Asked for a brake light replacement got this video. It appears if your brake light stops working most likely culprit is water leaking by the housing seal common in these models for years ford has not fixed this issue now when your LED brake shorts out you have to replace the housing for $6to 700 dollars good job Ford. Not.
Great video. Only complaint is taking the clip off, could really see where you were prying it off from, but it made sense when you put it back on where it comes from. Thanks for a good video!
Yes it was hard to see that part. I finally got the harness off and I'm going to sand down that clip a bit just in case I ever have to do this again. There's no tension on that wire harness, don't know why its made so hard to get off.
On a 2017 Ford Escape, some water had gotten past the clear plastic cover and the brake lights stopped working. Bummer. After cleaning some of what I could see such as the running light (clear bulb) socket - the brake lights mostly work on the left side. But not on the right side! On the left there are three "levels" to the brake light and two are on strong - one sort of flashes. On the right side there are still no brake lights. I did drill some small, unobstrusive, drain holes in the clear plastic cover and I am gonna see if they help keep the brake lights on the left side working. But I would still like to access the LED lights on the right (and left) side but that is not possible??? The earlier versions of the Escape have regular bulbs, not the LED ones. Can we replace the 2017 assembly with an assembly for an earlier version - to get brake light bulbs that are not LEDs???
Hey.! Got any news on this? Two of the 3 LEDs on left side stopped working and Ford told me I have to get the whole part instead of just replacing the LEDs...
@@DonOmarRamiro I bought two replacement assemblies on line and replaced them, this was MUCH less than Ford was gonna charge. I am gonna cut the old ones apart and look at the LEDs, check back in a few days. And certainly the LEDs use a lot less current than the older incandescent bulbs so the harness is probably not the same. So you probably cannot use an older assembly, with all incandescent bulbs, in the newer Escapes. Bummer.
4:55 ... Those cables go to the LEDs, right? I need to replace 2 of those, on is still working.! How do i do that without having to buy the whole tailight?! Thank you.!
I have LED brake light version. All 3 LED lights are out from rainwater. Anyone have luck buying a non-ford housing? Can you send the website? Why would I buy the ford housing again if it is likely to fail and need to be replaced again?
He did not make it difficult, it was absolutely realistic. I cursed out the Ford engineers for making it so fu*king difficult to remove the yellow/reverse bulb. A minor modification on the holder for the main plug was all it needed.
thats for a turn signal bulb, correct? I thought the taillight/brake light was LED. Seems like most of the newer vehicles you have so much fun trying to get the taillight housing off the vehicle.
So what do you do to replace the LED break light. If you say that the whole light housing has to be replaced for $600.00 + mechanic cost I will get rid of my Ford SUV and my Ford f350 and never have anything to do with Ford ever goodbye
Appreciate you posting the video. My brake light light is LED for my 2017 Escape. Just changed it with the help of your video. After paying $500 for the assembly hosing 😅 and your video, it's working now. 😁
@@hayseedautos the two bulbs you show in your video are not for the brake light. One is a running light and the big bulb is the turn signal. So the actual brake lights must be non-serviceable LEDs if I’m understanding correctly
How do you change the brake lights
Thanks for being the only video that worked lmao watched 6 others and finally got it watching this one
Awesome! Happy to help

Kevin O'Neil I drill a small hole in the assembly to keep it drained of water.
Okay but the 3 red lights that come on with the brake dont turn on for me
did you find a fix?

@@charlesphillips554 where did you get the assembly and how much was it? I’m in a similar pickle
I've got the same problems.
Same problem
I see a couple other people have rain water leaking into their tail lights too.
You gotta do the giggle giggle on those tail lights lol 😁😆

Any luck finding out?
This also works on earlier models with the same taillight design.
Is that 3157 for amber lights?
What are you grabbing with your right hand?

I got a new entire assembly , working bulbs and all for $90 off ebay.
My Mother's was cracked from an accident.
Thank you! $90 is the best price I have seen. I still have not ordered anything. If you still have the link, do you mind sharing? Thank you.
Best video for 2017
thank you i needed to see that
No problem!
I'm having a hard time removing the dangling thing to get to the bulbs what can i use to get it off?
A flathead screwdriver and determination is what I used

I need a separate video on how to remove the assembly. Mines all rusted on
The taillight assembly needs to be removed to change the bulbs, so the process of removing the assembly is shown in this video.

Happy to help!
What size of a socket for the bolts.
8mm
This only works for non LED tail and brake ligjts
Yep
It doesn't show the Brake Bulb light. Its Led light !
The brake light bulb itself is not red.
I removed the electric tape
What a Mickey Mouse (watch) operation that was!
Nice.
That's not for led
