whole life. These videos show how we are more alike then different. Keep up the great work
Love the unbiased representation you do on your videos!!
Awesome content. I love the vibe of LA. Culture, People, Music, Food, Clothes, Art, Cars, Style 😍😍. Ive always said if i was from America, id be from LA 😆. Much love from New Zealand.
Lowriding in the 90’s was treacherous. Things were a lot cheaper back then so a lot of teenage knuckleheads were able to low ride. You would get jacked for your nice ride. Now a days you hardly see kids lowriding because what kid has 100-200k to be dipping in a rag top Impala? Low riding has definitely turned into a more family friendly hobby a lot of these guys have great jobs in order to feed their lowriding addiction, some of these guys used to be hardcore gang members some still are. I have noticed lowriding and chicano culture has definitely grown in popularity recently, mainly because of social media. Although kids aren’t really lowriding like before, they do still find other ways to immerse themselves in the culture. Usually the kids/teenagers who low ride are not gang members but kids of the guys who low ride. As far as the dress code you gotta realize from the 60’s-90’s this was literally the dress code not just for gang bangers but for your everyday average kid from the barrio as well. Although to the average eye you May not be able to differentiate a “low-rider” from your active gang banger cholo if you are involved in the culture you can tell the difference….
Hey Dr. Mengele, the appropriate term is Chicinx.
@concerned liberal Not only is it NOT the appropriate term, it's not a term at all. It's not okay to create a word, then call out those that don't use your made up word.
I can't think of the word to use for this, but it rhymes with ignorance
i love that the whole family and friends come together as much as possible working on something they love and hyping each other up throughout ❤️
This was was so incredibly fascinating. Great job Peter. Can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this
Peter, thank you so much for bringing people in this country together and showing we are not much different. We gotta live together and we are all Americans. Can't be afriad of each other. Let's all come together and enjoy this country as one.
Growing up in ELA, there was a sub culture that came from the low rider. As many of our families grew up watching low riders, many of us were into mini trucks and lowered VW’s. I had both. We weren’t cholos and cholas, we were more into the nightclub disco scene. We also cruised Whittier Bl. Just a different section. Would love to see you do a video on this subject. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Mini trucks were big in South Florida back in the 90s
Learn Spanish first before you say anything Efren!
Yeah that was a big scene. In general car culture is popular in LA/so cal. 4x4s, motorcycle clubs, custom rods/hot rods, paisa truckin clubs, Asian import car clubs, etc.
That would be awesome. Mini trucks , cha-cha girls, 80s disco was definitely a movement in the late 80s that's sadly overlooked. I grew up in Whittier and though I was too young to partake....it definitely was something essential, cruising on Whittier boulevard also before the violence in the 90s put an end to it.
I LOVED those mini-trucks. I wished Toyota and "Datsun" (Nissan) still made that sized mini-trucks - they were a great size, got much better MPG, and were tons of fun.
White guy here who’s always wanted one or two since I was a young teen watching Easy-E, Snoop & Dre vids. Left So-Cal after 20 years for Texas. Would love to “bucket list it”and find me a bucket out here and do it right. Slap it on a trailer behind a big ol pickup truck and head out back west to cruise it in a show. One day my friends one day. Thanks for doing these cool vids for us who have a penchant towards the culture. Go Dodgers!!!
These East LA Chicano/a videos are great, as a teacher I can't wait to share them with my Ethnic Studies classes.
