You need a dial indicator or beam style torque wrench, Not a clicker. You want pre load of 16 to 29 inch pounds For new bearings. Your number one focus is the preload inch pounds, not torque on the pinion, Although it probably will take a fair amount of tightening to crush the sleeve . Be mindful of the inch pounds, and keep checking as your tightening. If You over tighten, you have to start over with a new crush sleeve.
It shouldn't move in and out (toward front bumper or rear bumper). Specs on the last one I did was between 13 and 19 inch pounds, but most manufacturers vary.
the 10/7 rule of thumb for shiming and backlash is what I was looking for... THANK YOU
Great vid my backlash is 11 to 12 is that acceptable on 7.5 10 bolt ?
Where did you get the tool to set backlash
you can buy the magnetic base and dial indicator from places like harbor freight
Didn’t mention which way the facing of the oem shim(if used) faces, also the shims provided, thinner shims in middle, thicker one’s outer
How tight do you tighten the pinion shaft? Should it be able to move or should it be stationary?
@MegaSkilla WRONG!!!!!!
