This just goes to show, again, that Fractal's actively listening to its user community. That thread was immensely satisfying to read through and see Cliff's dedication and participation in the whole discussion. You can't beat that.
You’re a beast Leon! Thanks so much for your contribution to the Fractal community. After 30 years of playing guitar I just picked up an Axe Fx3 this week. Appreciate all of your helpful vids.
Yet another morning I wake up to that soothing Aussie voice, except this morning I legit thought I was still dreaming when I heard TheGearForum mentioned!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
2:19 at the first note you’re already there. Amazing sound right out of the box, you simply have to love what Cliff has done with the Mesa amp models in the Frsctal units.
MV cap was the missing ticket for me, before that I was having to go a bit extreme with treble and presence settings. Introducing the MV cap a bit means I can dial the amp more like I do the real thing and get a similar response. Such a fun amp!
@@LeonToddThe 3Ch. heads actually have a bright cap on the Output control which boosts 3-4kHz for about 1-2dB. This one of the reasons why the 3Ch. is considered as sounding fizzier than the old 2ch. The 2ch. heads never had a bright cap on the Master or Loop active Master controls
Yea your correct, all the cheaper units and even my pod go...have a "version" of there take on a recto...and all dail in differently, I'm not fussy, so it never takes me long to find a chug I can dig, this is why videos like this are gold, helping me to deep dive without being overwhelmed.🤘👍🎸
Dude if you could please do a modern metal type of tone and go through a lot of advanced parameters. I know you've done a couple of them...but I don't think there's one in a modern metal context. I would like to hear some explanations of each advanced parameter as well. Ex: bright cap does this to the metal tone...'this' one does that...etc...@@LeonTodd
You are the maestro sir. Just epic tones and sounds great. I tried playing thru a real recto at my cousin's studio and couldn't get a good tone out of it because I later learned from you I didn't know what I was doing. 😂😂😂. Strange amp, but great times man. Love it . Those times sound as good or better to me than the real thing thru my headphones. Amazing. I was just listening to Rudo Sarzo of Ozzy fame and quiet riot saying RRs used to use Altec or big 75 watt speakers for his rig back in the quiet riot days and I think even his white Marshall had those speakers. .. I would love to try a Marshall with them in a stack with a mxr distortion plus and see what it would sound like. Great video brother. Very cool. ❤. You should be a marketing rep for Fractal brother. ❤ Be well and safe my friend. ❤
I had a beautiful Rev G Trem-o-Verb combo that my Axe rendered completely obsolete. I never got as good as Leon at dialing it in, but with that amp you learn to turn the bass and MV down pretty damned quick!
Awesome video! Just got the Axe 3 and SYN2.. Wondering if I should go mono Left out of the SYN into the input 1 in the back of AXE3 and then out in stereo to poweramp to cabs .. Thanks so much for all your videos..
I was on the verge of getting irritated with the "gross" sound and then you said "thats the point of a recto" at 5:28 hahaha too good. thanks for the videos sir!
Coming from helix and kemper.gotta say.i love fractal the most.with nueral qc being next.the fractal being so natural to my ears.love the moding you can do on it.current have the fm3.i might level up to a fm9 next year.but fractal still rules
"Pimp my Recto" 😁 Just sounds wrong but Preset doesn't 😁 Would sound even worse if you... "inserted"..... "up" in there also 🤣 Top job as usual Leon 🤘🤘
I am not a Recto guy..too Nu-Metal for me..but…I do really like the Mark Day Recto in the AxeFXIII..that one kinda has that Judas Priest thing going on..
@LeonTodd Thank you so much! I've watched some of your videos 10+ times over the years (they're incredibly informative but also very entertaining, and your playing is great). It's a daily classic for my wife and I to tune in, listen to "goo'day legends, I hope you're all amazing," and hear some good tones. I'm so happy the Rectos won't require tweaking. Thanks for everything!

Exactly. Cliff is a gem.

TGF is the best
TGF !! def the best place !!!
TGF is waaaaaay better than TOP
Oh no, Leon has given away the secret place!

Makes my soul happy when Leon plays some modern metal riffage (Marigold riff was 🔥)
My God, when the boosts got added to the signal chain. Great video as always my dude!
I love these amps with a boost. Takes them to another level
When you engaged the tube screamer it really transformed the sound. Perfect!
That's the ticket hey

Really adds that lovely raspy cut to the tone hey
Ha! That's a real eye-opener. That's one thing I don't recall having toyed with when I had my FM3. Taking notes for when I'm back to Fractal land 😁

i really appreciate hearing the subject tones up front in the intros, that razor blade squish is unmistakable! 🤤
Original recipe, deep fried razorblades!

Right on man. If it chugs, it's good!
Nothing like a perfect cup of coffee in the morning and a new Leon video talking about awesome high gain tones. Life is good.
Let the gain flow!

Great tones you came up with in this vid Leon!
Thank you kindly!
The new intro is awesome! Thanks for another great video.
Thanks again!

Another great video! Any idea when we might see these updates on FM9 and FM3?
Apparently they're working on it

Decided to go for AXE FX3 from FM3 instead of FM9. Oh. My.
It's amazing!
Congrats! Absolutely incredible unit

🤣
😂😂😂
Good stuff. Thanks!
chewy chuga chunky goodness! p.s. in front of the amp I liked the Precision Drive the best.
Awesome tips as always!
🙌
that title sounds bad man 😆
Awesome ❤😊
I thought this said something else when I first scanned the title.
Gigs are tough to come by this time of year in WA...those rack units don't pay for themselves
LOLOL
I am not a Recto guy..too Nu-Metal for me..but…I do really like the Mark Day Recto in the AxeFXIII..that one kinda has that Judas Priest thing going on..
Are your clocks backwards down under? LOL, I am pretty sure you meant 9 O'clock?
🤣
Hahaha yeah chalk it up to that :s
Leon, can you please check the revised Recto models on 24.04? I'm afraid updating to the latest FW will mess up my precious Recto presets
Gave them a thrash and didn't notice that many differences on the Recto's. Fryette and Rockerverb sound a bit different though.
