I’ve learned allot from you and I thought I knew basically everything there was to know about subs I been messing with car audio since I was 10 at my pawpaws junkyard I learned by making all of that blue magic smoke lmao 😂 but you are a legend brother Rn I’m in a 01 2 door GMC jimmy with a alpine Mrd-m1005 v12 mono amp @2 ohms pushing a pair of American Bass XD 15s and it’s not too bad maxed out my db meter at 130plus dbc and dba so idk it’s it’s 134 but it’s over 130 for sure meter reads hi lol

I'm showing the younger generation here on all kinds of Electronics using all my education I got under my belt. I enjoy every bit of helping and showing anytime I can man.
whats crazy is people that leave reviews or comments on subs its usually right after a purchase or repeating what they heard, they don't really have time with it to see if it even stands the test of time... like skar subs if you play loud ofter they don't really last trust me all that marketing they do ain't cheap 30% of the cost is that you buying a inferior product but if you in a budget great came to the conclusion they are just not the quality I'm looking for and 2nd is everyone has a different subwoofer box if you have a high quality box you can make almost anything sound good but if you got the best subwoofer in a shit box it wont sound good normally you want to run a sub as efficient as possible, meaning using the largest cone for your application but having the space to let it run right if you have 2 15s in your honda accord man you just throwing power at stuff someone with 2 8s with a proper enclosure will give you the business I promise you that cant really take what anyone says because you have no idea wtf they are doing with them bunch of non sense all over the internet
PA Style speakers though are not for SQ/SQL/SPL... they're for volume & throw. That's why live concerts don't sound great, just loud. In car audio (even the new Kicker PA Style speakers), SPL systems sound like crap for SQ/SQL. I have a neighbor with a $50k+ lifted truck and his system is good on bass and LOUD but sounds like muddied water (shite)... PA Style speakers. If you want "deeper" bass", buy subs with a lower Fs and build a proper box, true!

If thats true than subwoofer sizes differ? Lol I agree with just about all your videos Jerry n I like your channel probably the most but I don't agree. 18s play lower n deeper than the same 10s will.... also 18 is slower or take longer to recover after a note because of all the mass moving vs a 8... physics bro...

That move slower concept is for the 89/90's era of car audio. If you compare power rating for then to what you have now. It's a whole different beast. You had 5k on 20 speakers using 10 amps, now you have 20k from one amp on 2 speakers. People use 5cf of box to a single speaker at times. Past that size box was 2 18's on a rf power amp. It's old information trying to be applied to today's tech. Same as there is no value in playing below 40 hz.
How do you determine how many rms your vehicle can handle safely as an everyday driver. I've seen ALT ×10 then battery AH ×10. Add those two up and minus half your factory alternator rating for vehicle consumption. Also how much more power do you recommend in terms of amp over sub.....say 1000rms sub.....1250rms amp.....25%?????
I tuned my 2 10s in my lexus to 28hz. It was deep and liked rebassed music. Enclosure enclosure enclosure. I can't believe this myth is still floating around.

I read double power is +10db. I just started a build where I'm going from 4 12s on 8000 to 8 12s on 16000 so will let you know what the result is. It made 156.8db with 4 12s I'm hoping to break 160 with the new setup. 😎

Sometimes the heavier cone and mass of 18s and above can and will play lower, especially having lower fs
