First set modded for longer throw...

I have just fitted the side mount spigot part way in, so that they don't protrude into the shock body. I've include a bit more detail of the build in the pics too. They could really do with slightly longer, but still as soft springs so that the whole throw can be sprung. This can be achieved by stretching the springs a little.
First I inserted a 5.5mm drill bit shank into the shock body, this acted as a guide to how far the mount spigot could be screwed in.
I then added a dab of CA glue to the spigot thread so that it was initially held in place. Permanent thread lock would be better used for this.
To further secure and support the mounting spigot I applied a fillet of two part epoxy around the base - hopefully this measures will prevent them coming loose in use or when trying to remove the mounting screws.
The shock bodies were sanded with wet'n'dry paper internally to remove the burrs from the hole drilled and threaded for the side mount.
The longer M3 socket head bolts were then cut down using the scientific method of 3x M3 nuts to set the length. The nuts also meant I did not need to told the bolt on the smooth shank while cutting and meant that on removal they helped restore the thread on the cut off end.
With the new shock shafts made I prepared the rod ends. These are WPL rod ends tapped to M3 to suit the bolts. A standard M3 thread is a little to large to self tap in the WPL rod ends without splitting them.
Then the suspension units were reassembled. I use a small dab of CA glue on the lower spring seat, so that it doesn't drop of when unloaded, but can still be fairly easily removed from the WPL rod end if need be.
I also stripped down a couple of useless generic oil filled shocks that are sold as WPL compatible, but are in reality way to firm for these trucks. This provided four rubber O rings that can be fitted behind the mounting screw to take up any rattle from mounting the RBR/C units a little loose so that they can flex in the mountings.
    Parts Used:
WPL rod ends. These have a slender design and work well with the original RBR/C lower spring seat:

I've been using a set of Axial 1/24th scale 48mm telescopable shocks with a stiff spring let all the way out, and I can stretch about 2 1/2 to 3" front to rear tire, without loss of low center of gravity. They even look very scale. The shocks that come for or recommended for WPL "1/16TH" scale are all over the place.

That was a custom build using two C34 rear cabin top sections and roofs, with the rear tub extended to suit. There's a few build pics on my Instagram page smallscale adventures.

Excellent vid, can I ask where the whees and tyres are from?

Some shown are WPL V4 tyres: www.wpl-rc.com/collections/accessories/products/wheels-tires-v4-c54-new-design?ref=ssa
The wheels those are on are my own 3D printed designs. The files are on my Thingiverse. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4823333
Other wheels shown are MN99s soft tyres on wheels made from the MN wheel and 1/16 dually wheels. I'll link to my videos on them as a separate reply shortly.

    • @smallscaleadventures

I've just added some links to the video description. They are quite tricky to fit to the MN chassis because of the standard shock mounting design and the size of the holes in the chassis rails, but nothing a bit of creativity can't over come. I believe the are adaptors available to reduce the size of the chassis holes.
