At 9:08 he says a bar about new music sounding like a Merry go round.
A merry go round was what “founding father of hip hop” Cool Herc called it when he played funky songs but only their break beats, basically birthing the first hiphop parties.
The “breaks” basically all sounded very similar, so the bar is a callback and compares the sounds of today to break beats.
Clever way of saying these rappers all sound the same.
