That’s the problem with small minds like yours… all about getting revenge. Who cares about people who doubted your potential? The real will grind and not stunt on any1 or put haters down… they just keep dominating from 1 thing to another. That hatin mentality is lame as hell, grown *** man still worried bout a few words some1 told you ages ago. Get a grip… and if u think I’m hatin too wake up

The hunger in their voices is on another level! 🙏🏻
There's a hunger, honesty, and energy to this song unlike many in modern rap history.
The transition of Cozz to Cole is flawless
Like bro
Wow this comment is golden
Cozz reminds me of Nas. I like this dude.
Dude, you just got the Word. Perfect !
I been waiting for cole to get a grammy for way too long
He definitely deserves one. When is he gonna get one for real?
+AGbaby235 he probably won't. He doesn't go above and beyond to be high on the charts. Not saying he's not mainstream, but he's not as mainstream as Drake, Meek, Future, or even Kendrick. The grammy's are more about reputation than good music, and j Cole doesn't have the rep like the others do (which I love)
+Alec Kruger true
Alec Kruger I agree with what you said but Grammy is also rigged if you haven't noticed it already. So, real artists like J. Cole who make music that have substance will rarely or better yet never get one.

That's lies. That boy sold out the ducking garden.. 2 nights in a row!! I love his music but people need to stop saying he's underrated or under-appreciated. He's a fucking bonafide superstar. Plain and simple. He dropped 2014 FHD with no promo and went platinum. He ain't under anything. Stop it plz.

This song captures the ambition, anger, and loneliness of a young black male in America.

facts
“Niggas already tryna bite styles your break a tooth if you bite down “ omg 🔥😩
Cole's second verse was piff, him and cozz really compliment each other on the track. Not to mention that play on words, connecting it all, in the weight watchers scheme when he mentions the fat lady, eight figures, cake stacking, slim chances and knowing the stakes (steaks) in his first verse. This entire song was fuego from start to the 5 minute mark
Wow didn't even peep all that 😳
jimmieweathers expect to make over eight figures/(Over ate figures)

jimmieweathers wasn't even on to him making a vid for this thanks homie
J Cole has provided me a lot of motivation in life which in turn gave me the drive to succeed. Right now I'm In Law school studying for my exams hoping one day I can make Coles dreams come true, as he provided for me, of being more than a kid in the streets trapped by society. Cant Knock The Hustle

Good luck in law school . ☝
How you doin bro? Keep pushing
This is no doubt one of Cole’s best features, whole track is underrated 💯
I know these brothas ain’t from NYC but this is definitely NYC hip-hop and I always felt that this song showcases what NYC hip-hop should’ve turned into instead of the music coming outta there today.
Edit: Same thing for Westside, Conway, and Benny, they from upstate but they music sounds like it’s straight from the heart of NYC.
Definitely, other than Joey Bada$$ and his crew, NY rap ain't like this no more

True
Regardless of what the majority of his material is like, I feel that Cole really thrives on these mellow, jazzy, darker, thought provoking beats and songs. Evidence? Premeditated Murder, 2Face, Cold Blood, Knock Tha Hustle, Grown Simba, Before I'm Gone (That 2nd Verse Flames), Trouble, 03 Adolescence, Forbidden Fruit etc. This just seems to be where Cole eats the most imo.
He goes in on Dollar and a Dream III too
Agreed

***** That's another good one 🔥 what about hold it down? Also fits into the mellow, jazzy, darker, thought provoking beats and songs KvngOC was speaking on.
I Get Up
this right here is a certified classic.
Agree!
Why when Cole's voice breaks at the end always gets me in my feelings. You can tell that verse meant something big to him.
That's the definition of a ALL-TIME CLASSIC.
How can ppl say real music is boring, s/o to cozz and cole for a soulful meaningful song
truu true,
bruh listen to Lexx Nova for dope shit like this
kingofhaiti123 this the generation of bangerz....if it dont bang the kids say its wack
It's not boring just different feeling for a different mood, kids just listen to Waka, Tyga, Keef....aka "Turn Up Music" nobody like piano, horn, or jazz sounds anymore...just trap music to bump in the car...IMO
Fuck what ppl say as long as you like it bro
kingofhaiti123 they want to just club and party and waste their lives, real music is meaningful and can be used and is realistic,THE REAL IS BACK

The Contrast in the verses is crazy.
Cozz: Hungry, trying to accomplish put food on the table,
Cole: Too famous, avoiding his family.
Both their hustles are way too strong.

Erudite Hooper I thought I was the only one who realized it.
Duude i noticed this exact thing last night!
If you notice J. Cole also says a bunch of stuff at the end of his first verse about a lot of food contrasting the hungry. Over eight figures (over ate) slim chance, know the stakes(steaks), fat lady sing, and a few more.
Arguably Cole's Best Verse he ain't have to do the beat like dat 💀

I find Cozz spitting some ridiculously awesome heat here, and as usual with Cole, he respectfully refuses to be outshone. A true classic for the ages guaranteed 💯
I'm 49 yrs old, yeah 1 of them dudes that call 90's Hip Hop the golden era! I love emcees like Cozz, J. Cole, Kendrick, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, Domo Genesis, etc.. They keep that 90's sound alive!!
People like you prove all oldheads aren't bad. Keeping being you, brotha

R.I.P Mac !!!
Hell yea. At least we know some dudes recognize that hip hop ain't dead, just changed lanes.
Cozz & Cole created a moment in hip hop that can not be remastered. You can say what you want, but this is pure classic! Many of you are saying that Cole bodied this but Cozz went hard also. You need to be reminded that Cozz had this song finished way before Cole hopped on it. Cole loved the track so much that he asked to get on it. So the props should go to Cozz for making such an inspirational song that even one of the best emcees of today wanted to be apart of it. If Cozz had heard Cole's verses ahead of time, he would have gone even harder. Cole heard how hard Cozz went, so he ended up dropping bombs. I think you can take a lot from each one of their verses. Don't sleep on Cozz, he can compete with the best!
very true
+Syd Coopz lol tf you talking about can't be remastered? Both of them have a weak vocabulary. It's a good song but they have a basic mainstream vocabulary.
+Ginsuma you mean their literary devices, being a dictionary doesn't make you a great rapper. Aesop rock is in my top 10 for his deep lyrics not his vocabulary.
lite daya7
Aaaaaaaaand you've done nothing to change my opinion.
Ginsuma I'm sorry I failed you.
In a world of mumble rap, finding something 8 yrs old and this good is so damn refreshing.
