I bought the Tamron two years ago and was disappointed with the auto focus. Missed many shots. Did a software upgrade earlier this year and now it locks on immediately. Make sure it's upgraded.
Thank you for your comment and your advice! 👍 I will check my firmware, but I don’t have any issues with my auto focus until now.
Thanks
I’m upgraded but just had this happen a couple days ago. Burst of 5 and it missed 3 outright and one was soft. It’s a real bummer as the optical quality is so incredible for a super zoom. I’ll check again, but I’m relatively certain I’m up to current firmware
I would definitely choose Tamron, because there is a big difference in price, but the photo quality is the same, sometimes better.
Thank you for your comment. 👍 you’re absolutely right!
Not only that, I believe the Tamron also provides better colour
Thank you for your comment. 👍 the Tamron lens is a very good allrounder.
Excellent review. The Tamron 28-200 is my go-go travel lens as it does everything well. I also own the Tamron f2.8 trio (17-28, 28-75 & 70-180) and while the trio delivers superior image quality the compact 28-200 keeps up nicely with concessions only to its busier bokeh and subtle softness at the edges.
Thank you very much for your comments and your nice words.👍
I love also the Tamron lenses, but the only downside is that it is sometimes a lottery win if you get a good copy or not. I have also released a video about it. I have compared to Tamron 17-28 F2.8 lenses and they had different quality in terms of sharpness and contrast.
Thanks for such an in depth analysis on this! I think i’ll be going for the tamron then 😭
Thank you for your comment 👍 you’re welcome.
Thank you, this is such a detailed, unhurried, nice video. Very, very helpful, and helped me decide. Cheers!
Thank you for your comment 👍 I’m happy Thant this video has helped you! 😊
What I see is at 70mm the Tamron is sharper, at 135 the Sony (in some ares). At 200 look at 6:05. Sony is sharper. But this is really splitting hairs when zooming in this much. Price/performance wise the Tamron wins hands down.
Thank you for your comment. You're right with your analysis.😉
Wow, the Tamron is a very good alternative.
Yes it is 👍
I don’t know why people buy expensive brand name lenses at this point.
The performance between these two is indistinguishable in 99% of situations. And no one seeing the photos is going to be pixel peeping.
Plus, 28-200 is such a ridiculous range. So useful.
Thank you for your comment. 👍 You are absolutely right.😉
I am hoping on a 28-200mm G2 a F4 maybe and VC...and less purple fringing
I have the Sony F4 70-200 a nice lens...the tamron is lighter and compact 2.8-5.6 is nice but no dealbreaker for me
F4 is good enough for outside images. nice review thanks
Thank you for your comment. 👍 Yes a F4 at 200mm an a stabilization would be nice. 😊
👌@@dawa5581 👌👋
Very little difference in the center of the frame in the corners the Sony is better but with the price difference and weight for a travel lens the Tamron is a great buy.
Thank you very much for your comment. 👍 Tamron has made a very good lens here.
Nice review ! might be worth redoing it with the Sony 70-200 version 2.
Thanks for your comment. 👍 I also think it would be worth it. As soon as I get the lSony 70-200 version 2, I will repeat the test.
The 28-200 has a stabilizer?
@@sharhan__t it’s not stabilise, but you don’t need it for photos anyway.
@@dawa5581 I'm planning to buy this lens for sports photography is this good. Im short with my budget
3:45 the Tamron is a lot sharper there!
Yes, it is much sharper. Tamron has made a very good lens here.
when i bought my tamron - it was to replace a 24mm and 85mm prime... it wasnt that i didnt like the bokeh on the faster lenses or the low light performance at 85mm but when walking with my girlfriend one day i was getting annoyed when moving between forest and beach scenes...the 85mm seemed to cramped and the 24 too wide.... then when we got to the open beach the 85 just didnt have the reach i wanted... so i got the 28-200... its the swiss army knife of lenses... theres alittle CA issue but only when shooting into direct sun... its sharp as shit and actually pretty decent from everything from a wide angle nightscape... to beautiful portraits (if i shoot longer than 85 - more into the 150mm range i get lovely bokeh and subject seperation)... as for low light performance... people have been hard pressed to tell the difference after topaz cleans up the noise.... so it being slower at the longer focal lengths doesnt matter any more...sharpness is still there! i absolutely love it
Thank you very much for your long comment. 👍 You are absolutely right, this lens is awesome and it has also replaced some lenses from my equipment too. It saves you lots of time and nerves not changing the lenses every time 😉
how about the stabilization ? I'm buying one but I didnt seen nothing about image stabilization.
@@Carlinhaoipno stabilization, only in the camera.
very useful video thanks 👍👍👍
@@moizsheikh250 thank you very much for your comment 👍
great comparison thx
@@mirrorlessny thank you very much for your comment 👍
Sony has OSS, that could make a diference too. I'm hoping tamron is working on a G2 of this lens
Thank you for your comment. 👍 OSS definitely makes a difference, especially with telephoto and in the Viedeo range. I also hope that Tamron will bring out a G2 soon. It will certainly be even sharper, faster and a bit smaller. 😉
@@dawa5581 shouldn't make a difference if i pair this with a 6500 or 6600 right?
@@zephaniah666 no, but you will get a crop of 1.5x
Thank you very mch!
