    Thanks so much for the video. One thing I wish you would have covered is how to feed the mirror cable back to the connector. It needs to feed through a space to the left of the glass that goes up and down to avoid getting caught by the moving glass. Test moving the window up and down slowly before installing the door panel back. Again, thank you so much for this excellent video.

    Got this far. How do you tuck the wire to not get caught when raising the window? Thanks

    • @gavininco1
      @gavininco1 10 лет назад +3

      Reach into the door and feel around under the mirror and along the front of the door. You will feel a bar that you can wrap your fingers around. The cable has to be pull through that bar toward you and ends up on the inside of the window when it is rolled up or down.

    Thank you for your video! My husband's left side mirror was damage when the car in front of him ran over a tire thread. The tire thread flew up and hit his side mirror. The garage quoted $400 to repair it with a used part! Instead of spending $400, my husband bought a used part for $52, watched this video, removed the damage mirror, and replaced it with the used side mirror. Saved us about $350!

    Great tutorial, I replaced my mirror and all went smoothly. Would like to add a few comments that might help simple guys like me:
    1) about that round pushpin by door handle, that is hard to get out without a hook (up close, you can see the surrounding plastic has a cut out on right side just for such a small hook): you don’t actually need to pull it out at all. When you pull the inner door panel off the press in mountings, it naturally comes out anyway.
    2) don’t need to disconnect the door latch cables, easier just to leave them hooked up.
    3) when reassembling, my inner panel was acting weird, not ‘catching’. Found out that it was because when I pulled inner door panel out, some of those press in plugs stuck in outer metal frame, rather than staying attached to inner panel. Pulled affected ‘plugs’ out of outer panel and slid into place on the inner panel, then all good
    Side story: since old mirror was kind of busted (plastic frame around mirror loose and rattling around) and I had nothing to lose, figured out how to disassemble mirror assembly and think I can actually fix it, using super glue and something like dap. TBD …

    the door panels easy, any idiot with one arm and two fingers can take that thing apart and pop it back on.my question is, once you remove the front passenger door, how does it go back on, in order to get the bolt aligners correct i had to use a saw to cut the locking arm because it had a jammed cotter pin in the retainer hole.now i have one loose door that i cant get back on there.it weighs roughly 35 - 40 pounds, and is very hard to attempt myself, especially for the angles of the rotating arms

    Thank you! This was the first time I did any work on a car and it went really well. It took me 2 hours to complete from start to finish. The only two things I got hung up on were how to properly route the mirror wiring to not get caught up in the window and I couldn't figure out how to get the "push pin clip" to go back in as it was before removing it from behind the door handle. If I didn't get hung up on those two items, I would have finished in 1.5hrs.
    Amazing tutorial.
