@@ericanderson735 comedy is subjective. What do YOU think is funny? How do YOU define funny? Life is not a science. He said it best in his "Ted talk" just now because "the unexamined life is not worth living, man"
Demetri is a comedic genius. He just disguised a motivational speech as a comedy show and it actually made me feel better about life. What an absolute legend
I watch this video at least once every 3 months or so to remind myself that there is no such thing as a perfect plan to life. I'd rather try what I want to do in life and learn from my mistakes than to never try at all. Examine your life. Know thyself. If you really want to do something, try it. If it doesn't work out be honest w/ yourself and learn from it. Move on.
ahepperl I come back to this video every so often as well. I take away the same thing, and somehow it allows me to drift back to "center". I play it when I need to mentally rest and raise my vibes!
I do the same thing, I'll come back and watch it occasionally just to remind myself that it's ok to have no clue how your life should function, all that matters is that you're living it.
I watched this years ago, when I was pretty young, and now I'm watching it again for the first time since. I never realized how much this had an impact on me. Specifically with all of the useless talents I accumulated and how my mind works similarly to his. Now I'm 22, and I'm going through a rut. Broke up with my first gf recently and I can't seem to get over it, drug addict, no job, barely any friends compared to before, and I'm looking at some jail time literally for missing a court date for something I did over two years ago (selling weed) which is about to be legal in my state. Everyday I've been thinking about how giving up would be so much easier, but this just gave me a whole new perspective on everything. I feel hopeful for the first time in awhile, and I couldn't thank this brilliant man enough.
@@daledan-tony8722I still have a lot of work to do but my mindset has definitely improved. I did end up doing a week shy of 4 months in jail for that weed bs. It was either that or drug court and that shits a trap. But yeah I'd say I'm doing well. Still kicking at least
This is my favorite comedian. I actually relate to Demetri. I think he's a genius (literally a very smart person). Despite all the jokes, he's really dedicated to self-improvement and success.
The last time I watched this was maybe when I was 17 and I realized now that I may have internalized a lot of his behaviors, especially the useless talents stuff. I used to love bar tricks.
I see so much of myself in Demitri. It sounds like him and I were similar as kids. I floated through school, never really applying myself, never needing to cause I was "good enough". I had other things I card about, other people, other imaginations. College gave me a wake up call and now I'm graduated with a near-useless degree, a dead-end job, and I feel like I've already reached my full potential. The world always coddled me, told me I was special and would always turn heads and no one is looking my way now. It feels like I was fed lies for my entire childhood, tricked into believing them, and then tossed aside like trash. Thank you for this insight Demetri. I can't give up on my dreams, and life is way more complicated than I could ever fathom.

rewatching and just noticed that at 1:11 when he says "me here", he is pointing at the me in his name. The literal "me there". There is truly no end to this mans madness
Well, this changed my perspective. Is it a coincidence? He makes tally lists to try to fill out, and on my job, I made checklists, laminated them, and diagrams, etc. all to make me feel like my job is a list to be done. It makes things simpler and manageable for me. I like having written down structure as if I've simplified my job down to a list. And I'm even thinking of doing it at home. * Take a walk. * Brush your teeth * get everything off the floor * Dust out computer * Do the dishes * etc. Maybe it's worth trying.

Not only is the title a palindrome but the entire special is, he starts and ends with the same quote, even says "If I" in the exact middle of the show. There is way to much in the show to even cover in one comment. I have been a long time fan of Demetri, this is his most well thought out performance in my opinion.
