Coast Contra music is therapeutic, so it's fitting that this was filmed like a therapy session. I think we all have contradictions. It takes courage to express them and own them.

god, rio's verse hits so hard. i love how many literal "contradictions" there are like "i wouldn't change a thing except for..." and lists like a dozen things he would've liked to change, and the "i can't see my brother, or hug my grandma anymore" just makes me want to cry, you can hear the raw emotion in his voice and he's speaking from the heart. this song is a true masterpiece

Been watching on repeat since instagram…. This group is the only group that can make this type of hip hop… brings back the old days mixed with new era… flawless
When you say "mixed with new era" what do you mean. All I hear is golden era vibes. The groups personal stories are in this record and they themselves are younger men but the main elements of this song are in line with golden era sound from 20+ years ago. Even the beat (which is dope) was a simple loop pretty much all the way through.
Honestly this just makes me feel like I pulled up a chair, just listening to them share their stories in depth it's such humbling poetry and I'm glad y'all shared it with us.
Back in the day, I would nod my head to this and listen and looking for how to record it. Today, tears drop at this and hearing this is,simply nostalgic. In the titled rap of Nice and Smooth, Old to the New, just came back. Sweet memories today.
