If you are serious about getting into tailwhips, I cannot explain enough how much a trampoline bike helped me. I have done probably 4 dead sailors in my career, and the rotation is second nature for me. After that its just a matter of growing a pair of balls and putting your feet on
I think your biggest problem is you are just kicking as hard as you can. Try to build up to it in steps, kick it around and land standing with the bike at your side, then land with the bike under you, then try to put your feet on. It is mostly an arm movement. Just like a barspin, make sure you are forward over the bike. I can't stress enough how much the trampoline bike helps with stuff like this.
Tailwhips are a massive commitment trick and when you get to the more advanced stuff it’s always better to catch pedals and then get the bike away from you.
I ain't no boy as I'm 41 and I just get fed up looking at people constantly asking for likes and subs. If your channel is good people will find it without you trying to get them from other channels. If you think I'm a dickhead so be it. Make your channel with good content and it'll succeed. Do you think Scotty Cranmer went round other channels asking people to sub to him??? No is the answer. He produced good stuff and people found it on their own.
Id worry about other tricks first. Barspin is a beginner trick, whips are advanced. Ive been biking for years, been doing bars for years and still cant whip even though i try them every session.
if you just learned bars then i highly doubt that. Can you hop whip flat and land next to the bike? getting it all the way around before your feet touch?
This is the first tailwhip tutorial where he actually covers goofy riders. I was trying tailwhips years ago and all the videos just covered kicking back foot and catching front foot which didn’t really help cause kicking front foot gives you almost no leverage. The tips in this video that really helped me was tweaking your hips out to let the bike under you and keeping your feet up. And the laying on your back practice really helps. Although going from a tailwhip out of a bank to hop whips down ledges was like a year not a day probably cause of my poor skill level and the goofy life. Thanks Spencer you are mostly responsible for me learning whips like 3 years ago and now I can do them flat which I never thought I’d be able to do.
I love all your videos, I'm learning new tricks everyday from you it seems. Thank you for putting out the experienced, humble, and down to earth content. 🥰
You could also learn the foot jam tailwhip before and actual tailwhip (not the flatland version). It teaches you to jump off and on the pedals perfectly. Only thing it doesn't teach well is the arm movements.
That really helped me. Taught me how to tweak my hips to get the bike under me, only problem was I’m goofy and I’d do my footjam whips oppo, but it still helped just learning how to go for the pedals.
Hell yes finally a bmx video that teaches a trick and it helps you. Thank You Spencer Awesome vid please do more how to videos. How about the foot jam whip I have trouble getting it all the way around?
I was stuck with the idea of catching the whip in the air before landing. I guess it's not mandatory unless you have enough time to catch it, for example in dirt and big jumps. Thanks a lot, I was torturing myself by trying to catch it the air. Best tips ever. The slowmo clips help a lot. Idol.
Remember to go down, then throw it back, you wanna be right over that back tire, the lower you are the easier the balance point. Arms should be straight, use legs and body positioning to balance. Practice as much as you can, the feeling of the balance point is something you have to get on your own, no tutorial will teach you that, but I promise even if you have terrible balance, it’s just technique and practice and you can hold it forever or until your arms get tired. Know this comment is 5 years old and you might be able to manual fire now but hope it helped!
The main problem is that people think you have to use all your arms... You don't want to do that and go smashing ur rim down... You just want to chill and wait till u just out the transition arms straight u wanna be just looking at ur front tire cause that's what gonna flatten you out in the air when u hit that transition... When you hit it you just wanna side kick out enough that you get the frame and rotation half way around then when you're halfway u just wanna keep chilling and do a little flick with ur wrists and spot the pedals which you'll see cause u should be still looking over ur front tyre.. They'll be close.
Like us front foot kickers, should we try to kind of drop the bike in the direction we're kicking. It's pretty hard to get the initial kick in from the front of the bike.
I'm ready, now I just need to get a BMX bike.
Me asf
This is me rn 😭

same so stoked man thanks a lot mate
Id worry about other tricks first. Barspin is a beginner trick, whips are advanced. Ive been biking for years, been doing bars for years and still cant whip even though i try them every session.
One thing that spencer didnt stress enough is this trick takes AWHILE to learn, usually at least a year of consistent trying it every day.
Im already not far off whips so just need to focus on them
if you just learned bars then i highly doubt that. Can you hop whip flat and land next to the bike? getting it all the way around before your feet touch?
