  • I am sure many of our viewers are curious as to how much fuel the new 1.5 liter Proton X70 will be able to achieve, so on the recent media drive to Desaru, we did a short fuel consumption test at highway speeds on the North-South Expressway, at speeds between 100 - 120 km/h.
    We used a standard vehicle prepared for the media drive, but our intention to do the FC test was not announced; however, please note that the test results were based on the instrumentation and gauges as supplied with the vehicle, so what you see is what you get.
    Driven at normal speed, the Proton X70 does return a decent consumption, but as with all vehicles, high speed driving can cause FC to go up.
    I mistook the speed warning alarm that occurs at 110 km/h for the BSM, so my apologies for that.
    Please enjoy the video, and don't forget to subscribe.

    The sound you've mentioned was the speed reminder...only will sound if once your speed is 110km...blindspot warning only in terms of yellow LED blinking on the A pillar...if you active the LDW...it will sound if you change lane without using the signal...

    A much anticipated vid! A v good figure, I must say. I think for daily drive, it’ld go up to 9.5L/100km. Overall, I think not a bad idea to change to this smaller engine. They shld reduce d price! Tho 3 cyl harshness does worry me a bit…
    I’ld still b choosing my current 1.8 over this tho. Daily drive, sport mode half d time, I get 11 L/100km. I just luv d 300 nm of tork too much lol
    Ps: to buyers, throw off that engine cover. Let d air circulate round d engine bay better.

      @zulfadzley 2 года назад +5

      Same 1.8T ckd here. But just regular smooth drive give me 8-8.5L, mostly 8.5L based on meter. If really stuck on traffic then this become 9-9.5L this for smooth driving. Agreed love the 300Nm, jerking free of this DCT, and best the great NVH

      Try not to remove engine cover. They act as a channel for air flow. 😁😁😁

      I’d love to get the 1.8 one for my third car but d fuel consumption kills….my civic fc 1.8 only consumes 6.5 liter per 100 km, which is much much better consumption

    7.5km/l on the highway is like having a fuel consumption of Proton Campro IAFM+
    But with much better acceleration

    • @sleepless3y3s
      @sleepless3y3s 2 года назад +3

      Correction. It is actually Litres per 100km. Convert 7.5L/100km to Km/l that's 13.3Km/L. Not bad for a 1.5 ton SUV.

      whops my typo
      I indeed meant whatever is displayed on YS Khong's video, 7.5L/100km
      Indeed the FC is not bad for an SUV

    7.5l/km, uncle previous test on 1.8 is much better around 7.3l/km = 20km test and 7.1l/km in 60km test. Extra power, yet still much more fuel saving.

    Our NS highway should be 3 lanes each way by now, from jb to sg petani.
    Speed limit should follow traffic density. If low volume, speed limit should be increased to 140km/ hr. High traffic, lower to 90, especially during festivities,

      Well...the 1.5 feel okay if you driving normal road...but if you go Genting highland...you will feel that the 1.8 is much better....also the 0-100 pickup is slower for 1.5...if you like driving fast from 0-100 u better take 1.8. For me...initial pick up is important as I don't like my car go slow from 0-80....Otherwise the 1.5 is good enough la haha

    Unfortunately if you use the X70 as a city car for the most, expect a realistic consumption figure of 12L/100KM.

    Hello Ys Khong, I'm curious as why you didn't use ACC to maintain the speed at 110kmh? makes it much easier imo

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  2 года назад +2

      ACC seeks to maintain a set speed, so will accelerate harder if necessary. So it is not mecessarily more fuel efficient.
