Man people sleep on Rio. That light as a feather line was deeeeeeep that’s a history lesson. His struggle bars and doubles intertwined are so hard to detect.
I dont remember which freestyle it was, but i remember a spanish speaker translating then explaining a rio bar that was a double in spanish with a third in the english translation. Shit absolutely blew my gourd
Also, Windows is the operating system you run Excel on, and if your 'Windows" is too "small", or non existent on your hard drive ("eyes closed") then you can't "excel", or run Excel. As a computer nerd, I loved that line. lol
It can also be a play on exhale. When something happens instead of taking a breather and not acting out of emotion people allow that rage to dictate actions. And micro&windows can be a play on being nearsighted and only being reactive.
@Andrew Ryan go check out The Third Ernest. He breaks bars down extremely well. Dude only has 200k and I’m shocked he’s not more popular. He does a lot of twitch streaming as well.
There is a complicated history to the Twins relationship to Ras Kass...they touch on it in some of their music about absence, struggle, and rehabilitation of the relationship in their adulthood...Heard an interview from their Mother (highly respected artist/singer/writer) Teedra Moses where she adding context on how Ras Kass never wanted children due to his own traumas and how she did a lot on her own still loving him and kinda accepting the situation, but she had other requirements of him in lieu of him being involved... Hard to keep giving him that much credit, but it does make you thing about how much either having a predisposition toward word play is inherited or how much the twins studied Dad in his absence in effort to get to know him which may have driven them to 'out do' or do just do to the legacy...like most we all have interesting stories...this group has an awesome one as a collective
Thanks for posting, just based on some of the lyrics, especially Ras, i said Taj but i meant Ras, it seems like his mother did most of raising them and that Kas wasn't present. Also wondered if their mom was an artist and you answered that 🙏🏿
Glad you said it .. I try not to get that deep because I don't to come off like a hater. But even in the music you hear it... I believe it was Ras said me and pops came a long way... And when Ras instantly came back with "Shout out to Teedra Moses" when Cosmic Kev shouted out their dad. He is obviously an influence, but don't know how much of a direct impact he had their growth as MC other than... "Man we going to better that him and everyone else.". In either case we are alllllll pleased by what came of it all....
Been WAIIIIITING! HELL yea! Can't wait for this one! *Edit: **15:52** Whenever I watch the breakdown of this freestyle. Nobody ever catches the Halal (allow), Bul(l), Beef, Lamb, slaughter scheme. Ryan picked up on it, but I wish he would of broken that down. That is soooooo top tier, to me.*
The twins rass kass's sons so fire.. as a collective they are some of the top lyricists out right now.. The album was amazing! APT 505 one of my favorites dropped this year.. Been a fan since Logicthon, rattpack, Dope reaction as always yo!
It hits different too when you take the title into consideration. They all describe having to “give up the goods” and realize there’s a bigger meaning to life. A spiritual revelation for each of them!
This was excellent - my favorite type of rap. There is a certain vulnerability in the lyrics, the realization that you have to work to become who you want to be. I still like some big boy talk, but, to me, this is all about the human experience and how we all struggle to become better. I Loved it. Thanks for another stellar reaction and another amazing breakdown.
Saw these dudes in Brooklyn. So lucky I got to catch them at a small venue because these dudes are about to blow. Nothin but dope shit!!! Thanks for the reaction
I first found you guys listening to Pneuma… Here I am listening to and loving Coast Contra because of you guys… You are both awesome, keep being you and expanding our horizons.
Love the way you guys attacked the reaction. From breaking down the bars to going back to lyrics while the video of contra that we see stays paused. Smooth edits and elaboration on the video.
All these reactions and breakdowns help us truly realize the genius that comes from those once in a lifetime talented humans. People will still be talking about these guys 50-100 years from now in the archives of hip hop. They're that important.
I love how at 18:37 you both switch from a side to side nod to an up an down nod at the same time. I didn't know y'all were choreographing dance moves now.
How I've I only just found your channel ! Been so sick of listening to 18 year old knuckledraggers reacting to shit they don't even recognize. Love your energy, love the knowledge, bar catching and perspectives. Top content boyyyyys. Just watching you two bop along and nod to the beat makes me smile haha
Crown/flag in the back pocket - as in what you wear with the most pride “Hold you head high” - don’t limit/minimize yourself/potential to just gang life “Like you got Bloody nose Cousin” - Plays on the Flagging/Gang line
The "#2 next to what I doo doo, penning flows like voodoo" while, yeah being a little juvenile, also points out that he does his crosswords in pen, while his opponent had to write in pencil.
After a millenia of suggesting and waiting, it's finally here🙌🏾....but now there's another out that NEEDS a reaction. what's the odds of getting their freestyle from the Come Up Show, on here? 🤞🏾
The part 18:01, the Mirco is part of Excel as well. it used to record what you do on Excel, which then gets sorted on Excel, so when you go back to Excel you can replay that Micro you have recorded. No sure if that relates as well.
Oh man yall are back, thought yall fell off the Coast... LET'S GO! For songs, off of APT 505: Legacy, My Lady, Pimp Benjamin, 505, Queen & Slim and Explicit. Those will help oh and the latest Cosmic Kev freestyle..
FINALLY another Coast Contra reaction 🙌🏾. Hopefully you'll react to all or most of their freestyles. Please react to their freestyle on DJ Cosmic Kev's Come Up Show next.
I don't believe when Eric said he started running from who he was that it was running as in scared like you said, but a realization that he no longer wanted to be what he was at the moment and started moving towards becoming something else -- someone else.
How to break down bars!! Why Hip Hop headz love true lyricism. Flow, cadence, punchlines, understanding, double entendres, wit, metaphors, deeper understanding. On a superb Mobb Deep beat. Makes you just want to nod in time.
Being woke and being awake is different. These guys can decipher useless rhetoric and redirect it. Turn a negative frequency to a positive vibe. They are awake and they are sounding the alarm to awaken the woke…did that make sense ?
Superb break down guys. I feel like God brought them together and hopefully they can revive hip hop to what it was. I agree, we need to see the albums reflect this great style they convey in their freestyles.
The freestyles outshine the songs/album, but not because of the bars, but in the freestyles they are spitting over incredible production and you can see the performances...the album is still good. I unfortunately became a slave to shuffle as I don't listen to full albums after my initial listens...but Legacy, Pimpin Benjamin, Queen and Slim, and AF1 is straight energy
I feel the same way unfortunately, I’m am sooo not a fan of the album! Their freestyles are on another level tho! I could sit down and listen to them on repeat all day
@clark townsend the never freestyle isn’t a classic beat. It’s a very good beat that accentuated there style. And maybe I should clarify my statement. Their beat selection on the album isn’t as good as what they’ve chosen for their freestyles. Don’t get me wrong they have some songs that are fire on the album, but as whole the album was just cool.
Gotta do the Cosmic Kev Coast Contra freestyle. They went BONKERS!
MOST DEFINITELY
FAXXX
DOUBLE THIS COMMENT 🔥🔥🔥🔥
💯
Definitely have to
The Halal, Bul, Beef, Lamb, Skin, Slaughtered by (Pigs), Cunning-Ham line is 🤯🖊
Slaughtered by police *and people with my skin*
Man people sleep on Rio. That light as a feather line was deeeeeeep that’s a history lesson. His struggle bars and doubles intertwined are so hard to detect.
Ancient Egypt
Rio is unfair. He not only got skills but can go way deep with the ethnic vibe he brings to the table, wow!
I dont remember which freestyle it was, but i remember a spanish speaker translating then explaining a rio bar that was a double in spanish with a third in the english translation. Shit absolutely blew my gourd
Rio is too deep for most people... he's thinking level is on another dimension and it can pass through a lot of people's heads.
Nobody sleeps on Rio, they are all just a lot to appreciate
Also, Windows is the operating system you run Excel on, and if your 'Windows" is too "small", or non existent on your hard drive ("eyes closed") then you can't "excel", or run Excel. As a computer nerd, I loved that line. lol
Ditto'd, it was slick af lol
I work at Microsoft and that was lit!
same ive got a cert in it that hit hard
Isn’t it also a reference to how you can implement macros in excel?
It can also be a play on exhale. When something happens instead of taking a breather and not acting out of emotion people allow that rage to dictate actions. And micro&windows can be a play on being nearsighted and only being reactive.
You guys are the only reactors that actually explain lyrics. Thanks for that. Makes it more enjoyable for me because its not my first language.
I was thinking they could have done more explaining because Ras flows went over a lot of folks heads.
@@LOCKYCHARMZ so did Rio. I like the guy from Vibe Reaction too, because he breaks down Rio Spanish parts
SCRU Face Jean does too
Stevie knight does the best bar breakdowns
@Andrew Ryan go check out The Third Ernest. He breaks bars down extremely well. Dude only has 200k and I’m shocked he’s not more popular. He does a lot of twitch streaming as well.

All faxx...
In that cosmic kev joint, right before Rass spit, kev said shout out to rass kass....and rass said We shout Teedra Moses
Glad you said it .. I try not to get that deep because I don't to come off like a hater.
But even in the music you hear it... I believe it was Ras said me and pops came a long way...

Excellent observation--I’ll try to find that Teedra Moses interview. Respect💯
@@unknownx7252 She's a great artist can really sing.
Damn these 4 have given me hope for the future of hip hop.
It’s just inspirational even outside of hip hop.

Idk how I never realized that J Cole used this beat on St Tropez, just never clicked till now
Hearing these guys makes me wish Clear Soul Forces had more shine. More of these guys is needed.
Same page!
Authenticity is the word that comes to mind for them
The twins rass kass's sons so fire.. as a collective they are some of the top lyricists out right now..
The album was amazing! APT 505 one of my favorites dropped this year..

I think the last dude just might be a genius. Creative as hell
COAST CONTRA FIRE AS ALWAYS, LOST AND VEGAS KEEP IT COMING
Lost and Vegas the funniest thing I’ve seen today.

Damnit, you dropped this, and i thought it was the Cosmic Kev joint. The Cosmic joint went bananas. Eric Jamal first verse is the verse of the year.
Imma hafta give verse of the year to Ras 1st verse
@@johnbooker6524 Ras went nuts but Jamal schemes were insane. All gravy tho, it's all fire
His first verse from that is from his song butter on a biscuit
Saw these dudes in Brooklyn. So lucky I got to catch them at a small venue because these dudes are about to blow. Nothin but dope shit!!! Thanks for the reaction
This final line was dope with the glucose and silly-act…. Fire.
Coast contra so damn inspiring to me they just hit different you can tell they really do care about their craft

These dudes are SOLID... want to hear more like em !
Been waiting for you all review of give up the goods . Now it got serious on The come up show , jeeeeeesus!!!!
90’s hip hop will never be topped. The greats then shined because of their INTELLIGENCE. Deep, poetic, and real. This shit these days…no brains.
that's probably the best freestyle i've heard from any modern day rapper/group after the 2000s
These guys are craaazyyy good! I love how they are bringing proper hiphop back.
I love how at 18:37 you both switch from a side to side nod to an up an down nod at the same time. I didn't know y'all were choreographing dance moves now.

These are songs, written freestyles is no different. Coast contra was needed and I'm so glad they've gotten the attention they've deserved to get
Crazy there closeness with there higher being . All talked about there shortcomings . Give up what we call goods for the higher purpose
There are alot of people that "review" music but you guys are the best! Everything from Tool to hip hop and in between.
Ryan and George. Super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Who does everybody who do the reactions to this freestyle just miss Rio’s line about the Egyptian afterlife
Bro these breakdowns really are crazy interesting. Really shows so much complexity
When he said they glucose and ended it with celiacs was the coldest bar
CC. Doing it for reel, love these young dudes Biggin up the old school style. ,
